Wow, what a quaint British pub in the middle of Vienna. Parking is a little tight for this area,…read morebut you can definitely find some spots in the back on a weekday. I ended up biking and there's a bike stand really close by. My friend was craving fish and chips, so we ventured out this way. Because we came on a Thursday they had a deal going where if you ordered a pie, you could get a beer for free. Of course I had to partake, so I ordered the special pie, which was a masala, chicken, curry pie, and it was quite good. A bit small for the price point but with the beer included totally worth it also because their fries are so good. I could demolish over a pound of those fries. They were thick potato and maybe the extra added bonus of having to use a glass ketchup bottle added to it. My friend and I were also taught how to properly hit the ketchup bottle to get the ketchup out by the bartender. You find the 57 on the bottle at an angle and bump you palm there that instead of hitting the bottom and hoping and praying that ketchup comes out. It actually worked or at least it was more efficient than trying to hit the bottom of the bottle upside down. I had never had a hand pumped beer before, but it was quite good. They are a warm beer rotating and it was quite good, it especially paired well with the pie or fish and chips.

My son and I bought a traditional beef pasty ($9.49) and a chicken masala pasty ($9.49) for a lunch snack. Both were delicious, but we liked the chicken masala pasty more because of the nice curry flavor. The dough is soft and light which makes it very pleasant to eat. Service is friendly. The only downside is the lack of seating inside the place - it's a "grab-n-go" takeout sort of place. You can also find a wide array of British favorites like chocolate-covered digestives (biscuits). Overall, I'm thrilled the Pure Pasty has remained in Vienna for so many years. Well worth a visit to try a savory snack!

Beef: normally this would be my favorite back in the day but here... Absolutely no flavor. Quite surprised but I would not order again. Chicken Masala: decent flavor, probably my favorite out of all the oasties I got here. Moroccan lamb: decent flavor also. Chicken cordon bleu: not sure If I got a bad one but yea, hard pass. Sausage rolls: decent flavor. Price point is ok as the oasties were quite filled. It's just that a lot of them just didn't have that taste that I gotta come back for more taste. It was just.... Eh.

Im not sure how to explain it, but their tartar sauce kind of a hint of smokey chipotle or some chili powder in it. really good. the beer selection is whack. I was told that mid-week or thurs-Saturday, they either have live music or a dj and it becomes a pretty crowded scene.

I opted for the fried chicken sandwich and wasn't too impressed, as it wasn't a chicken breast but a thigh. I was a bit disappointed, to be honest, but the fries and chipotle mayo were great. (In all fairness I went back and read the menu afterwards and it did say it was a chicken thigh, so user error on my part. That said, the chicken was still dry and the tasted a bit oily.) As far as ambiance, it was welcoming. Perfect for a group brunch, as they also have outdoor seating. The biggest plus is that they also validate garage parking!
