Tried to stop in at the brewery next door, but they were closed. Saw all the fantastic pizza reviews and decided to give this place a whirl. As it turns out, they (of course!) have beers from next door on tap. We lucked out and got a table right away, seating is extremely limited. You have to go to the counter to order, who knew? Fantastic pizza. i love pizza and despise crap like any fast food pizza place so on that one thing alone they are worth it to me. They also have beer which im not old enough to drink but i know the brands and i know several who love what they serve here especially since its not junky stuff its all micro brews. The only downfalls are 1) the size of the place. If you go on a busy night which its busy often then chances are youll be there a while just to sit and longer to get a pizza not because they are slow its just that they can only make so many pizzas at a time. 2) the atmosphere. Its a bar so its loud and energetic with some rude workers not all of them just one or two but you only have to interact with the workers when you order and when you pay and if you sit outside thats even better. If you want to sit down and have a 3 hour dinner with some sketchy men making your pizza, this is the place for you!! Pizza is served on paper plates and drinks served in plastic cups. Took over an hour and a half to get our pizza. Don't bother leaving a tip seeing as the people working don't even serve you. By far best pizza in Salisbury. Not to mention the craft beer selection is absolutely the best!! It can be a bit pricey depending on what you want but on Wednesdays they do have $3.00 beers which is great!! The seating is very limited however the extra seating outside is okay weather permitting!! TSC is our favorite pizza place. The staff are nice and friendly. We usually go with our party of five early when they open to avoid long waits. They have a large selection of craft beers and a daily pizza special. When the weather permits we enjoy the outdoor seating. The pizza arrives hot and yummy. Fresh ingredients and thin hand tossed. Have eaten at Salty Caper on several occasions. The freshly-made, brick oven pizzas there really are very good (if a bit on the small side). Beer selection is also good. My concerns are small and but two: (1) For pizzas of such small size, though they are quite good, it's a bit too pricey to eat there regularly. (2) The location is extremely tiny with terrible parking in the area. If they had a larger facility with better parking and more reasonable prices for the pizzas......it would definitely be a 5-star spot. read more

So, we turned to the internet for 'options'. We found The Salty Caper and recalled we had heard the name from a neighbor once before. We decided to give it a try and ordered a pepperoni and pineapple, large, with extra cheese. We drove the few miles from our house through the storm and picked up the pizza. We brought it back and enjoyed it with root beer soda. Although a thin crust pizza, I thought it was good, my wife thought it was good and my dog Porthos thought it was good. The pizza is amazing!! They have all the usual toppings and often have interesting and delicious specialty pizzas. That is just the main course. They have awesome beers on tap and give samples to help you decide. To finish you off the fried candy bars sound gross but they are wonderful. Family friendly, fun environment. A few weeks ago, a coworker told me about the best drink he's ever had. Since I was very new on the job and we were getting to know one another, I had to do my usual moral obligation. Like a registered sex offender, I had to let everyone know that I am a heavy drinker. I don't know why I have to share that detail with everyone, but I am straight out of college and I still believe that is the measure of a man. As frequently as I reminded him of my habits, he reminded me of this mythical drink called a Red Sin, and the only place to get one pre-mixed is The Salty Caper. Cheerwine and hard cider. It didn't sound too appealing to a guy like me, who thinks PBR and Old Milwaukee are drinks of the gods, but I finally went with him and his wife to try this drink. Ok, so we're mixing soda with a low-alcohol drink and eating pizza. I don't like pizza and the drink sounds unappealing at best. The first sip of a Red Sin probably looked like the first time Li'l Wayne drank his first bottle of cough syrup. I was in pure alcoholic bliss. It tasted great, knew it wouldn't give me the worst hangover of my life, and could probably down them faster than Kobiyashi at a hotdog eating contest. I seriously cannot say how delicious and awesome this drink is. My only suggestion is that you order 3 at a time because the bar gets swamped and if you have a serious problem like I do, you will not enjoy the inconvenience of getting up every 5 minutes. Hey, at least I admit I have a problem and that's the first stage. So back off me. And the pizza...dear GOD. It's unbelievable. I have hangups about pizza because I was subjected to lame birthday parties at Chuck-E-Cheese as a child and fondly remember having to eat the cardboard (passed off as "pizza" and "food") while you watched some lower-middle class parents snap photos of their kid, who was obviously having more fun than me. Oh, the pizza. It's better than great. I prefer the Redneck (not listed on the menu yet) but even their plain White pizza is something for which you should sacrifice your firstborn. If you drink and order pizza, you're not gonna walk away from the Caper with a hell of a lot of money. But this place is like a good hooker. She has a dozen other clients in one night but tells you that you are the best, that you have the biggest dick she's ever seen, and if she didn't have kids to feed, she'd do it for free. Even if it is a lie, you feel pretty good about yourself. In other words, go to the Caper and do something philanthropic: feed the hooker's children. They're people too. read more

Great brick oven pizza, lots of micro beers, cool atmosphere. Group of 3 of us ordered the Sgabei ( deep fried pizza dough ) and a large "the lovely" pizza. Both were delicious. Left there stuffed with beer and pizza. We went on a weekday night and they were busy. Wouldn't recommend a large group though, they only have about 8 tables or so that fit 2-4. We ended up just sitting at the bar, I wish their stools were a bit taller because the height of the bar made everyone feel short and awkward... Easily among the best choices for food and beverages in the area. Salty Caper has a phenomenal craft beer selection with 8 taps and not a bad choice. The beer selection rotates regularly to keep a variety of styles available. Their real brick oven pizzas have a wide variety of toppings. The oven is visible from the bar. My only criticism, as others have pointed out, is a lack of seating inside due to the few bistro-style tables and seats at the bar. Most of the time this is likely not a problem but during weekend nights it can get rather packed. In the summer months an outdoor patio in back accommodates more seating as a relief valve during high traffic times. read more

Family and I ate at the Mooresville location. The pizza was pretty good....it beats the standard pizza chains. The wood fired crust was nice and crispy and there are some good topping choices. The restaurant felt more like a bar and was pretty loud inside so it was hard to carry on a conversation with everyone at the table. I have several friends that think the Salty Caper is great. I also have several friends who don't. I have to go with the latter. Although the pizza is good, it is always very slow in arriving to your table. Expect to pay $25 for a medium size pizza if you want a few toppings. If the pizza warranted this price, I would not be as harsh in my rating. The tap beer selection is generally good. They tend to go with beers that you don't see at most restaurants. This is good if they happen to have something you really like on tap when you are there. But, more times than not, they don't. I like trying beers I have not had before. But I also like having a go-to beer on the menu in case I don't like the beers they have on tap. This has not been the case for me at the Caper. Since I live in Salisbury, the Caper is an option to check out when I want to try a new beer. I have used it for that alone. But, if I want more than one beer, this is not where I go. Luckily, there is a bar right next door to the Caper that does carry a ton of tapped beer along with the standards. So, if the Caper doesn't have what I want, I can always go next door. Another thing I don't like about the Caper is that they do not serve mixed drinks. I usually go to the bar to drink beer. But, one of my friends doesn't like beer. Therefore we usually do not end up at the Caper when she is with me. It is a very small place and it gets quite crowded. It tends to be a haunt for the 30 year olds. If I was 30 years old, this would be a plus. With all this said, the Caper is a good option to have. It is just not a place where I would go often. read more
