Again just awful service. There's no system to getting a table. No servers or to table service per se. This restaurant is seemly staffed with Gen Xers too inept to graduate to pizza 2.0. Good food but, my God, these people are relegated to fried dough for a reason. We ordered breadsticks that were simply forgotten about for 45 minutes. When asked about said breadsticks the portly cashier simply replied "My bad." After this we order pizzas to go (hoping this might expedite the process), instead I had to ask about pizzas after another 45 minutes and was told they "be out in a second." Another 25 minutes pass and I ask about our order to be old that "there was a problem with the oven" and they were "making our pizzas right now." After asking to cancel my order (as we'd been waiting almost an hour and half for two pizzas) one of the scraggly staff member said "fine, then you won't get pizzas" and the cashier ever-so-unenthusiastic decided to give us our $3.00 breadsticks for free! I nearly shat in my own hat after the staff had been so nice and this token apology was just the topping on the non existent pizza that I did not get to eat. The only way you should eat here is if you happen to have a Mr. Fusion built into your Delorean and have enough banana peels to get up to 88mph and travel back in time to the year you'd actually like to eat their food and order it then. read more

This is hands-down one of my favorite places in the universe. Fantastic food, great beers and awesome people. 12 taps of Craft and Belgian beers. No horse-piss swill. I'm fairly sure all of the employees are huge beer snobs, but not too condescending about it. There's also a great selection of bottles available. Wood-fired oven pizzas and calzones with a variety of both traditional and more eclectic bases and toppings. They also make a sort of fried pizza dough breadstick (called sgabei) that comes \with tomato and pesto sauces or topped with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. Also available is a calzone stuffed with a candy bar of your choice and deep fried, which is exactly as delicious and excessive as it sounds. They also have salads, topped with the same toppings they use on the pizzas. They're top notch too, but can quickly get expensive if you like lots of stuff on your salad. read more

Great brick oven pizza, in fact the best pizza in North Carolina as far as I'm concerned. The atmosphere is interesting and well, let's just say it's cozy. I don't drink beer but from the looks on folk's faces, and the amount of beer they sold while I was there, it must be pretty darn good. The only drawbacks are limited seating and no wait staff. I really don't think there is room to have a wait staff. I have been here just a handful of times but will be back for sure. read more

Oh, caper, how I love thee. I've been going here for years and it's as good as it gets. House made everything. The pesto is especially delicious. My personal favorite pie of theirs is 'The Lovely'. You wouldn't expect to find a wood fired brick oven in a modern condo building in Salisbury, but here it is! And then there's the beer selection...it's limited, but it's a great variety and high brow (sometimes Unibroue, even!). They have rotating taps and a larger selection in bottles. Occasionally, they'll run out of one or two; for example: any hefe in the summer. But this is a tiny establishment. Any beer they have you can sample before ordering. Just as a helpful note! If you're with a group, sitting outside is a good plan. Leaning back in the grass with a pint full of beer makes for an enjoyable night. If you have a date along, intimate conversation while sitting close at the bar staring at the fire is as good as it gets. read more

Pizza and beer. What else could you want? My husband and I like trying new beers and The Salty Caper is the place to do it. The staff knows their stuff about each and every single beer on the menu. We tried two different kinds each and they were all great. We got a spinach and feta pizza, it was absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious. The best pizza I've ever had. I can't wait to go back and try a different pizza. The only gripe is the seating. It seems almost haphazard, like they don't have enough space for the tables or something. The Caper is a solid brick oven pizza restaurant with all fresh ingrediants. I eat here just about every week and these guys stay on top of their game. In Salisbury there is no better pizza. Late night music could be a little lower but thats just me getting old. read more

Great selection of craft beer and pizza. Pizza is thin crust with gourmet toppings and was delicious. Caesar salad was okay, serve in a plastic container with plastic silverware. You do have the option to customize your salad with any of the same gourmet toppings available on a pizza. read more

The pizza here is great and service is good. My biggest issue is the "hard metal music" and lack of dining space. The music is WAY too LOUD to be conducive to good conversation with friends and family. Also, owners should look into expanding dining room for more seating options. Do away with the hard metal music and I will be back more than once a year. read more

Great artisan pizza. Cool little spot in Salisbury - definitely not to be missed. I really enjoyed the House pie, bbq chicken and prosciutto pizza (in that order). It's a relatively small place so you may have to wait for a table. I don't recommend going with more than 4 or so people as there aren't that many tables that seat large parties. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is nice. Looking forward to going back here soon! read more

I love all pizza and this is the best thin crust I've had in the Carolinas.

The pros: Moderately priced food of higher quality than other local places, consistency, ever revolving kegs of draught beers from around the world, and stays open later than most places in an otherwise sleepy town. Cons: Staff has been rude in the past. They have since become more professional. Cramped and loud inside environment on busy nights, but there is outdoor seating in the back which is a nice place to sit. If you want to visit the center of Salisbury hipsterdom, have a nice rustic pizza, and perhaps chat with a few locals, this is a cool spot. It's earned loyalty from lots of people. read more

Both my son's and several of their friends have eaten here bunches of times.So finally we met some friends Saturday night for supper.The wood fired pizza along had me wanting to eat here,but the numerous craft beers was the icing on the cake so to speak.In the door we noticed not a lot of room or seating.With our party of six we chose to sit at some tables out back.The options for there pizza or Calzones where a full list.We chose to large pies and a few of us got a salad to go with it.Salad's came in a clear cary out box.You sorta pick some sides and dressing and they bring it to your table.While we were placing our order I was trying to decide on my beer,the owner asked me what kind of beer I drank,When I told him he gave me and my son several samples of craft.Bad part I liked them all.Our daughter-in law went back in when she found out they had a KeyLime beer.She loved it,but she also likes Lemon anything dessert.Our pizza came out just at the right time.Their crust was dead on,Our toppings where fresh and the pizza was liked by all.You pay your tab when you leave.Not at the counter when ordering.I understood better since one of tables out side with us made several trips getting more beer.I liked their setup.The food and hospitality was great.I just hope it won't be long till our next trip back. read more

I would call this place kid friendly only on week nights, and then only if you are ok with a loud bar-like environment. Our two kids did fine, one 4 weeks miraculously slept through the entire dining experience, and 4 yo loved the pizza (plain cheese). We ended up spending around $55 for two premium beers and two large pizzas with the fried dough for desert. Seating is limited, however there are tables out back (which I would recommend weather permitting, as it looked quite enjoyable out there) We were traveling through on the way home from FL to VA. The friendly people at the table next to us were startled to discover we were from out of town. Chimay...its worth every penny just to be able to locate it local. If you dont like, loud music of a metal nature, if you dont like ordering at the bar, if you dont like great freakin pizza, if you only drink Bud Light, if you dont like feeling like every penny was well spent when you leave a place...well, you wont like this one..and I doubt anything short of psychic waitresses with free beer and food would make you happy... But...if you do, and realize it might take a few minutes to either get a seat, or your order.. Then..you will love this place. The pizza and beer here is great! I wouldn't exactly characterize this as a "family place" due to the small number of tables and loud music, but I have taken my daughter here. She loves to sit at the bar and watch the guys make the pizza. They are always very good with her and give her a good show. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to turn down the noise level a bit. Sometimes it's difficult to have a conversation with your companions. The Caper , wow what to say about this place. It's become somewhat of an institution here in the Bury, always known for its excellent pizza. All fresh ingredients on the pie and a large selection of brews to enjoy with said pie. It's kinda small and gets crowded pretty quickly, make sure that you go up to the bar to order anything because they're not coming around to take your order. Grab some extra napkins when you go up to order I love coming here but only hit this place up about three times a year and that's because every time that I leave I feel broke as hell. Its great food but man I feel like I dropped a whole paycheck in there. Food is a solo five stars but the price and lack of service drag it down to a three star joint. I've seen thin crusts in my lifetime but this is saltine cracker level thin. It doesn't fill you up.
