Let me start off by saying that I stand completely corrected about what I wanted. While here for a conference, we asked our hotel clerk to recommend food choices, including donuts. She mentioned this place and said we should make it our business to go. We were impartial but ended up on Congress St looking for food when we spotted this location. I'm sooooooo glad we decided against NOT going. As soon as we walked in we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance was totally welcoming. I love a good aesthetic and this was perfect. If you want to dine in, work, read a book, this is perfect. We were immediately greeted and the given recommendations on what we should get. I got the Key Lime and Strawberry shortcake. Everything was perfect...the filling wasn't too tart, the donut to filling ratio was perfect. The strawberry filling was definitely homemade. It was a donut I haven't had before. Yum yum yum! Elevated donuts have never been this good! I love that Salty uses fresh ingredients and always have fresh donuts on display. I stopped by Sunday morning around 10:30 AM and the crowd size was definitely picking up. I ordered a blueberry crumble cake which was delicious, not overtly sweet and the center had yummy blueberry jam. I tried my friend's churro croissant/donut which was also delicious. Lastly, I tried my other friend's brown butter and salt cake donut and it was also excellent. I also got a honey butter cinna-bun togo but haven't tried it yet. For my drink I got their hibiscus tea lemonade with homemade strawberry syrup and loved it. There's limited parking so plan accordingly. Prices are high for donuts but they're a good size, use quality ingredients and taste darn good! read more

The most incredible designer donuts with new and rotating flavors in Austin! I never leave without a Brown Butter but had to try all these seasonal kinds. The Pumpkin Pie Cake was next level heaven. Petition for it to be year round! The Candied Pistachio and white chocolate was insanely sinful with a nutty crust and glaze. The Chocolate Whoopie pie was like a lava cake! All bomb choices! Came here for an offline offer, tried three of their donuts and they are all pretty good but I wish it's a bit less sweet. The Horchata is really fluffy, pistachio has some crunchy nuts on top of the donut, and finished up with very creamy cookie and cream donut. The sizes of these donuts are def bigger than a normal donut you have in other donut shops. Service is pretty great, I like their interior design and it feels very welcoming. read more

I went around 9pm on a Friday night and although the donuts were a little cold, they were delicious. I love their dirty black chai latte. Clean restrooms, friendly staff and various seating area for group or individuals. Would definitely recommend going in the morning when the donuts are fresh and warm. The Salty Donut was one of the first shops I laid eyes on in the city when I drove down SoCo on my move to Austin, and I've been meaning to try it ever since. It took 8 months and a visit from my brother, but I finally did! Needless to say, it was exceptional. Their interior is cute, their service was good, the coffee was tasty and fresh, and their donuts were totally extraordinary. I got the banana pudding donut, and it was legit probably the best donut I've had in my entire life. A++. I came here a second time a few weeks later and even got free churro since they were closing down, which was a nice touch. Would recommend to anyone in the SoCo area or their original (I think) location in the Dallas Bishops Arts District. read more

Came in first thing on a Saturday morning and was impressed by the selection. I picked 5 donuts-tiramisu, horchata, churro, glazed and carrot cake. I love a good yeast donut and these were fresh and delicious. My favorite out of the bunch was the churro donut, which was in a star shape and filled with a slightly salty buttercream. I also ordered an iced latte and it was well prepared. They have some seasonal drinks in addition to the standard coffee shop faire. There are a few parking spots right out front, which made it convenient to get in and out of the store. In anticipation of Tampa's upcoming Salty Donut location, my friend and I decided to try it during our recent visit to ATX. I'm dairy-free, so we wanted to share a vegan donut but the only option was a ube piña colada donut. I feel like if there's only one vegan donut option, it should probably be something that's more classic that more people would have interest in. My friend decided to get the cookie butter donut instead, and I just had a piece of it. These donuts are more cakey than airy so if that's your jam, Salty Donut is for you! They're a good size, and the donut holes looked soooo good too. The cookie butter donut was good, a little dry. My friend said she'd had Salty Donut before in another city and it was the best donut she'd ever had, so I think we either picked an off flavor or an off day. I've been a fan of Salty Donuts since visiting their Dallas location! I ordered a large batch for my kid's birthday, and as always, they did not disappoint. I recommend trying the Key Lime Donut. The brioche was soft and chewy, while the cream filling had a tart lime touch and was sweet but not too sweet. I unfortunately was not a fan of the Cinnamon Cereal Milk Latte. It was way too sweet and almost syrupy. The atmosphere of the place is super nice though! Lots of seats with natural lighting, so I recommend if you want to grab a snack and do some casual reading or studying. If I could, I would rate 3.5 instead. Not bad at all. I ordered two kolaches. The brisket and cheddar one was just OK. I like the traditional kolache better. I ordered a Matcha tea iced latte for myself. I love that it wasn't sweet. Definitely evens out the sweetness of the donuts. They do offer different types of milk. I got mine with almond milk. They have inside and outside seating. Seating is limited. I saw multiple people take their food to go. I got there right before a big crowd, so I was able to find a spot in the corner. Parking can be tricky. First off these are eloquent donuts. They have a variety with delicious flavors. These donuts are not salty. They are a bit pricey, but these are not your average donuts. They are like a work of art donuts. The churro flavor was my favorite donut! I will say come early in the day if you are trying to try all flavors. It's a hit or miss if you come past noon for they variety they have. Parking is limited too, so be prepared to park in public parking if needed. If you have a big vehicle I would recommend the public parking. It's not easy maneuvering in and out the parking at this place. read more

My friends were in town for the day and their son was craving a donut and I did the selfless act of volunteering as tribute to go get them before meeting them. There's a few complimentary parking spots right out front if you're lucky to snag one! I didn't take advantage to dine in but it was super easy to order from their counter. Took a glance at their donut offerings and picked out a few. The flavors were all so unique sprinkled with a few classics. A few that stood out to me was the Texas chocolate cake sheet donut, churro con dulce de leche filling, and their cinnamon pear crumble.
