Not impressed for the waitlist they had. I expected better after waiting 45 minutes for a table outside. Even then, we were seated in a terrible spot tucked away along the building. No where near the front patio area were the music played. This may have been why our server left us hanging a few times. She seemed to have forgotten out pretzel appetizer since it came out pretty cold. However, it tasted great - crispy exterior with nice, soft inside and cheese that perfectly balanced the saltiness. The best of our entrees was the steak nachos. Huge portions and nicely cooked meat! Delicious but they place the cheese at the bottom, it sticking to the paper rather than the chips. Plus, the nachos were super burnt? My plantains were SO GOOD, just wish they were crispier. The cod was unseasoned and needed a lot of salt to save it. The fried shrimp was good, nothing remarkable. Stopped by for lunch. We were seated immediately. Sat inside as it was really hot that day and preferred some coolness. The booth we initially sat at was dirty and there was some smell in that area so we requested to move. It wasn't an issue with the request. Our waiter was nice. He is actually in the pic of a random pic I took. He was very attentive and quick with bringing drinks and refills. Don't take long with our food either. Everyone's food was tasty and hot. My wife had the Bacon Wrapped Scallops $20 and I had the Scallop Tacos $15. The place is using FAKE imitation Scallops!!! I asked the wait staff if they were imitation and she didn't know. The Sandbar is in the Coligny Plaza, so parking could be hard to find if you don't walk. They told us a 45 minute wait but were seated within 20 minutes. They take your phone number and text you when your table is ready so you can walk around the plaza while you wait. The interior is casual with a beach theme. My friends and I went to the Sandbar last night and got a bunch of different things to split and each item was to DIE FOR!! I feel like somehow we got the best things on the menu our on our first go! It was nice that we were able to sit outside even though it's still the off season, therefore a little chilly once the sun went down. But they had live music and the service was great! Now onto the important part: the food! The sweet potato tots were the perfect amount of tot to sauce ratio. The mango pepper sauce was something I was unsure about but it ended up being each of my friend's favorite item that we got! The jerk chicken Alfredo was good but we all agreed that we wanted a little more spice the balance out the Alfredo. The Rajun Cajun apps flavor was absolutely perfect. That slightly sweet flavor of steak with the tangy/spice of the horseradish sauce that came with it was heavenly! I didn't try the tacos but they were a hit with my friends. I will admit that when the description said pineapple salsa I was picturing something other than pico with pineapple on top. But it was still a hit! All in all The Sandbar did a great job with creating a great flavor profile that had equal amounts of sweet to savory. Amazing place to eat for seafood and tacos. We arrived late night, it was pretty packed so we were put on a waiting list, understandable so we went to sit somewhere to wait and within minutes we were seated. It was spectacular as we got an indoor seat. It was cold, I hate crowds and the live music was kinda bad. How do you mess up Santeria by Sublime?! Two words- HAPPY HOUR! They have amazing happy hour specials on all types of drinks plus bar bites!! Their food is awesome. Get the dip trio and wings! My husband got beer and I got the dirty monkey to drink. Their kids menu has lots of good options. My husband got a burger and tots and I got the fish sandwich and fries. The restaurant made my 5 stars list. The restaurant is located in a plaza with many other restaurants and shops. We were put on the waiting list that was about 25 minutes. We walked around the plaza while we waited. The waiter went above and behind to make sure we were satisfied. He even made our alcoholic drinks. The food was excellent. It was hot and delicious. After a day on the beach and you just want a casual Beach Bar Restaurant to chill. This is the place. If you can leave the beach and and skip the shower you can get there when Happy Hour Starts it's sooo worth it! Happy hour is from 4-6. They have both inside and outside seating. There was live Band playing on the outside stage, they were actually pretty good! If I remember correctly they were the Zach Steven's Band. I started off Happy Hour with a Dirty Monkey and then went to Pain Killer's, both were spot on and for a good price! For Appetizers, we went with Street Corn with chips and Wings, both very good. And for my main course I got the Crab Cakes, very good for a casual dinner place. Our waiter was excellent, very hard worker. After talking to him he was from just out side of Pittsburgh, close to where I grew up. That explains his Blue Collar work ethic. The food was very good. However, they had a band playing and seated our party right by the speakers. We have a 6 and 2 year old so it made for a horrible experience. Our table could not even have a conversation and we had to yell at the server so he could hear our order. Ate here Sunday night of Memorial Day Weekend. It was mobbed. Our poor waiter was definitely being overworked, but he made it look easy. The atmosphere is wonderful, they had live music that wasn't overbearing just nice background music. My wife and I split the shrimp cocktail which was maybe the best I've ever had. This was a great spot to eat options for everyone, whether you like seafood or not. Ended up here for a late lunch after Pool Bar Jim's cook went home early. Most of us had the grouper sandwich ($18), which was decent. Not the best, but respectable. The fries were great. The tartar sauce was delightfully dilly, albeit a bit salty. Server was attentive enough, though we feared the kitchen forgot to make a friend's well done burger, which didn't arrive until the grouper sandwiches were all but consumed. We waited over an hour after quoted a 30-40min wait so be prepared to wait especially if you want to sit outside. Our server Philip made up for the long wait with his prompt and personable greeting and drink order. He had our drinks and appetizer on the table within 10 minutes. Our food came out shortly thereafter and we were surprised how hot it was. Portions were very large. Two in our party shared the jerk chicken pasta and the shrimp and chips. The amount of shrimp was quite large creating an adequate meal for two. I had the seafood pasta and it was very good and loaded with lots of perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops. The drinks were fun and tropical as one would expect in a place like this. I just wish they had some options that didn't have pineapple juice. I ordered the strawberry lemonade and I am reasonably certain they forgot the booze so that one was not so exciting. I came here for dinner on Monday July 28th, at the recommendation of a local friend. I got there around 6:30, and they were slamming busy, with quite a few people waiting for tables. It was just me, so I went and looked at seats at the indoor bar, and just my luck there was 1 stool left at the end closest to the kitchen. A perfect seat for 1. The 2 male bartenders (sorry I don't remember their names) were so kind and patient. Being my first time I was very indecisive. And they pointed out their favorites and didn't rush me. I decided on the Sunset Crush cocktail and that was fantastic. Just what was needed on such a hot day. For food I decided upon the crab cake sandwich and fries. I also asked for a side of the sriracha mayo ( I saw it on the menu listed on a different sandwich) and wanted to try it. So good! The crab cake actually tasted like crab and wasn't packed with fillers. The fries were nice and crispy. The rumelade sauce that came with the crab cake was amazing. My husband and I have eaten here several times now and we've always had a great meal. I've had the fish tacos (excellent and a lot of food), the grouper beach plate (delicious and plenty of food), and the Sandbar salad with grilled salad (great, exactly what I needed that day, and a big portion of both salmon and salad). If you go for happy hour from 4-6pm they have draft Landshark lager for $3! We also started one of those meals with the nachos with pulled pork on them - be hungry if you order this, it's huge and super tasty! The staff is great, the bartender is friendly, and the live music, especially their Wednesday singer/guitarist and drummer, is really good! read more
