I was in TO for a medical appt and a bit hungry . There was also soooo much traffic on a Friday before Memorial Day, I did not want to sit in it hangry! Solid 3 stars for the food, but the service was a 5 with a friendly and quick staff! So 4. The food wasn't bad, but it just lacked flavor for me. I ordered the Californian sandwich and added tofu for protein. The artichokes tasted like they were from a can... Maybe switching to artichokes in a glass jar might help? The tofu was cooked nicely, but I wish there was more sun-dried tomato because a little more of that flavor could have improved the sandwich. My husband ordered the pastrami Tri-tip sandwich and he also thought it was just ok. Not bad, but not knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of Urbane cafe. They have large delicious salads and tasty sandwiches. I usually order takeout for lunch during the work week. Violent food poisoning with ER admission. I ordered the chimichurri steak sandwich around 7pm and it tasted off and had way too much sauce. Sure enough 5 hours later I had food poisoning so badly that I may have died without care. I spent all day ib the ER after several black out episodes . The doc confirmed definite food poisoning as all labs and scans came back clean. I vomitted more times in a 3 hour period than I have in my entire life. So badly that it pulled muscles in my back. It took the entire week to recover. Still not 100% Do. Not. Eat. Here. I am filing a thourough report with health inspectors. read more

Was disgusted to find a course black hair in my salmon bowl upon picking up my order today for lunch. I had already eaten half of the bowl prior to finding the hair attached to the sweet potato and felt so grossed out. I'm disgusted by the thought of what if I ate more hairs I didn't see? I love this location and have been frequenting for years. I trust the staff here. They are always attentive and accommodating. I haven't been to an Urbane Cafe that wasn't good, but this is my favorite. The staff is courteous, professional and honestly, something I would expect from a five star dining establishment. The food is always great and of great quality. The place is clean. Bathrooms too. Love anything with bacon, turkey, feta cheese, that balsamic vinaigrette, avocado, and that delicious fresh focaccia bread. The price of the meals fits what you get, and it's enough food for two. One of my trusted doctors recently suggested a dietary change, and I'm figuring out how to make that work when out at restaurants. Thankfully, Urbane Cafe has so many varied options for its guests. As someone else suggested, they can accommodate vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, and other diet styles. Dear Hubby and I stopped by to have a late lunch. We shared the Golden Turkey seasonal sandwich, holding the pepper jack (drat, dairy-free diet!). It was already prepared with veganaise, so that worked out. Their freshly prepared bread makes their 'wiches a winner. The cashier was very friendly and helpful with questions we had about other menu items before deciding on the Golden Turkey. The Manager on duty was also welcoming and got us sorted out on where the water cups hide for complimentary water. Normally we would have dined outside, but there was a cool breeze in the air. Inside, the air conditioning made it almost as cold as outside. We picked a table with the sun coming in the window, which gave a bit more warmth. We did each enjoy one of their cookies. Likely not vegan, but I'm working up to it. We've been here several times, but I'd forgotten to review until now. It's a solid choice for fast casual dining. I ordered the southwest chicken sandwich. The chicken was grilled to perfection and very flavorful. The avocado with the southwest sauce was great. The Brest was toasted to perfection and very soft. The side salad was the perfect combination with the salad. The sandwich all together was delicious and the flavors we're hitting on all levels. The customer service was great and very helpful.
