The service has been very friendly 2 of the 3 times I've been. Sure, the sandwiches take a little while to make, but I appreciate that they take their time with it and my sandwich is well stacked rather than slapped together. The first time I was there I was encouraged to try the pig and pickle when I was unsure between that and the pastrami. While I'm sure to try the pastrami sometime soon, so far I have chosen to satisfy my craving for the juicy and absolutely delicious pig & pickle. And I like their fresh and semi-dense sourdough; anything lighter would be a soggy mess with all that meaty juicy goodness piled on it! Give me fabulous food by friendly people and a picnic table on grass to enjoy it at - done deal - return customer again and again now that I've learned of this spot. Oh! Their lemonade, strawberry and lilikoi lemonades? Worth it. On a rainy day, the lemonade brought a bit of sunshine into my life and a smile to my face. And on sunny days it is refreshing. Thanks for that! The only problem is I went with friends the first 2 times and I didn't speak much during our lunch together as I was entranced with my sandwich. Oops!

I also thought the prices for sandwiches, which each come with a pickle slice and a bag of chips, were really fair. However, my wait ordering in person took quite a while, about 25 minutes for 3 sandwiches, which surprised me. For my sandwich specifically, the Smokey Pastrami on Sourdough bread, I found the meat a bit chewier than I expected, and was bummed that my bread wasn't toasted. I think toasting the bread could have changed the game for me, but it was still a good sandwich overall. For the other 2 sandwiches, my friends got a Pork n' Pickles and a BLAT. We all really enjoyed this place's pickles. My friends had no complaints with their sandwiches. We also all got a lemonade, 2 regulars and 1 strawberry, which were great! I wanted it to be a bit more tart, as they were on the milder/watered down side, but still hit the spot on a hot day, and the strawberry flavored one was def our favorite. Again, at $5 a lemonade, it felt like a good price for being in a food truck area with many tourists.

By now, anyone who is a fan knows their food so rather than another review, some tips for securing that last taste. 1. They are in a cellular dead zone. All calls made to their number from a cell phone will fail to connect. You MUST call using a land line phone (those things plugged in the wall with physical buttons to press). BUT... 2. They do not answer their phone if they are busy helping customers. Good luck. SO... 3. Go early and order in person. Popular items like the roast pork and hamburger steak sell out by 10am. Others like the kalbi and pulehu shrot ribs by 11:30. 4. Be patient. The wait time is 45min - 1hr. It is accurate. Use the time to grab poke and drinks in neighboring Laie or Kahuku. It's all worth it. Same loaded plates. Same nostalgic taste. Same aloha delivered with a smile. One last time.

My personal favorite is the kalbi ribs. They've got that backyard BBQ taste that feels like a homecooked meal, and it's usually what I end up ordering. Simple, comforting, and it just hits. I also love grabbing food here and taking it down the street to eat at the beach. It's one of those meals that feels even better when you're eating it by the water. I just read that they may be closing soon, and if that's true, thank you for all the delicious meals over the years and wishing the team nothing but the best moving forward.

We drove up to get there just before noon on a Saturday. It was rainy, so the numbers were a bit light in the area, but there were still thirteen people in line when the truck opened for business. The owner was fun, friendly, and engaging the customers in conversations while prepping the food. There are times when I think some food truck owners take on the role of a short order cook and get annoyed that you don't understand "how" you're supposed to order; that was certainly NOT the case here. You just need to decide if you want a hot or regular sandwich and whether you want bleu cheese or special sauce. We got one hot and one regular, but the chicken is HUGE and two adults can easily share one sandwich. I'm torn, because while we would probably order just one sandwich next time, I also want to support the business and get two. The chicken was as good as everyone told us and had incredible crispy batter. The fries though...those were maybe the best I've ever had. I don't normally love the double cooked style fry, but could live off those and never get tired of them. FYI...we took ours to eat at the Beer Garden about 100 yards to the west and that's a winning combo.

In 2021, it had abbreviated hours due to the pandemic but in 2024 it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although there are breaks between meals when it is closed. The menu offers a lot of choices for each meal. There seem to be people eating here all the time so I guess it is a convenient and popular option for guests at the hotel (like us). This trip we had a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, and potatoes; bagel; pancake;, oatmeal; and assorted drinks (latte, tea, juice, hot chocolate). The food is genrally good, but it is a bit pricey. I suppose that is to be expected in Hawaii and in a hotel. A very modest breakfast for 2 with tax and tip usually exceeds $50. Service is friendly and the food comes out moderately quickly. You order at the cash register, they give you a number, and you find a table inside or outside and they bring your food. We like to sit outside and enjoy the weather so the ambience is pleasant. There are other restaurants in the area that are cheaper if you want to get in your car. Or, you can walk to the Polynesian cultural center where there are quite a number of food trucks and some of them serve breakfast. All trucks are open during lunch and dinner time.
