We have loved this place for the last 3 years until today. My husband ordered the fishs tacos, the sauce they used was spoiled my husband as customary used a bunch of ketchup to give it taste, well bad taste got masked, but I tasted them after he told me it tasted bad, OMG it was bitter slimy. We told the waitress, I guess they didn't belive us and gave us a 50% discount for spoiled tacos, I had to go trow up my meal because it was disgusting and not to say my husband will probably get sick for consuming bad tacos. I feel sick... We go there every week because it's always great, until tonight that we got treated like liars . They should value and respect their clients opinion. Never again ! read more

I came on one of the busiest sunday , Father's day, I wanted to see how they did to accompany a large fast crowd, and to my surprise I was seated right away, with a smile. I was waited on by a really nice woman named Jessica, she came over right away, no waiting to take my drink order, unsweet tea with lemon, very soon after she took my food order, Orange Butter Salmon, with creamy mashed potatoes and Asparagus. I waited for awhile for the food, it was very busy, but Jessica kept checking on me, and kept me with plenty of iced tea. I was not disappointed when the food arrived, potatoes were skin on mashed, and creamy, the salmon is farmed, not wild caught, and the Asparagus is a premium side costing and extra 5 bucks, everything was cooked perfect, and very tasty. This place has seating indoor, outdoor,and a Tiki bar with music, although not sure if it was karaoke because the lady singing wasn't very good, much better when they played recorded music from real artists. Overall I was impressed that they got things out as fast as they did, and service was so amazing, would definitely recommend coming here for some seafood read more

On busy Route 1. Doesn't look like much but once inside there are several inside and outside seating choices. Right on the river the outside seating areas offer expansive views and during the daylight hours you will see fish jumping, birds diving and possibly dolphins or manatees. If you sit on the deck kinda near the band on a Sunday night you won't get service. I'm guessing it's not a section even though there are tables. Had multiple servers walk past me. Despite the three star rating we decided to give The Shack Riverfront Restaurant a try. I can honestly say it didn't disappoint. The decor and views of the Bay are amazing. The food and service were outstanding. Lastly, the band was great...they played everything from the Beatles to Bob Marley to Snow Patrol. I had the grilled sesame tuna salad. It was fantastic! The tuna was cooked perfectly rare with the sesame crust making it crispy. The dressing was tangy and balanced out the sweetness of the fruit in the salad. The services was prompt and we were in and out for lunch in an hour. read more

We hadn't been to a restaurant in a very long time. We chose The Shack because of the location, which is wonderful. The food, not as much. I ordered crab cakes ($30), which I would have been glad to pay if they were not 75% bread crumbs. The lettuce in the salad was past its' prime. I was served lobster bisque which I did not order and my husband ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and was served bacon wrapped scallops. When I brought this to my waiters' attention, he actually argued with me as far as what I ordered. Being in the food service industry for years, rule number ONE is to never contradict the customer as to what they ordered. We really wanted a nice dinner out, this was a very disappointing experience. We will not be back. read more

I am only giving this restaurant 3 stars because our waitress and the staff deserve FIVE STARS. Food was okay and definitely over priced for what you get. I would have given an overall of four stars, but I ordered the salmon and it came straight up raw. A very nice server offered to get me a new order because he saw it and agreed. He came back out and said the chef had refused to remake it and only would rehear it. Even After reheating it was still relatively raw. This is honestly unacceptable in my mind because of food safety. However, I will reiterate that the servers were phenomenal. read more

We ate light all day anticipating eating at the Shack. Menu looked spectacular. We arrived around 6 PM. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot, which always seems like a good thing. There were a few parking spaces available, but as I attempted to back into one the valet attendant approached and said it was valet parking only. I asked even with these open spots? He said yes. We should have left right then and there. From the outside, the restaurant looks like an old fishing shack, but the inside is beautiful and the view of the river is breath taking. Appeared to be 3 seating options- indoor,outdoor, and outdoor bar seating. There was a live band playing in the bar area. We chose to dine indoors. Waitress service was excellent. We can't remember her name, but she was very attentive. I drink lots of water and I never had to ask her to refill my glass. Now to the food! We always order 2 appetizers when we eat out, one of which is always calamari if it is available. We ordered the calamari and the shrimp and scallop seafood melt. The calamari came out first. Hands down this was the worst calamari we have ever had. It was chewy and bland, obviously not fresh. We were even questioning whether it was frozen bagged calamari. Again the worst calamari ever. Next up was the seafood melt. This was actually edible. A little soupy and bland, and the bread/baguettes were on the stale side, but lots of shrimp and scallops. For entrees, we both ordered the fish your way. We both chose fried grouper. I was immediately disappointed when the grouper showed up at the table and I noticed the heavy batter used. I even said to my wife that it looked like a piece of chicken fried steak, not a piece of fish. Note to cook- with seafood the lighter the batter the better! I ordered the prime side of asparagus for $5. 3 stalks showed up. They were fairly big stalks, but at other restaurants this would be at least 5. Back to the fish. It was edible, but the heavy breading ruined it. As I continued to eat it, I realized the breading was actually similar to a corn meal breading like you would use on catfish. I doubt it was, but it actually taste like catfish at times. Questionable whether it was from a bag and not a fresh filet. Either way, absolutely the worst grouper filet we have ever eaten. Very disappointed overall. Will not be back. Cannot recommend!! read more

Another awesome seafood restaurant in the area! People always friendly and accommodating! Had lunch here with with several colleagues and the waitress was really helpful with splitting the bills for everyone individually. I had the seafood skillet and it was delicious. The serving was huge, with so much shrimp and scallops. The garlic butter was perfect. Would recommend this dish for any seafood lover! The bartender finally acknowledged that he needed another beer. Food is overpriced and we waited over 40 minutes for our food. We ended up asking a different bartender (because we were ignored the other one...) to please check on our food and when we did get it, it was cold and they brought us the incorrect food that was ordered. Honestly this restaurant is very underwhelming food wise. I ordered the 35$ lobster roll and the lobster was slightly overdone leaving it a little tough the lettuce is soft so doesn't add great texture and the bun is essentially a hot dog bun which is much too large for the amount of filling it has and isn't toasted so has poor texture overall very sad the French fries it came with had good seasoning but were a little underdone so they were soft. My fiancé liked her food mostly but the scallop piccata was extremely acidic she likes acid but it was very intense also we ordered the calamari appetizer which was also over cooked very chewy. I went with friends for breakfast. Let me list issues. 1) they off heated maple syrup. It is regular pancake syrup NOT maple syrup. 2) breakfast of eggs,sausage Patti and home fries All were cold. She took my plate It came back with eggs now hot Sausage as hard as a rock could not slice or cut with a knife. What I thought was rye toast was marble bread. Bread raw bread not toasted nor buttered. An all round poor experience. We got our bills and the waitress asked if I would like to speak to a manager? Issues: Waitress asked far too may questions She should have volunteered to have a whole new breakfast made for me.. After telling the waitress about the hard as a rock overcooked in microwave sausage she should have summoned management immediately. The whole experience was strangely unpleasant.
