Stopped in for a Saturday breakfast. Had a short wait to be seated as it was crowded. But expected for a Saturday morning around 0930am. Was seated in an end booth but had to wait a little extra time before someone asked about our drinks. A little after our server showed to take our order. I have always read the specials after we ordered. But today as we waited I was able to read all the specials. Saw that the French Toast sampler seemed like a good deal, compared to the 2 x 2 x 2 French Toast meal on the menu. The special gave you home fries, ham, bacon, and sausage in addition to the 2 eggs and French Toast. All for the same price as on the menu. Definitely made the right choice and certainly will pay more attention to the Specials board. Food was excellent as always, came quickly too.

Great little spot. They have three locations that are open all day, they serve breakfast and lunch foods as well. Their prices are a little higher than average for breakfast items, but the flavor makes up for it. Even on a busy day the service was great.

You will definitely get your money's worth at The Shack. We arrived on a busy Saturday morning. There was one family ahead of us, but our wait was only five minutes. There were so many options on the menu that I almost didn't want to read the specials board. It was hard making the decision but in the end The Mess won and so did I! My plate arrived piled high with potatoes, veggies, sausage, eggs, cheese & bacon. Instead of toast i received a side of not one, but two pieces of delicious cornbread. I had so much food leftover that I was able to make two more meals. My son ordered the corned beef hash and toast. I was surprised to find that they didn't make their own hash. This dish was hardly seasoned and not well done as requested. That being said, it didn't slow him down from eating almost the entire meal. My mother-in-law ordered the Popeye Scramble, a plate scrambled egg, spinach, mushrooms & Swiss cheese with a side of home fries and toast. She was impressed with the meal and portion size. My husband ordered eggs, toast, bacon and home fries. His home fries looked different from the ones in my Mess. They were not seasoned enough for him, even after adding salt & pepper, he wasn't impressed. Three out of the four of us would return.

In Waterford very close to New London. Awesome service, plenty of seating good coffee, we enjoyed the turkey dinner, grilled cheese and fries and the Shack burger. Excellent parking, convenient to multiple stores as it is located in a shopping plaza.

Why can't we have this in New York?!? I'm missing it already! We were gifted with the most amazing warm buttery cornbread, the best we've had. Then, we had the "kitchen sink" and french toast. I think the pictures say it all, top notch breakfast with excellent service and low prices.

Very nice restaurant and staff. Had both breakfast and lunch there at separate times. Their food is good she they give a lot of food. The restaurant is a bit crowded though, but the wait isn't bad.

Good place to eat. Especially for breakfast. Large portions and decently priced but I personally thought the food was lacking some flavor. However, I would recommend.

Came here for breakfast with some friends. Okay food, but i'm not a fan of diner food overall. The omelette was yummy, potatoes were average. We also got a plate of mozzarella sticks with onion rings and they were yummy.

The shack dog with their homemade onion rings. Footlong with bacon & cheese. Pickle spear for size reference!

Music was a bit loud for our taste, but the outside patio was refreshing and had shade on a very sunny day. Love the variety on the menu; I got the bao buns which were tasty and a just-right portion for me. I don't remember what my dining companion got, but I remember he liked it. We loved our experience and would return for sure. We noticed that they kept trying to seat people at the first table on the patio in front of the doors that go from inside to outside, and everyone (including us) would ask to be sat at another table further away. Seems like that table needs to be moved further away or only set up when needed; no one wants to sit that close to the doors.

Therefore, I will need to revisit to give a better review. I visited The Blue Duck this past Monday, on Presidents' Day at happy hour. I got there around 3 and left just before 5. The wings were 5 for a little over $5 or something like that. Which honestly $1 wing in this economy! Excellent for my pockets. Anyways, the place was quiet, a few people did start coming in as I was leaving, and again, I came on a Monday. Not really a peak bar day. But I would say the location is near the water which is a plus. The seating area at the bar was massive. I'm curious to see how busy it gets on the weekend. This isn't necessarily and instagramable/ social media picturesque kind of spot. Ok, so the wings- I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH- they were AMAZING . I love it when the skin after being smothered in sauce is still crispy. And they were! The blue cheese wasn't liquidity or too chunky. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The best part- for me- is that they were the shoestring kind of fries. I'm not big on the steak fries or thicker cuts. They were salted just right! No condiments needed for dipping. I ordered two drinks, which I honestly wasn't too impressed by. But it's my bad. I probably should have stuck to shots or basics like A sour of some sort. Idk. The other drinks could be delicious. Overall the only reason at this point that I'm coming back is the wings. Truthfully, the only reason I traveled 45 minutes to New London was after seeing an IG post about all-you-can-eat wings on Mondays. Sadly they aren't doing that anymore.

You would think a spot would be packed for Sunday brunch, but we walked in to a completely dead restaurant--just two couples sitting at the bar. We got seated, but it quickly became clear that the bartender (who I assume was also the manager) was the only person working the entire front of the house. The Service & Wait To say the service was slow is an understatement. It took so long just to put in an order that we were highly tempted to walk out. The only reason we stayed was because we had an hour to kill. While the bartender was genuinely friendly--and even nicely gave me the last of the batch he had mixed--the good attitude simply couldn't make up for the agonizingly long wait. The Drinks & Food The Mimosa: It was a premixed blend that was about 90% orange juice and 10% champagne. The Fries: The lone bright spot of the meal. They were nicely seasoned and easily the best part of the experience. The Side Caesar Salad: I really wanted to love the Caesar dressing because it actually tasted homemade. Sadly, it was so incredibly overloaded with salt that I'm genuinely shocked I'm not blind. After two strikes and two back-to-back fails, I'll sadly have to bow out from giving this place a third chance. There are too many other spots to choose from to waste time on slow service and unexecuted food.

While browsing the menu, Anna came out to greet our party and ask if we had any questions with the menu- this is a kind of service that you don't usually expect nowadays. Everyone at the table got different things and we all left with clean plates. I think we all agreed that this was one of the best meals we've had. As a result we were able to taste a number of their starters, a real winner was the crab rangoon tart there. For dinner we ordered tasting sizes of the pasta alla vodka and beef bolognese. I really like the thoughtfulness of having smaller plates be an option, for whatever reason you want it for. Also, they used campanelle pasta, rather than your standard noodles. Some real awareness of the right pasta pairing for the sauce evidenced for you. The only quibble there was the lack of seasoning in the sauce, but there was salt on the table to bring that up. The service is wicked friendly and attentive. The ambiance is certainly bohemian, with mismatched furniture and faux foliage hanging from the ceiling. The biggest ding is accessibility. One of the people at the event was in a motorized chair, and in order for them to move about or get to the restroom was a production. The tables and chairs are tightly packed, so I'd imagine someone on crutches or a walker would also have difficulty of movement. The menu changes as local ingredients come in or out of season. The current menu is available on their website. It is not large, so you know they're doing a few things and doing them right. I can recommend checking this place out.
