I've been here twice, but one time I left without ordering due to how in demand this place is. Sunday morning they get slammed like most places. The food is solid, the decor is unique, kinda hipster, comfortable, not too loud or quiet. I was told the kitchen was a little behind and the food would take about 30 minutes but they actually had it out in about 15. (Bonus points for under promise and over deliver) The breakfast burrito was massive and smothered in sauce. Tasty but different than I expected. The only complaints are: Limited and tight parking in the area. I didn't have to hunt for a spot but my larger vehicle required paying attention and careful maneuvering Some of the food was out of stock so I had to change up my order. They ran out of cookies early and there wasn't a lot of small desert options in the first place. Satisfying... Wow, there are places that you go to, and it just feels like home, well this is that place. If you don't know which house it feels like, you will likely want it to be your own. This place has fantastic staff, always very welcoming and calming when you come to join them for a delicious bite. I have tried to keep my mind open and order many items on their menu every time I go (I have a habit of finding my favorite item and sticking with that). Well, I am thrilled that I decided to try all the things. Every single dish I have ordered has never left me disappointed. went for brunch on a saturday with my sisters and it was super busy. we got the bacon mac n cheese (i do not typically order mac n cheese when i go out, but kid sis wanted it) and it was surprising really good and had a good amount of perfectly cooked bacon. we also got the chilaquiles and buttermilk pancakes, both good. pancakes weren't exceptionally special but the chilaquiles is hits the spot when you have a craving. read more

I don't know where to start. I could just read off the whole menu because you must try everything. This is what I would call New Mexican with a Mexican and French twist. All top quality ingredients and amazing sweets and coffee. My favorite plates are the duck hash and eggs, the chilaquiles, chorizo torta, the eggs Benny, and any fried chicken they make! The Shop is nicely tucked away with a reasonably sized parking lot, which is an impressive feat for a Nobhill business. Inside, The Shop is cozy and colorful with its funky chairs and gaming systems. I ordered the chilaquiles, not realizing how ginormous the portions were! I ate until I was full but hardly made a dent in my mountain de chilaquiles. Luckily that just gave me 2 meals in one. My fiancé and I went there and this was my first time. I ordered the blue corn lemon curd pancakes. They were delicious. It was something about the lemon curd with blue corn pancake. The hevous rancheros was amazing as well. It was so many different flavors in my mouth at once!! I enjoyed the salsa with green Chile and the tortilla and potatoes. I took 2 of my kids here because i see it many times on Instagram. We were a little confused upon walking in. We weren't sure where to go or what to do so I edged my way ( their were others standing around as well) up to the counter and asked the young girl how this works? She handed us menus and said that we order with her and then find s seat. All I can say is YUUUM. We came here for breakfast and it was awesome! It's a tiny restaurant located very close to the college town and our hotel, which was a convenient choice to have breakfast at. SERVICE The cashier was super enthusiastic and friendly. You can sit down at the tables and someone will bring the food to you. But no one ever checks up on you, so there's no need for tipping at all. FOOD The food was absolutely delicious. My bf got the duck hash and it was super yummy. It had a bit of spice but the chili sauce isn't too spicy, it's more tangy than fire. I got the eggs benny, which is a great choice bc they cook the eggs very well and the pulled pork is very well seasoned. I'm glad to have got a taste of New Mexico. PETS Dogs are allowed on the outside patio area. PARKING They share a parking lot with other stores around and it's a small lot. This place was alright. With the reviews I was expecting better so I'm gonna be honest. I got the breakfast burrito and it looked so good but didn't meet my expectations. It was too salty and it was missing something. I'm not sure what but it just wasn't the best breakfast burrito I've had. I can say the red Chile was good but it wasn't hot. My friend got the French toast and she did say that it was really good but a little dry. It also looked really good. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but I know if I come back I won't get the breakfast burrito again. The place is very modern and they support local art which is really nice and something I enjoy. I was very happily impressed. I dragged my 3 giant redneck brothers and my boyfriend and his kids down to this little hipster shop, and everybody loved it. The food was amazing!!! The coffee hot and delicious and the staff so kind. There were 10 of us, and my brothers are not little dudes! And no one left hungry. I cannot wait to go back and try other things on the menu. I did think they used potatoes rather liberally- but I'm probably overly sensitive that because I love potatoes but potatoes hate me. Also. Complete side note entirely unrelated to food? They looked absolutely fabulous and I got to eat the blackberries off of at least one kids plate. They are very generous with their portions, and all of the kids (okay they're all teenagers, and one of my brothers)loved them. The other two brothers both got the biscuits and gravy with the chorizo red chile craziness! They both would have locked the plates clean if I wasn't watching! They loved it. My love got the breakfast burrito smothered in red chile- with sausage. He's not a huge fan of sweet sausage, but I am! I thought it was great! I ended up picking out most of them but it wasn't worth eating really. I think they need to put a big period after that name, because it really is such a cool name and really highlights the theme of this local restaurant: take simple food and make it taste really good. Just like take a simple name and make it stand out. I will start with the atmosphere. Very laid back, but it is all one big open space which doesn't really provide for much privacy and really does not set it apart at all. To be honest, I would say it really does not have an atmosphere or style. (reason for deduction of 1 star) I can now say that I have been here twice recently and both times I was pleasantly surprised by what they provide. Both times I had the same dish, which was spectacular, but I can highlight a few other dishes as well, as I ate sociably and did try the dishes of my fellow diners as well. Duck Confit has was the dish that I enjoyed very much both times. It is the perfect combination of flavor from the duck with a nice red chile glaze of crisp potatoes, and of course two eggs over top for a bit of extra flavor and delicious yolk running throughout the dish. The second time I tried it, however there really was not much duck confit and actually some different type of mushrooms that looked like meat (thats one of the reasons i give 4 stars). Other dishes that I can attest to are the homemade biscuits with chorizo gravy and eggs over top. A total winner and a great twist on a southern classic. I also tried the pancakes which came with three ridiculously large pancakes and some fresh fruit. I can say for the price an the flavor, you need to choose these. Service sucked from the get-go when I called to place an order over the phone. I thought maybe they must be busy and I was calling at an inconvenient time. But no, I walked in and there were only three people in the place. Counter girl (glasses, tattoos) wasn't necessarily rude, but uninviting and unfriendly. Never smiled once and when I said, "Thank you," she responded with "Mhm." She basically ran my card, turned the tablet so I could type in a tip/sign and walked away. As a server/bartender myself, do you have any idea how much money you could make by being NICE? Counter girl should try it sometime. Food: They were out of tomatoes so substituted avocado, I was happy about that. Weird that they didn't ask me first though just in case I didn't want the avocado. The eggs were far past done. I know it wasn't just from sitting in the box because the lettuce was very cold and I just got there as they put the order up. Food would be 10x better if the eggs were cooked appropriately. The Eggs Benny was super dry without the gooey yolk to moisten the dry biscuits. Duck hash was good, wish the eggs weren't practically hard boiled. I ordered over medium but they were fried hard. Red chile is great, but it's layered on the bottom of the hash pile, making it difficult to distribute evenly. I used to enjoy Late Night when it was here after hours, and when I read the day menu, I wanted to try The Shop. Add that to my list of regrets. read more

I hit up this joint a while back and vaguely remember the breakfast was good but the place was crawling with hipsters with babies. Today I was back for lunch. I went for the cheesesteak and a bottled Mexican coke. The cheesesteak was delicious with soft and tender beef mixed with some crunchier bits. The cheese was creamy and the greenchile and onions were perfectly cooked. The bread was a bit chewy but not big issue. It was empty on a Wednesday at noon (A.R.T.) the staff was awesome freindly and earnest and chill as fuck. The place was colorful with vibrant art and quite possibly the best playlist I've heard in a restaurant. My bud got the duck confit sammy and we cleaned those plates fast! I'll be headed back to try their breakfast again but I truly reccomend the lunch. Stop four of Fried Chicken Week was The Fried Chicken Sandwich here at The Shop. for the event it was at a special price, but it would be well worth repeat visits even at the usual menu listing. The sandwich was perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. The breading of the white-meat tenders crisped and cracked nicely to reveal the toothsome chicken holding that subtly rich tang and extra-juicy succulence of brine treatment. The fries were not the most astounding, but they were all-together stand-up potatoes and dressed the meal to perfection. Realistically, this sandwich would feed me for two meals, or be enough to feed both Raz and I at a given lunch. Thus, even at regular menu price it would feel like a total bargain. We're super happy The Shop has its doors open, and we're likely to pop in as we head back to our offices in the coming weeks. read more

Now that The Shop's been humming along for a few months, I think we can at least reconsider the long-running theory concerning why business after business in this triangle mall fails: location. Chocolate havens, comic book bastions, a beach-themed restaurant (which was awesome, so sorry to see you go, Bailey's), so many great places have gone ashes-to-dust. Judging from my last two visits to The Shop, I'm wondering otherwise. Here's a thought: give the college students what they want, and they will indeed come. In droves. We tried to eat at this place one Sunday around noon. The girl at the register grabbed a menu and circled, in red marker, all of the stuff they'd run out of. Two-thirds of the offerings were off limits. "We didn't expect... this" she gestured, peering out at a completely packed dining room. Neither did I. Front to back, every table filled. We decided to hit up Amore next door, which was unfortunately closed. We returned on Tuesday and found bliss. Two meals for each sammie (these are baguettes, solid, with plenty between the buns), the Cuban was eh, pretty good, the carne adovada torta exceptional. No wonder this place is a huge hit for students. I can't wait to try the breakfast options. Service is counter-side, you order and they bring 'em. Here's a tip headache, for sure: do you tip? How much? I totally wanted to tip 'em but they're not, you know, waiting on you. Should you tip? I dunno. Especially when half the menu isn't available. So whatever. Located in the "triangle" off of Monte Vista in the Nob Hill Area, this quaint little eatery is quite the treat. Approach the counter, place your order, have a seat & your food is delivered to you. Table. Booth. Or high bar. All are great spots to munch out. The menu ranges from breakfast, to lunch, to lite bites & more. For me I opted in for the Duck Confit (duck prepared in its own fat, what a yummmmmy duck that was!!!). It came with either chips or a side salad, I opted for the latter. And I WAS NOT disappointed. I was supposed to take a picture, but I don't think you guys wanted to see a picture of an empty plate as that's all that was left after I devoured it all. I was pleased with the appearance of the food, the cost, the staff and the overall feel of "The Shop". I have plans to return, because there are a few more things on the menu I'd love to try. read more
