Great bar scene, solid outdoor seating options, and one of the best happy hours in the area. Great prices but a great selection of what is included. Monday nights is half-price wine night too. Their tapas-like choices are amazing and the service is always fast and friendly. They mix great cocktails here. Mixed well and presented even better. The Indoor seating is well laid out and in the summer the windows open to bring in the light and air. Things get business when the weather gets nicer so suggest reservations but they'll also accommodate you having a drink while you wait for a seat. The three of us had outdoor lunch on a sunny Saturday. We started with marinated beets Agrodolce and roasted Brussels sprouts. The beets were a real disappointment. They were obviously taken out of a can, had a Wishbone honey glaze poured on them and sprinkled a little blue cheese. The Brussels sprouts were much better. Our entrees included a lobster roll, the salmon PLT sandwich and San Mariano mussels. All were of ample proportion and well prepared, a heaping of French fries. I had the mussels and paired it with a glass of Justin Sauvignon blanc. It went well. What was also disappointing, there was little effort to make the food standout or emphasize any flavors. Here is the good and the not so good from my first dining experience at The Sinclair. The good: The Fried BBQ oysters were fantastic! I was initially apprehensive, but they tasted fresh and delightful. Most addicting. Pan fried gnocchi with braised short ribs was richly flavorful and most filling. Pan frying gave the gnocchi a crunchy exterior that added texture to the dish. House magarita was really good: Wood tables tastefully set, textured water glasses and a bottle of water brought to the table. Excellent. Beautiful chandeliers decorate the space. The not so good: Loud. A tad too dark. I could barely read the menu. T.V.s from the bar area visible from my table. (I was seated directly in front of bar so would request elsewhere if I go again) No draft beer, very limited bottle selection and none I cared for. Not all menu items seen on Yelp or website are available. Portions are small (3 oysters) and prices are high. My server was the bartender and he did a fine job, but had to run back and forth from my table to bar, while I noticed other staff just wandering about looking lost. While my overall experience was pleasant and I did enjoy the food, I am not sure I feel compelled to return. read more

Went to the Sinclair tonight. We were all ready to have some fun after a long day at work and to see a band. Well the only good thing about this restaurant was that they got rid of our first server and gave us a new one. The individual was nothing short of a total ass. He rushed us, made us feel uneasy and was a bully. The manager replaced him but did nothing for our major inconvenience. The food was as average to below average as possible. Sinclair has top tier happy hour and brunch, as well as normal meals without deals. My recommendations are the brunch bowl and jambalaya. For drinks, the Amelia and chamomile margarita are very tasty. I'm a regular here and my *only* complaint is that the mimosas and Bellinis for bottomless brunch are pre-mixed (as someone who would prefer to use a dropper to add juice to a glass of Prosecco for a mimosa, I'm not a fan. The Sinclair is a great choice for a lovely happy hour in Fairfield. My friend and I were seated on the breezy patio and promptly attended to. We took advantage of the somewhat extensive happy hour menu and I started off with a refreshing Aperol Spritz. The Fried Meatballs with tomato and basil were the standout dish for me. They were perfectly executed, moist with the freshest sauce. We also indulged with the oysters which were large and a great value, and the Mariniere Mussels in a pot. This final dish was another flavor bomb, beautifully presented and I wanted a spoon so I could drink the sauce after! I just wish that the bread was served on the side so that it stayed crisp until I dunked it in the sauce. I hate writing reviews like this, because I'm always torn when the difference between food and service is so significant. But in this instance, I had to rate on the side of lower (service) because it was that bad- bad enough that good food couldn't completely save it. Background: This past Sunday, we were having a small brunch group of ladies getting together to celebrate my cousin's second child- a sprinkle, they call it. There was 12 of us, and no children. We arrived and they put us on a table on the little outside patio which was great. I'd like to preface this with, we are all grown woman. We all stayed in our seats. We weren't disruptive, demanding, or overly loud. As a former server myself, I can say with complete confidence that we were doing nothing (other than being a larger table) that would cause our server to treat us with such rude and distasteful behavior. Food: This was my first time there, but I would give it four stars overall. There is a lot of selection- seafood to steak to pasta, and brunch to lunch to dinner as well as an expansive liquor/wine/cocktail menu. I had the eggs benedict, sub salmon for bacon, which was good. It came with tater tots (those were great, note they call them "breakfast potatoes") and a small mixed green salad. I also tried the shishito peppers and buffalo cauliflower. Both were delicious. Most other people had salads which all looked good- but I just can NEVER support almost 20 dollars for a plate of salad with a few shrimp. I don't care how bougie of a restaurant it is. That's why I am not giving it 5 stars. The good looked good and tasted good, but it seems in this day an age anytime a restaurant puts a minuscule amount of presentation and quality ingredients into their food, the minimum cost of an entree is then $15 ... for a lunch portion. My eggs benedict ($19) were good, but they were a $12 dish. They tasted no better than the eggs benedict I've had at 5 other brunch places just like it. I can't speak to the dinner entrees. We also tried some Sangria (good, but too juicy imo), and the frose margarita (good) as well as some prosecco and wine (also good). Service: And this is where we go awry. Again, we were a larger than average group CLEARLY there for a special occasion. There was a balloon tied on the new mommy's chair and a pile of presents. We chose this location for our celebration. But what was our joyous occasion was clearly just a huge pain in the a** for Server #12 (I didn't catch his name, bu the check said server #12). He never greeted us, he never smiled, he never said a friendly word. He never poured water, refilled wine, made recommendations or made any kind of conversation. He never checked on our meals. What did he do? He made it obvious our presence there was cramping his style. When the frose machine ran out, he aggressively told me, obviously thinking I would fight back, and when i said no worries it's not a big deal, he was clearly taken aback he wouldn't have a further excuse to be rude to me and ran off (never bothering to replace my drink with something else until I flagged him down and pleaded for sangria). We were sitting on the table in the hot sun, and he left our dishes there far after we were done, and when he finally decided to remove them, this action was clearly so annoying to him he yanked the melted dish of oyster ice violently across the table, spilling water all over my mother and aunt. He then ran off without even an I'm sorry, let alone bringing over napkins or towels to mop it up. It's never a good sign when the topic of conversation at your event isn't the occasion at hand, but rather how bad the service was. Maybe he was having a bad day, maybe the bus boys weren't clearing dishes like they should, maybe he had a hex put on him but sir, as a server, that is not your table's fault and you should NEVER take it out on us or make us feel like we don't belong at your establishment. The icing on the cake was when he never got even a second drink for someone at the table who ordered the bottomless brunch, and then argued with my aunt who pointed out she only had one glass of sangria and still charged us for that instead of the price of one drink. Gee buddy, thanks. It was so bad my mother, who never says anything about anything, actually emailed the restaurant directly. It's been at least 24 hours...still waiting for acknowledgement which is what prompted me to come to YELP and tell the tale for everyone to see. Feel free to visit The Sinclair, and I would even go back (I liked the aesthetics as well)... but head for the hills if you see server #12 and maybe have your special brunches somewhere else. The Sinclair was excellent! Great food served hot! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They were very accommodating and up front with their ability to provide gluten free options. Almost anything can be made GF. However, they do not have separate deep fat fryers for French fries and they sadly do not offer GF rolls or bread so this limits your sandwich options. There are plenty of plates meals to order GF. The party of six I was with had a nice leisurely lunch on a Friday afternoon. The Sinclair looked busy by the appearance of the outdoor seating, but there were tables available indoors. My party ordered, the Chicken Parm "wedge" delicious! The Cubano, really good! My pic-key 15 year old son gave the pasta and meatballs two thumbs up. My daughter got the Atlantic Salmon. The rest of the party ordered kale and beat salads, one with grilled chicken and one with steak. The restaurant serves brunch until the early afternoon. Enjoy, I recommend The Sinclair. read more

I almost wished it was served with apple sauce instead of grits. I will say the chop was well seasoned, and the gravy was lip smacking good! You should also know that everyday - The Sinclair is serving up a bottomless brunch. My go to drink is the sangria. If you've not been to The Sinclair, you should do yourself a favor treat yourself to one of the best places to dine in Fairfield! ******* I cannot help myself but frequent The Sinclair. Either brunch, which is a bottomless brunch - everyday, or simply dinner! No matter how busy they are the hostess who host with the mostest are always all smiles, and fashionable chic. So, as empty nesters, my husband and I try to visit new restaurants and while this one isn't new, it is one we haven't experienced before. As an overall rating, I think this place is great. Plenty of seating, great atmosphere, good menu, and we went early for discounted apps and during restaurant week. We had plenty of food and the service was REMARKABLE! So fast and courteous. So why not 5 stars? There is something about the food that tasted great, however, it gave me the impression that they bought some of the food pre-made in bulk. I am sure the meatballs and the breaded chicken filets are made there, and fresh, but there is a Costco-texture about them. Really tasty, but unusually evenly made. Excellent!!! I was at The Sinclair for dinner last night and we had such a wonderful meal! The food was delish! The service was quick and fabulous! The atmosphere loud and fun... it was crowed but in a good way. I loved the feeling of the decor it's a cool fun place to go. I had the shishito peppers for my appetizer and they were superb. I love shishito peppers in general... but these were just exceptionally done well! I also had the calamari salad which was just fantastic! Order this for sure! Our table also ordered 2 different muscle dishes which were served so beautifully in the kettles. I had the Malbec wine and a Boylan diet cola which I liked both. We rarely visit this 'hot spot' tucked into a section of the Brickwalk on the Post Road in Fairfield, but when we do, it's for their very tasty and very reasonably- priced mussels pot dinners, available in four (?) styles. We prefer mariniere- and ask for additional bread to soak up the delicious broth. That, a glass of rose or Prosecco, and maybe a "shareable" salad- and you will feel very satisfied. Two additional notes: the place -with ample seating inside or out- gets noisy as it fills, and it does, due to very casual crowds and louder than necessary 'background' music. Also, at 70 yrs old, I'm tired of servers greeting me and mine with 'hi, guys'. How about 'good evening' or 'welcome to...' or 'I'm (name) and I'll be helping to serve you today'.
