My husband ate here yesterday and insisted on me giving it a try. It, along with the service we received, was phenomenal. I got the cheesesteak with provolone and cheese wiz and added bell peppers/onions-you've gotta try it! The experience was so great I forgot to take pictures along the way! These cheesecake egg rolls were perfectly fried! We are only here for a week and may be eating it for a third time before we leave!

This place is super cool and definitely my husband and I's kind of place. The only thing I didn't care for was the "stuffed mushrooms" only cause it was more like a soup, but they still tasted yummy. Service was great and fast. The outside area is very cool! Their signature cocktail, sloop juice, was super yummy! Worth a checkout for sure!

Followed the Yelp to this spot on an evening when we just wanted an "easy" dinner. Small, unassuming spot with a laid back vibe, coastal decor and a chill atmosphere. The clientele was split between locals and vacationers, young and old. There was no live entertainment when we were there, but it seems like it would be a great spot for a casual hang out with drinks and music. Speaking of drinks - ours weren't anything exceptional, but they gave a good pour and basically anything is refreshing when the temps are outrageous!! I appreciated the generous serving of limes :) Our sandwiches were delicious! I had a Philly with chicken and it was solid with good flavor and great bread. The chips on the side were crisp and salty in the best way. Service was fast and friendly. We almost wish our food had taken longer because we were enjoying taking in our surroundings and watching the games on the TVs Definitely worth a stop if you are in town and looking for a great sandwich in a quaint location!

Local "dive bar" ambiance with great food. Came for some drinks and good food. Small parking lot, many clearly parked in the lot next door(despite signage indicating it was for the boat dockage across the street). Service was good. Cheesesteak was VERY good. Dessert - the Cheesecake eggroll... wow, absolutely delicious! Don't let the rough appearance fool you, the food is VERY good... as in the "hole in the wall" vibe.

Super nice staff. Mai Tai and Lemon Drop were excellent. The Sloop Dog is a must have.

I was craving a cheeseburger after 10:00 pm and wanted something local. I found the sloop and saw the reviews so I gave it a try. They only offer the double burger cooked to order and comes with the standard garden toppings. I added grilled mushrooms, onions and jalapeños smothered with provolone cheese. It was SO delicious and melted in your mouth. The bun was grilled and still soft and buttery. It came with house made chips and they were surprisingly good. Cut thin and not over cooked like others I'd had. Needless to say nothing in my basket had time to get cold. 5 outta 5. Will definitely be back!! BTW... they had live music out back if your looking to add some local entertainment to your evening. read more

Everything I've eaten at the Sloop was delicious, and they frequently have lunch specials that you just can't find anywhere. I love the mushroom appetizer, but their specialty is Cheesesteak! Best Cheesesteak anywhere near here. I honestly like them better at the Sloop than any I had in Philly! read more

We are big fans of The Sloop! We found this hidden gem back in February when we were driving from TX to FL and stayed the night in Gulf Shores. Our server was Juggernaut and he made the experience such a fun one! I think a large part of the charm is the personality Juggernaut brings to the environment. Separate from the service, the food is delicious! I love the Philly Cheesesteak (definitely get the hot cherry peppers) and my husband loves the Hotwing Hoagie with blue cheese. The chips that come with the sandwiches are great as well! We loved this spot so much that when we made the same road trip again earlier this month, we stopped in for dinner and again the food and service was top notch. The Sloop has a fun, local vibe and I highly recommend you stop by, even if you are just driving through the area. read more

i have never wrote a review about anything in my life but i had to do one of this place!! this was by far the best food i've ever had! i am also the most pickiest eater, and there's always something about my food at a restaurant that i don't like but not this place! We were staying in alabama for two nights and we had this both nights for dinner we had to go back again before we left! I got a burger, grilled cheese and a ceaser salad. the salad was tossed in one of the best ranch dressings i've ever had. the burger was cooked perfect and the grilled cheese was sooo cheesy. my mom had philly cheesesteak and sausage and peppers they were both amazing! the staff was so friendly especially the bar tender, we didn't catch his name but he was so funny and nice, made jokes with us all night and gave us some recommendations of breakfast places to eat before we left! overall great restaurant, i definitely recommend read more

For and service is great. The wings are the best in the area. Cooked and seasoned well. We also had the nachos that was huge and the beef is the cheese stake beef. They also know how to layer them. Hope the tourists don't hear about the sloop. read more

Wow! This place is a hidden treasure here! Such a cool spot. Everything we had was amazing. It's a small place, decorated with old sailing decor. Excellent customer service!! This is definitely a local spot you don't want to share with people but you do.. ya know what I mean?! Lol huge selection of alcohol and great food selection. Food was worth the wait! Only about 15 mins for lunch even with a house full. Don't miss this place. We will be back for sure! Thanks for a great experience! read more

Came here for lunch while on vacation. It's kind of tucked away under a bridge, like a hidden gem. Nice selection of food. Very delicious -- got a Philly cheesesteak, chicken wings, and chili cheese fries, all of which were great. Wings were a little small in size, but cooked perfectly. The chili on the fries was a little sweet, but not too sweet. You could see lots of locals came regularly and the workers knew them well, but they treated us like one of the regulars, too. Best kept secret. If you know -- you know. Rick is amazing and the kitchen staff and bartenders are incredible. A local fav (hidden gem) --- let me tell you this place is kick A**. Really liked it. It is fairly small & feels like a locals hangout. They offer table and bar seating. They have a full bar and meals. There are lots of TVs on the walls featuring assorted sporting events. We had nachos. They were tasty. The table near us was Super happy with their meals! It is across the street from a wee park with a boat ramp / launch and boat trailer parking. Win! Recommended. read more

As we were finishing up, they were getting ready to start karaoke, which looked like it would be a lot of fun and added to the lively beach-town vibe. Anyway, Honey got a Black and Blue. Both came out super quick and we were instantly refreshed. We chose to sit in the patio bc the weather was nice and not too hot or cold. It was just right. We started with the ColCannon Boxty Appetizer. It is small balls of shredded potatoes that are fried, and come with a delish aioli dipping sauce. We chose to split the Shepherds pie for our main course. The meat gave me meat loaf vibes but with a ground beef texture and a unique aftertaste.. It was good, just the texture is unique! It came with a small portion of the Brown Bread with Garlic butter. It was good! We asked for more Garlic butter. It was delicious! We would've ordered a Creme Brûlée but we were both stuffed. Coming for dinner on a Friday night, we were definitely concerned about getting a spot to eat. Parking is definitely limited, but we were pleased to find there was no way for a table outside. The weather was lovely and the music piped outside (often featuring Irish artists such as one of my favorites, Hozier!) made the whole atmosphere perfect. The inside is cute (albeit dim) and fulfills the pub fantasy. The ladies' restroom was clean. Our waitress was cheerful and fun. It took a little while for her to come get our drink order but after that she was johnny on the spot. The other waitstaff was friendly and professional too. My parents split the fish and chips, I got the chicken pot pie, and we split a side of colcannon. The sweet tea I had to drink was a little on the unsweet side for me, but I often find that's the case at restaurants on the gulf...further evidence that Florida/the gulf area is fundamentally different from the rest of the Deep South. Lol. My parents definitely enjoyed the fish and chips overall. I think my dad was hoping for a little more salt/seasoning in the fish breading but my mom was VERY pleased with hers. I'd never had colcannon before and thought what we got was just alright, figuring it wasn't really for me. My mom, who's tried it a few times different places, said she'd had a lot better. It had a pretty strong beer taste from the gravy on top. I'd be curious to try it again somewhere else and see how it compares. The shining star of the night was definitely my chicken pot pie. The crust was delightfully brown, the chicken was succulent and plentiful, and the sauce it swam in with the tender veggies was super flavorful and aromatic. It was perfect for a very slightly chilly evening. The brown bread served with it was absolutely delightful too, warm and rich and topped with delicious herb butter. I could easily eat a whole loaf. This was a great meal! Thanks for a unique and tasty dinner in Gulf Shores! I highly recommend the chicken pot pie to anyone considering it. :)

I ordered shrimp tacos that were filling and great. I had a couple jet ski killers that were so tasty. I do suggest you make a reservation, because depending on the time and day, it can get packed. Perch is upstairs with indoor and outdoor seating. It also has a bar inside with TVs. We actually sat outside, but I did notice they only had one bartender and while she was very busy, she worked her tail off to get those drinks out. For my appetizer, I ordered the lobster bisque. Although it was creamy and pretty good, it did not have enough lobster in it, especially based on the price. For dinner, I ordered the seared gulf fish, which came with corn and crab chowder and some potatoes. I also added a side of grilled shrimp. This dish was really good! It was served hot and the fish and shrimp were fresh and well seasoned. Unfortunately I can't remember our waiter, but he was super nice and patient and gave us some great suggestions. I would definitely come back and visit Perch again.
