    Chicken was on point

Most definitely making another trip. Favorites include Pecan pie, Mac n cheese and sweet tea!

My wife and I were heading back from a weekend vacation and really wanted BBQ. Of course we prefer to give our money to a mom and pop shop or a franchise not available near us, but in this case, it left us a bit disappointed. I ordered the brisket and sausage plate.. The brisket we mostly fat and once trimmed that of, was like 4 bites and I really wasn't a fan of the flavor of the sausage. The okra wasn't bad (hard to screw up fried okra unless it's in the fryer too long) and def liked the cream corn. That corn had a very good flavor and was pretty tasty I also tried the peach cobbler and it was def a miss (1) it tasted like was fresh out of the refrigerator so very cold when I was hoping for warm or room temp and 2) it was nearly all breading and not much peach, and the breading was flavorless as well). Overall being a BBQ lover born and raised in the South, I might be a bit too picky, but this didn't hit the spot at all, so next time in this part of the state, I'll look elsewhere if wanting BBQ

We passed this smokehouse and came back to try it as it was happy hour. We got the turkey legs and Ribs Okra and green beans, the turkey legs were so good and very big and tender. The green beans was not what I was expecting they tasted like can beans with good flavor broth. The Okra was hot and very good. The worst were the ribs they were hard and some areas were very tender but mostly tough. I was really hope that they were a wow but maybe next time or not. The lady at the register was so sweet and so was the other lady. The restroom was clean, but no running warm water. The restaurant was really busy so maybe we just got a very bad batch of Ribs. Well till next time hopefully

I USED TO love this place. I would only place to go orders and the food WAS amazing. I just ordered through a delivery app and will probably never order again. I paid almost 30 bucks for one plate and an extra side. The brisket was super dry, they only gave 1 rib and it was super thin, the sausage was mushy on the inside, the rice has zero flavor, the potato salad tasted like HEB potato salad and the green beans had a funky taste.

My husband and I got variety plates of sausage, brisket, and chicken (with different sides). Everything was so so good but I think the brisket was my favorite!

Wow! We were in town visiting our son at Lackland & The Smokehouse was down the street. OMG, their food was fabulous. Their service was friendly, very efficient and polite. Talk about southern hospitality! I don't know where the 2 bad reviews came from, but the food here was very good. Their smoked brisket was smooth with good flavor. If you want lean meat, you probably should have a steak at a foofy place. My wife said the Mac n Cheese was the best she's ever had. It was under $40 to feed 4 people with the large portions given. I guess I'm use to California prices. Lamb plate: tender, fall off the bone tasty Pork Rib plate: great fall off the bone ribs Brisket & Sausage "Manwich": the meats were so tender & tasty I wish we has this restaurant in Ca?

Brisket,5. Brisket and Pork Rib Plate

Food was good as always highly recommend the potato salad and creamed corn, left completely full

I ordered the Manwich today and it was not good. Dry chicken and dry sausage. Then about 20 minutes after eating I got sick. Awful.

We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and got in queue which was out the door and wrapping around the front porch. Their host/doorman was kind, he offered the line water on many occasions and made pleasantries with almost all guests as the line moved. It was a hot day so those waters were clutch. By the time we made it to the front of order line maybe 40 minutes had passed. But ladies and gents the wait is worth it. When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between laid-back Texas charm and a lively River Walk experience. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. I ordered the three-meat plate with the sausage, second-cut brisket, and smoked turkey, and every bite was outstanding. The brisket was tender and packed with smoky flavor, the sausage had the perfect snap and seasoning, and the smoked turkey was surprisingly juicy and flavorful. The baked beans and mac & cheese were fantastic sides that complemented the barbecue perfectly. To top it all off, I had one of the best mango margaritas I've ever tasted--refreshing, smooth, and the perfect pairing for the meal. And don't even think about skipping the complimentary bread with honey butter. It's warm, fresh, and absolutely to die for. Between the incredible food, excellent service, and unbeatable River Walk atmosphere, The County Line was one of the highlights of our trip to San Antonio. For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. The restaurant was busy, which was understandable given the River Walk location and the time of evening. It did take a little while initially for our server to come over and for things to get moving, and after being out celebrating all day, we were definitely getting a little anxious. But once John took care of us, he absolutely turned the experience around. John was phenomenal. He was gracious, polite, personable, and attentive without being overbearing. He acknowledged our niece's graduation and made the dinner feel like part of the celebration. One of the sweetest moments was when our nephew mentioned wanting fruit after seeing the berries with our champagne. John overheard him and brought him a small container of fruit. It was such a thoughtful gesture and completely unexpected. Now, the Texas cornbread.....CHEF'S KISS. It came in a Texas-shaped cast-iron skillet and had a light jalapeño flavor that wasn't overpowering at all. Even my husband, who isn't big on jalapeño, enjoyed it. The honey served alongside it, complete with the little honey sticks, was another nice touch. My niece had the Caesar salad with steak, and listen.....they were not playing with the Parmesan . It was generous, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My husband had the burger, which also came out really nicely. I liked that the lettuce, tomato, and onion were served separately so he could build it the way he wanted instead of everything being piled together. Even the small Heinz ketchup bottle was a cute detail. Overall, the food was good, the presentation was thoughtful, and John's service really made the evening memorable. The slow start was the only drawback, but he more than made up for it. Definitely a solid experience, especially if you're looking for a nice meal along the River Walk.
