Finally made it here to try their Sicilian pizza. It was good, but can't say I loved it as much as I wanted to, I think it was the cheese that I didn't love, because the dough and sauce were both quite good and they did a good job cooking it. Their regular Sicilian doesn't have mozzarella so make sure you order the cheese Sicilian if you want it. The bread (dough) and sauce were decent, they use dough from some bread bakery. The full Sicilian is massive, some of the largest slices you will ever find. There is also some type of technology fee added to orders, I think it is for cc only, but I didn't see a note of it anywhere until it got added to my order. My first impression was that it was Very a clean interior with an accommodating friendly employees. It was recommend to try the St8 up italian Sub,, loaded and toasted, Oh my so yummy. Fresh sicilian meats and the fresh bread with a killer Vinaigrette infused oil, was to die for! Miss Maria, rolled up on my table and introduced me to herself, as well as her son who is the owner, and we had a lively conversation about her life and family as well as the role she plays in SOS! She is a complete rock star! The real show stopper was when Maria rolled out with a pot full of amazing Pasta and Meatballs... Just melt in your mouth is all I can say. Located on the Cliftondale Square roundabout, Sons of Sicily Eatery (formerly Saugus Deli & Pizzeria) is a family owned & operated Italian pizzeria and deli serving up SIcilian pizza (by the square slice or full tray), calzone pizza, hot & cold subs/wraps, salads, rice bowls and pasta dinners (after 4pm). Pepsi products in the cooler. The prices here are a bit high. The place is order at the counter and there are tables for eating in. I stopped in here for lunch takeout. I picked out a Sicilian Slice ($4.80 plus tax) with the melted browned cheese on top and a Italian Ham & Cheese Calzone Slice ($6.95 plus tax), which were heated up in the oven and packed to go. The Sicilian Slice had a thick soft and chewy crust topped with minimal tomato sauce and covered in a browned melted cheese. The Calzone Slice had plenty of Italian ham and melted cheese rolled in a fresh baked dough, sort of like garbage bread. Both items were pretty good. I would definitely suggest offering or including marinara sauce for dipping the Calzone Slice or even with the Sicilian pizza too. read more

I don't do this but of the late. I'm sick of everyone with their great reviews of everywhere I go and they're awful. This has to be one of the worst places I've eaten. Idk what all you people are raving about but the sub roll was hard. Their meatballs everyone said were to die for were absolutely awful no flavor. This place is a hidden gem, the quality of the food is here top notch. Got a fresh chicken cutlet sub w/provolone, lettuce, tomato & mayo and all I can say is wow! Fresh, thin pounded, well seasoned chicken cutlets, so very good! Their pizza is also very very good, we actually tried a few slices that just had sauce and sprinkled Parmesan cheese, and I couldn't get over how good something this simple was. Delicious! I don't normally work in Saugus but was filling in today and didn't want the lunch I brought. I got a caprese sub with chicken and prosciutto and I devoured it! Food is very good. The menu items are a little pricey but the portions are very big. I can usually order one thing and make two meals out of it. The rice bowl was surprisingly good, but one day they gave me basil pesto sauce, another day it was some other sauce so I'm not sure what the Sons sauce actually is? The steak that came with my salad was a really small portion for $8+ surcharge. (The menu pricing is a little inconsistent.) I understand it is a new, small, family-run business. Trying to be patient and support them. Otherwise all we will have in Saugus are fast food franchises. read more

I ordered an Italian Sub with a bags of chips to be delivered to work. It cost $23.50 because of the $5.18 DELIVERY FEE. So, total cost was $27.00 the tip for the driver isn't in the delivery fee. It took them over an hour to deliver my lunch which was 2 miles away. They forgot my chips so I called because the driver left already. I have wanted to stop by and try this new place and finally got around to it yesterday. I got stuffed peppers, which were made fresh from the owner's mom, and a Sicilian sub. They were both delicious! The sandwich had such good Italian meats, cubes of cheese and hot peppers...SO GOOD! The peppers were made with a meat stuffing topped with red sauce. As an Italian, we judge by the sauce (gravy). It was wonderful! I decided to go back to get dinner and lunch for tomorrow. I had the chicken marsala which was made with tender pieces of freshly breaded cutlets and ham. Personally, I would have liked a bit more marsala, but that's just me. I asked how business was and we chatted. He told me about how they cook their own turkey and ham. Turkey had just come out of the oven and he sliced some for me to try. It was delish. He also mentioned that he makes his own gravy most days for red sauce dishes. His mother makes the eggplant and arancini. He gave me a taste with some eggplant. I really liked it. So, let's get real here. SOS is good. I mean really good. Sauce (Not gravy for you wanna-be Italians) is very,very good. Not as good as my mothers, god rest her soul. Staff was friendly and the menu was a twist of a typical Italian take out. But it's Sicilian, so you know it's better. Faghetaboutit. Online menu doesn't exactly match the on-site menu. Asked about a side of Chicken cutlets. The girl taking my order told me they didn't have that. Figured they just haven't updated the menu or made a change. Meatballs are not the typical sub shop frozen bag of balls. These are the real deal. Now let's talk about the pizza. Having spend most of the summers of my life in Sicily, on every coast. This is the closest to 'Sicilian Style Pizza' I have come across in the US. Just wished they asked me if I wanted it heated when taking it out. Would have saved time at home. Missed opportunity for them to suggest other items at the time of ordering. Only reasons for the 4 stars was for the menu mixup, and the cold pizza. i live in middleton which is about 30 minutes with the traffic on shitty rt 1 with the 2 lanes at 5pm but i still go there and only there. the owner rob b is so great and friendly to everyone, and if you happen to get an eror- he doesnt berate his staff but he will fix it himself. i work in saugus 3 days a week and i make it a point to go get "mama bulla's specials! his mother is right off the boat & i say that with alot of love and respect-she is a breath of fresh air. all the food is cooked fresh, no frozed chicken parm paties sitting in a freezer.the kid cam is always nice and i was in there 1 day and the owners accountant/book keeper was in there and a female worker called in with covid- the gentlemen was in a dress shirt loading up the beverages, so i curiously asked him why he wore such nice attire for that kind of job-he said rob was the only client he had that he would spend hours helping out, he even called his next appointment to cancel with them, i was floored, his name was michael- he grew up in peabody he told me. anyway i never take time like this t post and rave- and i never ever type a review to talk shit. i think its hard to please most miserable people & i choose not to add on to the negativity, i hope you go try sons of sicily- they just openend in late may so i was surpised they werent working out major kinks still! thats why i decided to type this novel lol. read more
