He called me back later in the day but I Wasn't able to pick it up so he allowed me to keep the car there overnight. He did indeed diagnose the problem and didn't charge me anything! Unfortunately this place doesn't work on hybrids so I had to take it elsewhere. In general auto mechanics make me nervous but I felt nothing but good vibes here. The situation escalated to the point where we had to call the police so we could safely leave with our vehicle. The full story: We live in the neighborhood and have been paying customers of this shop for 3-4 years. Most recently, we brought our car in to replace a side mirror that had been chipped overnight. We spoke directly with the lead mechanic, who explained that the replacement mirror might not be an exact color match but guaranteed--both verbally and on the written quote--that it would be a similar shade. He also said that if the part arrived in a completely different color, it would be sent back. We agreed on a set price. A few days later, he called to say the mirror arrived and that it was dark silver (our car is white), but told us he would cover the cost of painting it so it would match. We asked multiple times on that call to confirm there would be no additional charge, and he confirmed there would not be. When we arrived to pick up the car, the shop demanded $250 more than the agreed quote, stating that we either had to pay the higher amount or they would remove the mirror and return the car in its original damaged condition. We explained that we had been long-time customers, lived in the neighborhood, and had clear proof of what was agreed to. None of that mattered. The lead mechanic refused to involve the owner or management, even though we had a recording of the call confirming the price. He stated that he "couldn't make $10 on this job" and tried to undo the work instead of honoring the agreement. The situation became so hostile that we had to call the police to supervise the interaction. The mechanic showed up outside of his shift, became aggressive and loud, and had to be calmed down by the police while they waited for us to safely leave the lot. This experience showed a complete lack of honesty, accountability, and leadership. There is no clear management presence, no concern for customer service, and no willingness to stand by written or verbal agreements. I then took it to another shop, and they told me they also couldn't fix it, and directed me to Reliable Auto Repair Center. I was impressed when I called Reliable and the man I spoke with was confident he could fix it. The first time I brought my car in I had to leave immediately and bring it back the following day, because I was told they wouldn't be able to look at it until then (there were a ton of cars outside and they don't take appointments: first come, first served). I dropped it off the next morning and by early afternoon I had a diagnostic report and estimate. They also found a few other issues with the car and fixed everything for me by the next day. Communication was great, every person I interacted with was professional and kind, the cost was reasonable, and best of all my car finally works properly again. I will definitely be bringing my car to Reliable for all service and repair moving forward.

I noticed Belmont Auto Clinic had great reviews, so decided to take it here, and I'm so glad I did! Tony and his crew member took a look at it right away, found the culprit (a pesky giant nail), and patched it up. They also did it free of charge which was so incredibly kind!! They charged me $79.99. Then they charged me for a 1 year alignment plan I didn't ask for. They invented my address. They told me it would be done in 2 hours. It was 4 hours later with no update. Told me I declined a number of services that I was never told about. They even told me I declined a tire rotation which I specifically asked for. According to their records, I last changed my cabin air filter in 2020. Well that's not true because they changed it the last year. On top of all that, they then charged me a 3% fee for using a credit card. Oh, and I called literally 20 times in a row. No one answered the phone.

The car continued throwing emissions and catalyst codes almost immediately afterward. I eventually took the vehicle to two independent Audi specialists. Both told me they were shocked by how much I had been charged for the converter Meineke installed. Both also told me they did not believe that converter was ever going to reliably pass emissions testing on my vehicle because it was such a low-quality part. Despite that, both specialists encouraged me to give Meineke the opportunity to make it right before having any additional work done elsewhere. I tried. Over the following months, I returned multiple times looking for a solution. Instead, I kept being presented with additional repairs. At one point I was told I needed brakes and an alternator. When I reminded them that Meineke had installed the brakes less than a year earlier, suddenly I didn't need brakes anymore. Later, I learned the alternator replacement was unnecessary as well. The final straw was Meineke's proposed solution. After all of this, their answer was to replace the failed converter with the same type of converter that had already failed. After being told by two Audi specialists that this was the wrong part for the vehicle, I had no confidence that putting the same part back in was going to solve anything. I was initially told that if there was a problem with the repair, I could take the vehicle to any Meineke location. When the repair failed, I learned that was not actually how the process worked. I ultimately dealt with multiple Meineke locations, their warranty process, and Meineke corporate over many months. After months of trying to resolve the issue through the shops and through Meineke corporate, I had to take the vehicle elsewhere in order to pass emissions and keep it on the road. During this process, management at the original location changed. My issue is not with the employees currently working there. My issue is with the way this repair was handled, the repeated attempts to sell me additional repairs while the original problem remained unresolved, and the complete lack of accountability from Meineke afterward. I also filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. The BBB ultimately closed the complaint after Meineke failed to respond. Based on my experience with multiple Meineke locations, their warranty process, and Meineke corporate customer service, I have lost confidence in the company as a whole. I would not trust Meineke with a major repair and will not use the company again.

This last experience has been horrific - please find somewhere else to go. We don't drive much and had a car worth only $5-6k. They destroyed the engine, then charged us 4k for a new one, and then the new one seized within 100 miles of driving. They then promised to "make it right" while our car sat there for months. They never did. They still owe us at least $609 (while we should have sued them for $6-8k, and still might, we got all of $700 for scrap metal for that car) and they've ignored numerous requests for payment that they'd promised me many months ago. This place is a nightmare, seriously find somewhere, anywhere, else to go.
