On the second floor, across from a small grocery store with plenty of parking. A hugely popular lunch spot, so it might be wise to come early or late if you don't want to wait. Most tables are outside, for 2-3 people. The staff were very accommodating, putting tables together for a family of 8 ahead of us, and seating us not long after (some of the chaos of our arrival was due to people leaving as others poured in). Lots of Açaí bowls, juices, and smoothies on the menu, but we didn't try th today. We ordered 3 panini sandwiches, the Ferrari (roast chicken and pesto, the French onion (trip tip with garlic aioli) and the Cambria (vegetarian with hummus, avocado, artichoke hearts). You can have a Caesar kale salad or roast potatoes on the side. The Ferrari was the most flavorful of the 3 sandwiches and both sides were tasty. read more

The Spot is fantastic. We were looking for a place to try after our hike and found The Spot. It's just a bit hard to find but it's worth it! We had the Cuban sandwich with the house made carrot soup and the spinach and strawberry salad. The sandwich was over an inch and a half thick. Piled high with roast pork, ham, cheese and pickles. A great Cuban. The soup was hot, thick, creamy and delicious. The salad contained all very fresh ingredients. The service is quick and efficient. Sometimes you need to look past the obvious to get the best. The Spot isn't on the main drag through Cambria. In fact, you'll drive past a handful of breakfast and lunch places on your way. The Spot is found up Tamson Drive the second driveway on the left, drive to the middle of the parking lot and you found The Spot. We sat outside on the balcony with a view of pine trees. I had the cubano sandwich which with the first bite I was audible expressing, "Whoa, this is REALLY good!" My wife had an omelette, and my son had eggs, potatoes, and lox (not exactly on the menu, but substituted lox for bacon for a small up-charge). Each of us left satisfied--it hit the spot! It is within a few minutes' drive to Hearst Castle, and parking is readily available out front. This is a family owned restaurant that carries an extensive menu of healthy and delicious breakfast and lunch options. I love the wide selection of sweet/savory crepes, breakfast plates, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, smoothies, and juices. I ordered the mushroom crepe, and it came with a generous portion of mushroom and spinach. All our orders arrived within 5-10 minutes, and the portion was just right for a good lunch. As for the service, we were sitted right away, and the kitchen was very flexible in making minor changes in the menu to accommodate us. We were originally headed to the Hidden Kitchen. But my wife learned that it was an organic, free range, gluten free, non blah-blah-blah ......and she got spooked. We've both been to those kinds of places and had meals that seemed heavy on the moral high ground but light on flavor or satisfaction. So even though we'd been encouraged by a friend, and even though blue corn waffles sound amazing .....we went to the Spot. I'd had my heart set on those crazy waffles so I was a little irked to not go. When we walked into the Spot I was thinking "This place better be good". Well, B&G's it did not disappoint. I honestly didn't even remember what I got. I had to look at the photos. The thing I do remember was that we got to enjoy the view from a beautiful, shady balcony, that the service was kind and genuine and that all of the irritation and anger I'd walked in with disappeared once I'd had a couple bites of lunch. I thought, "Wow, mine's really good", then tried a bite of my wife's and a morsel from each of my kid's plates and after each one I said the same thing. "Wow, that's really good too." In the middle of the meal my daughter declared "This was plated happiness", and I have to agree. We all walked out satisfied and full and I, far, far happier than when I walked in. As I told Jesus, your restaurant is the best on the central coast. And, there's tons of competition on the central coast, and so, I don't write that lightly. Their crepes are magical: perfectly cooked veggies, with mozarella, topped with pesto. And then the strawberry/banana/nutella crepe which you'll eat the whole thing even though you're full. The Albondigas meatball soup is savory and delectable. Love the food, love the people, love the service, and I am happy to share about this secret local favorite. read more

I'd heard about the cucumber chia drink and wanted to try it. It did not disappoint- absolutely yummy. And I don't really lean towards vegetable juice, but this was refreshing like a healthy boba drink. We ordered avocado toast, strawberry toast and a savory crepe. Not a thing left on the plates and the end of the meal- the food was fresh, tasty- well presented and the service was awesome. We got there early before they were open, they actually opened a few minutes early to seat us and bring coffee while they were still opening- never had an empty coffee cup the entire time- and they checked on the food and if we needed anything throughout the meal. The place was up a little hill that overlooked the street but it was quiet, you could sit outside or in- it was clean, the tables were spacious and the noise level low even with other tables nearby. This is quite literally the best restaurant I've even been to. The food is impeccable and there is something for everyone no matter what you enjoy. My go-to's are the fresh Lox and Bagel and the Zoe Crepe with lemon curd and blueberries. Fresh squeezed juice is always on hand and their smoothies are as refreshing as the the view of the Cambria Pines from the balcony. The best part is the owner Jesus. His attitude and demeanor is so welcoming and he truly appreciates every single customer that comes into his Spot. He himself will take orders and wouldn't ask an employee to do anything he wouldn't do as well. Okay, before you say why 2 stars for this great restaurant?? You're being picky! Well, let me be clear the food was 5 stars all the way. We both had never been here before and we loved the quick and friendly service, the delicious breakfast and obvious returning, local customers who were chatty with the staff. I got the Ferrari it was great!!! Here's why the 2 stars. As we were leaving I had to use the restroom. I waited for the guest before me to exit. When they left I saw that it was a worker, probably a cook or kitchen staff because I didn't see him serving. What bothered me soooo much is he did not wash his hands. Hello NOROVIRUS!! I'm sure they clean their bathrooms regularly but I knew he did not wash his hands because the sink was pretty waterless and no suds were left behind. After I washed my hands with soap there was soapy suds left in the sink that didn't wash down the drain. Big clue he didn't wash his hands. I'm sorry this is very bad for a wonderful little restaurant. Sure, maybe he washed his hands in the kitchen but perception is everything!!!!! I saw him nonchalantly walk out and with a lazily, slouchy posture walk back into the kitchen. Ewww!!! But now that I know dirty hands are working in the kitchen it makes my stomach turn. Terrific crepes. ...and the Chia Seed Pudding is the perfect light and tasty dessert. On Fridays they serve an Albondigas (meatballs) soup that is terrific. I really wanted to love this spot, especially since it's a family-owned local favorite, but our experience was frustrating from start to finish. We ordered two breakfast paninis and a large orange juice to go. The total came to $62, which felt steep, but we figured the food would be worth it based on the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The order took over 30 minutes, even though we were told it would be ready in 15. When we got back to the car, one sandwich was missing the sausage, the other only had a single strip of bacon, and the orange juice was missing entirely. I went back inside to ask for what we paid for. The young guy at the front register didn't seem to be paying attention and didn't seem to care. He handed me a bag without saying anything, and once again, the sausage was missing. The food itself didn't deliver. The bread wasn't pressed or crisped, the cheese was cold and unmelted, and the potatoes were bland and needed seasoning. The sauce inside the sandwich was the one highlight. No apology, no accountability, and for $62, it felt careless. They seem like good people and I truly hope they succeed, but the 4.9-star rating feels more like hometown loyalty than honest feedback. Absolutely amazing! We were looking for a place to have brunch in Cambria and saw this place with 4.9 stars so we decided to try it out. The have both indoor and outdoor seating with a nice view from the back seating area. Everything we tried was delicious including the butternut squash soup, banana Nutella crepes, cubano sandwich, and the chicken coop savory crepe. The service was excellent and we had a chance to talk to the owner and learned it was owned by a local family. Will definitely be back here again! read more
