Server was really nice, no idea why our entrees took forever to come out. Told us our dinners were being plated but they didn't show for another 10 minutes. Stopped here on a snowy Tuesday night on a last minute idea. The bar was full, restaurant side empty when we arrived but packed when we left. Apparently it was wing night so we ordered 2 different types of wings, honey habanero and sweet thai chili. Both were meaty and tasty, the blue cheese dip was really thick and good. Had a burger that was cooked as ordered and blackened chicken salad with a jalapeño ranch dressing, also great. Service was attentive and very friendly. Great beer choices and they have a really good organic red wine I've never had before but loved it. Everyone seemed to be ordering the sushi which looked great, the sushi maker was working non stop the entire time we were there. I simply keep trying this place and if they're not messing up my meal, what I do get lacks flavor. The "sushi" is imitation, so anyone with dietary restrictions can't eat it... what's the point of a sushi restaurant if its not real sushi. The staff could be friendlier (except Jay and James they're always smiling and helpful). I believe everything is overpriced. If they had any competition it would be closed by now. We've been to The Spot on three different occasions for an early dinners for our 2.5yo son and have ordered take out on a couple of occassions. We had great service, great food and my husband appreciates the beer selection. It's actually one of our favorites since moving to the North Shore. I'd agree with previous reviews that sometimes the wait can be a bit long for food, but they bring my son's meal our straight away and gives us a chance to chat like adults longer - which is a treasured experience with a toddler. read more

Went with my boyfriend on opening weekend. I live within walking distance and was über excited to have a restaurant so close. I understand it takes time for a restaurant to ind it's groove, but that shouldn't mean the stag can't be friendly and attentive. We sat at the bar. I got a margarita which was served in a pint glass which was fine. My boyfriend ordered a captain and coke which was served in a very small glass ($8!!!). We ordered nachos with chicken ($15!!). The cheese was piled on the top layer of chips only and the chicken, what there was of it, was obviously burnt. Why they served us burnt chicken I still don't know. The pico de gallo was excellent though. Loved the hint of lime. But that was the only good thing. I finished my drink and sat with an empty glass for a good 10 minutes while all three bartenders kept walking by and ignoring me. I put the drink to the edge of the bar and was finally asked if I wanted another. Four drinks and nachos and $60 later we left and went to the pub for reasonably priced drinks and dinner. I frequent the Spot on Sundays with my husband and a friend of ours and it is always a highlight of my week. The food, drinks and service are impeccable. The last time we went I got the Peach Fuss drink (Peach whiskey and fresh tea?? YES PLEASE!) and the burger on special which had goat cheese, candied bacon and blueberry BBQ on it. Everything I had, this time and the several other times I have come, was amazing. I highly recommend the Spot for any food occasion! read more

The quality of the food was fine; however, it wasn't hot enough. We sat at the bar and the barmaid was pleasant but extremely pregnant, which caused her to move slowly and not check the kitchen often enough. Also, despite having an impressive display of Grateful Dead posters on the walls, the music screeching from the speakers was annoyingly loud Motown. My wife and I ate at The Spot on Tuesday Trivia Night. We had a very pleasant waitress who was friendly and attentive. We ordered the $.50 wings which were meaty and tasty. It's a little hokey the wings are served al a carte requiring you to pay $.75 each for carrots & celery and blue cheese dressing. From there we ordered 3 different sushi rolls which were also quite good. The trivia was good but not great. The host had very little enthusiasm and the questions were mostly boring and dated. I'd like to see a host with some more personality and ask more relevant questions. Overall, we had a good experience. I would definitely return. read more

We were given two gift cards to two separate restaurants and used them back to back nights. The first restaurant had low reviews and we found it pretty great. On the other hand, The Spot had good reviews and we found it disappointing. Sat at the bar and were in general direction of the entrance door, very cold. Ordered a Turkey club and the Turkey was as dry and tough as shoe leather. Luckily there was not much Turkey so the garnishes were the majority of the sandwich. Service was great. Can I add super expensive for what you get. Too expensive, poor quality, can not recomend. read more

My husband and I are in town visiting his Dad and stepmom whom live literally 2 minutes away. We ordered Turkey club wrap and fries and it was amazing. The fries were so crisp and usually I don't like hand cut fries because they tend to get soggy but these didn't. We shared an order and still didn't eat them all. We decided to give this "spot" a try. First they forgot to seat us. Our supposed 5 minute wait was very long. Our server took forever to return to take our order and never checked on us once after we received our meals. The potatoes leek soup was bland and overpriced. My portobello sandwich was way overpriced for what I got. My friend's sushi was awful he said. To top it off, our check amount was tripled as our waiter combined our bill with another table. Love The Spot... Another favorite of ours. Best local Sushi in the area, and love their tuna tartare and seaweed salad... the rest of the menu is equally great too! But I always get the sushi. Try the Paloma margarita for something refreshing; hubby loves the dirty martini. We visited The Spot a couple of weeks ago with some friends who had a Groupon. None of us had ever eaten there. What a treat. All 4 of us loved our meals. The wait staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. Without asking, the hostess seated us away from the bar area as it was Trivia night and she knew (we're a little older) that it would be less noisy. Stumbled upon this place by chance on a late Saturday. Menu is really diverse. From chicken and waffles to sushi. Everyone in our party was really happy with the food which consisted of meatloaf, haddock, burger and the bbq platter. Great beer and drink menu. Only downside was just a bit pricy. Went here last Sunday for a patriots game. wasn't overly busy. great spot to watch the games. we had mussels wings and a chicken sandwich. everything was good. my favorite was definitely the wings. the lighting was oddly very bright, a bit unwelcoming. drinks and food are definitely over priced. I had 2 drinks and my bf had 2 beers. we shared an app and got a sandwich and wings. spent over $125 and the wings were discounted! but the patriots did win so wooo hooo! read more

We moved to Georgetown about 3yrs ago and this is the only restaurant here I was so happy the first time we went and everything was delicious. We finally found a restaurant close and that we all liked. It had something for everyone, We would go here all the time and loved everything. My wife and I live a few miles away in Rowley and go here quite often. We always eat at the bar, so that is what I'll focus on. The drinks are always well made and the beer selection is fantastic. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but we go there to relax so it has never bothered us. The bartenders are always very friendly. Some other reviewers gripe about the menu and the fact that they have sushi. If you only eat pub food, there are a ton of other places to get that in the area, but there are almost 0 places to get sushi. Moreover, it is nice to eat sushi while enjoying a bar atmosphere, rather than at a cliche Asian joint. The quality of the sushi is consistent and good. WARNING: the french fries are great and very addictive! The other gripe seems to be about the prices. While The Spot isn't dining on the cheap, it is fair for the quality/atmosphere. If you are the type that likes a pile of food for as little money as possible, then this place isn't for you. Spud's is a few miles down the street. If you are looking for a good meal with a relaxed atmosphere, then check out the spot. It is usually full of good music and friendly locals. read more

First time in Georgetown, bought a living social deal. Sat in the lounge and ordered The Spot BBQ Platter. Each item was really good. All the food that went by looked exceptional; visually appealing and made with care. The server was super nice and the dessert I ordered, choc. pecan pie with van. ice cream was so delicious.
