I was the first to try the broccoli cheddar soup. Holy cow is this a game changer. I love soup again. It's like orgasmically good. This is so fire that they should be worried about setting the city ablaze. The grilled cheese was pretty good 2. Nothing better than grilled cheese and soup. This place was bought in July from Smee but hasn't changed that much. They'll want to change their printed sign out front (doesn't make it look like a permanent downtown establishment). The inside looks the same. They kept the same chef as what Smee had but changed the fish batter recipe. I had the beef bulgogi sandwich and it was beyond disappointing. Though the happy hour quesadillas were chocked full of meat and cheese so that was good. read more

Came here on Father's Day. I expected restaurants to be busy but I also expected to have decent service. We had multiple different waiters and noticed the same thing at other tables. With that anytime we asked for something we didn't get it until it wasn't needed anymore. Even something as simple as our drink order which we didn't get until our food came out. The shrimp tacos were good but the other people at my table didn't have the same experience. The salmon was undercooked and salad came with no dressing. And when we asked for dressing it came out about the same time as the check. If you want to come sit and and enjoy the river maybe try one of the other restaurants unless you want to leave mad and still hungry read more

I should've trusted my gut and walked out. If you're considering eating at The Spot, let me save you some time: keep walking. This place is where good service goes to die... and where bad cocktails are born. We were seated and then promptly forgotten. Water finally arrived... with gnats swimming in the glass. We flagged someone down just to place our order like we were asking for a favor, not paying customers. The cocktails took 20+ minutes to arrive and woefully underperformed. I know this was not only our experience as I saw other customers whose faces looked like they were drinking acetone. As for the burger? Completely flavorless. I've had more excitement from a plain rice cake. No one checked on us--no "How's everything?" or even a glance in our direction. We had to walk inside and ask for a check since we hadn't seen staff on the patio look our way. There was absolutely no urgency. No sense of service. The waitress we had seemed dazed and annoyed to be there. We wasted two full hours here. I wish we had trusted our instincts and left while we were still just mildly annoyed. Who would think that this spot would have awesome food! We had a private party with over 40 people. We ordered all the appetizers and they were amazing! Then we ordered dinner and someone ordered the steak! It was amazing she let us all try it. The dish and chips looked so good. Many orders the salads and they were beautiful. The only reason it's getting 2 stars was food was decent and being on the river. The individual bussing tables was the only one who seemed attentive to customers, and the only one that seemed to not be under the influence of something. Once we picked a table to sit at, it took over 20 minutes to even get service, and that was because we asked for it. Food got delivered, and drinks about 30 minutes after we ordered and were never checked on again. And it was hard to even get someone's attention to ask for another drink, refill, etc. We then had to track someone down for our check. Was super hopeful for a new river go to spot, but won't be returning. I'm hoping it was just a bad day for the business based on the other good reviews but won't be returning. read more

Well, if I could give out a 0 stars, this would be it. While on the river walk, this place looked like it was a good place to eat. We waited for someone to offer us a table and when they did, it was obvious they didn't want our services, all they gave us was attitude, so bad that we ended up just walking away. We had a group of 10 and some of us work in the Industry. Their service is definitely not up to the standards in the industry. Sat at the bar and did not have food this time. Our first time in and the bartender service was great. I asked for a negroni and the bartender gave me some options and suggestions. I tried the special negroni which was quite good, if not the taste I was looking for (my wife loved it and she hates negronis). Happy hour and football menu looks good. Need to go back to try the food in general, but I always love to see a place that rocks great customer service (especially as it seems harder and harder to come by). read more

This is the best spot in reno. The owner Casey is so cool and friendly. The calamari is the best in town and im a calamari snob. Please scream from the roof tops if you have enjoyed this place. Let all hype them up!!!! Im going back later today to eat more of their deliciousness. Let's keep them around. Honestly a 5-star spot! Been here a few times now and the service, drinks, and food are all on point. The place itself is very open with lots TVs, tables and bar seating. The stools themselves are also very comfortable. They have the best Happy Hour in town right now in my opinion, with two different times to enjoy it. Stopped in for a birthday dinner and was sat immediately on the patio. Hostess brought us water and less menus than people we had. Didn't acknowledge us or say anything. Our server finally came over to take our drink order. He couldn't name the beers and didn't explain what the mocktails had in them(just stated a name like I was supposed to know what ingredients they use). Drinks and apps came in a timely manner and the apps were great! We placed our food order and went about our business. An hour passed by and we still hadn't received our food and our server hadn't been by to check on us. He finally came over to ask about another round of drinks and when we asked where our food was he said "I just put in the food and grab it when it's ready" and then said "have fun". The hostess finally brought out half the food and the server followed. We asked for more water and silverware. Silverware got brought with an attitude and no water. Food was SO salty it wasn't even edible. And burgers were all undercooked. Zero communication skills until I got up and approached the manager. The manager and server did apologize and comped our meals which was great but overall a very disappointing experience. Manager also gave us a $50 gift card but I just don't know if we will be back! read more

After having lunch there , we thought the food was great but the service sucked. One of the servers ( we had 4 different ones) walked right by are food under the heat lamp , looked at us and went to the cash register ( where he seemed to spend most of his time) . We finally asked another server to please get our food. I could go on and on but seriously, if you scroll through yelp reviews, bad service comes up a lot ! I think whoever is the GM is needs to have a meeting and really give some lessons to the staff on customer service and how much it influences the overall experience and weather people will come back read more

No doubt the worst dining experience I've ever had. We came to celebrate my husband's birthday. We got seated but no one took our order. 15 min and nothing: ordered fish and chips and after another 30 min the food came out. Fish was raw! Not another 10 min for new fish. I don't write reviews often. It takes a LOT to irritate me actually. Today we thought we'd try out this "hot and new" restaurant that Yelp recommended. I checked out photos and was kind of stoked to find a river front restaurant with gaming and we wanted burgers, so downtown we went. When we got there we realized the games were all shut off, which was kind of a bummer but no big deal. The restaurant was almost empty aside from a few couples seated outside with drinks. We were asked to seat ourselves and it took 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a server, again whatever no biggie. We eventually were able to order a beer and a glass of wine which arrived fairly quickly. Then we waited and waited and waited, to order food. We finally saw a server after about 20 more minutes and ordered the shrimp appetizer, wedge salad, and burgers along with another round of drinks. 20 minutes after that, without receiving our drinks, we were brought the wrong starters. We told the server who seemed very confused, but she agreed to take it back and look for our order. We also mentioned that at this point we had been sitting there for 50 minutes without service and asked about our drink order. Servers were just wandering around like lost puppies. We then decided to leave because we knew it was going to take another 30 minutes for them to make the right salad and pour a glass of wine. We couldn't find anyone to give us our check for our two drinks so we put down $30 on the table and walked out. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but by this point I was pretty upset that I wasted so much of my one day per month I get to go out and relax on this place. I could understand if they were slammed, but there were 2 servers, a bartender and bar back, and kitchen staff for about 10 customers, and it might not have been so obnoxious if I didn't watch the servers doing multiple shots behind the bar. I guess I'm glad they got to have a nice time while my very rare date night time was wasted. Both of us left very disappointed. Idk what's going on here but I don't think anyone should bother with the place. read more
