Food was pretty good but it takes FOREVER to get your food. Staff was polite but this is no fast food establishment. The door says they open at 6 am. I arrived at 8 am and the doors where still locked I had to go through the gas station to access it. None of the screens where on so I couldn't look at a menu. This place has potential but needs a new owner or a better management to make things work smoothly

    Undercooked

Some cooks have no food safety sense. Nothing like licking ones fingers and touching food. Bare hands all over you food when serving. Half cooked burgers. This place Is a disaster just waiting to happen. After reading other posts it maybe time to call the health department. I have emailed the president of the company let's see what he says.

Mostly an average cheddar with one side a hard to find burnt white bread and the other side a hidden steamed white bread.

GROSS! Took 25 minutes to be served at 3 pm, the grilled cheese was just disgusting and the onion rings just ok. Not clean either.

Very good burger and fries. Fresh ingredients. Cheese skirt is awesome. Friendly service.

Has this place closed? There are reports that in Penn Valley, it has permanently closed and is turning into a 7-11? Tell me it's not true!!

It's open. Just rebranded the gas station side.

The cheese skirt was a surprise, but my husband just folded it into the sandwich no problem.

We arrived a little early for our reservation and were taken to the bar to wait until our table was ready. Word to the wise, make a reservation as the place gets packed! We decided to share a few things so we could try more and ended up with the following: *Sourdough bread with butter - this was delicious! My only small nit is that I wish the bread was warm. *Stonefruit salad - this was delicious and very fresh *Scallops - absolutely delicious and perfectly seared and cooked! One thing I'll note is that the scallops are very very pricey at over $60 for 5-6 of them. I know it's super fresh and delicious, but this felt like it was overpriced. *Blintzes - we decided to finish with the blitzes for dessert, and these were delicious. Overall, the food was fantastic and the had a very decent selection of wines, and the place was overall very cute and the service very welcoming! Would absolutely highly recommend to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

I highly recommend this restaurant. Had it been located in a larger city, I am certain it would have earned a Michelin star.

Well versed on wines and quick to recommend menu items based on our preferences. Our ordering was somewhat haphazard and one of our party members only had drinks and appetizers, but he rolled with the punches and provided stellar service. We add on the patio, which was charming with twinkle lights and plenty of shade. We came during the height of the summer season, so it was very hot in front of the restaurant, but the patio was noticeably cooler. I would recommend a visit to Dion any time you are in Nevada City.

If we lived closer we'd end up as regulars here, but we'll definitely return on random weekends (and making reservations next time.) The feel of the place has a grotto and barn type of vibe. We'll check out the outdoor seating next time. There was nothing on the menu that disappoints so far. We look forward to exploring more (the duck wings will make a repeat appears for us.) This is a fun balance of higher end dining and multi regional creativity that we really enjoyed. The mix of high and low is something we explore a lot in our own kitchen, so we welcome that energy when dining out.

But how could I know that experience (and the service!! OMG the service!!!) was going to be so outstanding, that I would come back again the next evening to eat again?? The first night it was happy hour, with a spicy jalapeño mule, buffalo cauliflower, smoked Brussel sprouts, and a couple of beers. But the service was so attentive (almost too attentive) that we felt like we had to watch for gaps so we could take a bite or a sip in between folks checking in to see if we needed more food, more refills, or just a friendly hello! The next night was burgers, and brews, and bloody Marys - and again, the most amazing thoughtful, interactive and attentive service I have ever seen! And being a business owner, I can tell you that it's not enough to have a beautiful setting on the river with great views and a decent menu. Having servers, managers, bartenders (hell even the bussers had smiles and were polite and friendly) absolutely seals the deal. I really have no reason to go back to to El Dorado Hills in the near future other than work, but because of this single restaurant experience, I can tell you I am trying to find more reasons to return!

We also ordered the shrimp appetizer, it was absolutely delicious but quite small. The taste was 10/10, perfect spice level and the wonton crisps were perfectly crispy and fresh without being greasy at all. The lettuce portion is covered in a dressing that creates an added layer to the dish. I love the atmosphere of South Fork, it's dim, romantic, and somehow perfect for a girls (or boys) night out. They do have sports quietly playing on the tvs. There's always a little room to wiggle in at the bar. Will absolutely be back!
