Our first time here so we weren't really sure what to expect. The food was really good. The only complaint I have about the food is I ordered the Chicken Penne Pasta and there was a lot of pasta and not a lot of chicken. Good flavor though. It didn't come with any sides. It took a long time to get someone to wait on us. Finally an awesome waiter named Dalton said he would take care of us since our waitress/waiter couldn't be found. He did a fantastic job of checking on us and delivering drinks through the madhouse this place became once live music took the stage. Once the live music started our evening went downhill fast. The band was Big Jack is unbelievably good. An AC/DC tribute band that I would love to see again but can't deal with the crowds. The dance floor was completely packed with people and they weren't dancing. We had a table along the wall by the band and we got packed in and blocked by so many people in the place. They were way over capacity. Forget trying to get through the crowd to go to the bathrooms on the other side of the bldg. This place needs to limit the number of people they allow. They need to be more concerned with their patrons safety and less about how much $ they can take in. Their cover charge is $7 where most places it's still $5. read more

This place is really authentically kitschy cool. They have an amazing stage for live music. The bar has really good happy hour prices - $3 bottles / $2 drafts. This place is a real western style steakhouse. I would say the steak I had was comparable to some of my favorite places in Ft Worth. The side salad was good - but the broccoli was a bust. When we ordered they were out of ice tea...... so they made a pitcher just for my table. Service was friendly and chipper and didn't rush us- even 40 minutes before the restaurant closed. read more

First of all, everything here is huge! We had the crab fondue served w/loaf of buttered bread. warm, bubbly, cheesy goodness w/lumps of crab. They have big steaks...28 oz Prime Rib on the bone cooked to order (1-1/2-2" thick) lightly seasoned served w/Au Jus and 2 sides. The service is down home country friendly. The place is a bit of a dive (could use some sprucing up). But, they crank out some good eats. Caution: if you can't eat large portions of cow..eat 1/2 take the rest home or split w/someone. Family Went in for lunch on Friday. Service was great, food was even better. We had Steak Sub, Crab cake, chicken tenders, bacon cheese burger, are we're excellent. Also had French onion soup which was awesome. My daughter had buffalo chicken wrap, which was really spicy, but good. We will def be back. read more

By far the worst food I ever had. I wouldn't feed this to horses!! We had the appetizer combo. Fried hell and all taste the same. And cold! We ordered a rack of ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes with gravy. The mash potatoes were ice cold and the gravy looked like chocolate syrup. Been here forever... but it has not changed at all. Not in a good way. Very old decor... needs updating. The food is not good and gives me a stomachache every time I go. Poor drink choices.... The food is to die for! The food portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. The bar is small but very nice. If you enjoy good live entertainment along with amazing food with some of the locals, this place is for you! I was very excited to come to Stables as an out-of-towner after hearing great things about it from my local friends, who claimed it to be the quintessential Westminster spot to get a hearty dinner. They definitely weren't wrong and I enjoyed my experience at Stables, but a few things could have been better. My brother and I came for dinner around 5:30 on a Friday. The hostess mentioned they had a lot of groups that night (we noticed a lot of big families) but we were seated immediately. Our server was great, unfortunately didn't catch his name but he did a good job of checking up on us and refilling drinks. For an appetizer we had the mozzarella sticks, which are pretty hard to mess up, but they seemed just a little under-done to both of us; just too lightly fried and didn't have that crispy-melty combo that you look for in mozzarella sticks. For dinner, I ordered the Stable burger, partly because it seemed like a good "classic" item to get and also because at $9.00 it was one of the cheaper items on the menu, with most of the entrees in the 16-20 range, which surprised me for a casual place like this. The burger was huge (awesome) and cooked how I asked and came with provolone, lettuce, and tomato: the two pieces of iceberg lettuce were kind of falling off, and the two slices of tomato were pretty small, so it just didn't really LOOK all that great, but it was really yummy and filling. All in all we had a good time and I would come again, not for a five star meal but definitely to hang out with friends and fill up on some classic American food. Called 2 weeks ahead of event for table reservations for dinner and to stay for the band and to arrive there before our reservation time to find out they had given our table to people that walked in with no reservations and said they weren't staying for the band but actually did. Complained to hostess, waitresses, and the owner that only laughed at us. We have total disrespect for this establishment and how they treat customers all about the money and not respecting customers that wanted to come enjoy their favorite band and to have dinner w/o going thru what we did to only be laughed at and the owner said what do you want me to do about it.....really no respect for owner or Stables! Will not patronize this place ever again and do NOT have recommend it to anyone!! read more

Food came out cold. The mashed potatoes were just instant potatoes. Coleslaw was too watery. Husband said the ribs he had were probably the worst he's had. I had the crab cake and it was just ok. Had to send the ribs back. Still paid but was the worst $50 we ever paid. At least the waitress was nice. read more

Huge portions but the sides are pretty much starch or canned veggies. Steak Night (Tuesdays) cannot be beat for value and the steaks are cooked to order well. Ribs are good and really affordable the sweet barbecue sauce tends to be too much. Ask for it on the side and you will be happy you did. Definitely not the typical chain experience and the staff is very friendly and willing to help. We are locals and this is now our go to place. If ordering Italian/Greek food ask the waiter what is made fresh as that is what you want. Kudos to the owner for keeping live music and comedy in Westminster! read more

Everything on the menu is great. Their Tuesday Steak Night is amazing. The crab cakes and crab melts are huge. Every time I try something different on the menu, it makes me realize why this place is always packed. The staff at Stables are excellent; they go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied. My husband and I love this place!!!! read more

Wow this place is BAD. Very slow service, we didn't even see our waitress for 15-20 minutes at a clip. They brought a child sized water glass for an adult, which wasn't re-filled regularly cuz the waitress was MIA. We waited over an hour for our food, when ask if they could check on the food they acted offended AND never apologized for the wait or even tried to explain why the wait was so long. The place was near empty in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday. The food was blah overall. Average food combined with VERY BAD SERVICE at upper middle prices made for a very unmemorable experience. A large quantity of food did not make up for the poor quality of food or service. read more

The only thing that should have gotten a few extra star should have been our server he was good. Food on the other hand was less then desirable. What traditionally was great was horrible, I purchased a prime rib which was raw in the center and chard on the outside in all honesty the worst steak I ever eat a restaurant. Large portions to be sure, having said that large not always the best. Apple sauce out of a can, French fries frozen. I can say without a doubt they have wonderful crab cakes and value for your dollar. Lived in Westminster over twenty years only been there once didn't like it went there for ribs. A friend talked about the crab cakes thought to give it another try those crab cakes were big and full of lump crab meat. I will go again for the crab cakes. read more

Terrible experience. Friends and I used to eat here all the one when I was in college. So my husband and kids and I came into town from Pittsburgh, and I HAD to eat here. To start our experience, the server spilled an entire glass of water down my back and all over my pants, and inside my purse. Brought napkins, but never mopped up the mess so I sat with my feet in water the whole time. I got my staple- cream of crab soup. I may have had 2-3 bites that actually had crab in it. The rest was crab flavor cream soup. Dinner came. My crab cake was raw and runny inside. Runny!!!! I cut into it and the insides ran out. Seriously. How do you mess up a crab cake this bad? My husbands steak was undercooked, and all three potatoes were cold and hard. At no point did anyone in charge ever come over to check on us or say they were sorry. Nothing. It's a shame that a place that was once awesome is now so terribly run. read more

Great place for home cooked food. Portions are generous with reasonable prices. Been several times for "rib night" and they are the best in Carroll County. Most atrocious breakfast ever. 15 minutes after we were seated the staff finally approached to give us menus. 45 minutes later the nearly inedible food arrived. crabcakes are awesome. chicken tenders are good. veggies are canned. not the place for a steak. you have to watch what time you go on what night because they have entertainment and a cover. we have arrived just to turn around and leave. weekend evenings are no good. if you want an evening family dinner - this is not the place. they charge a cover to get in if you just want to eat, and some of the performances are not family appropriate. who gets their family together for an evening meal during the week??? read more
