Come here once a week or two. Good, solid sized burgers with great grilled onions. The pretzel bun for 25 extra cents is worth it so sub that for sure. Kinda funny that they ask me how I want my burger cooked like 50 percent of the time and I never know what to answer, but they're real nice about it so that's cool. On a whim I took all 3 of my babies (3 1/2 year old), 18 month, & 7 month old out to dinner here. I called ahead to make sure they had plenty of high chairs, whoever picked up the phone was very kind. There was hardly a wait but after we got there a line started piling up of what looked like a group from some place with their children. They went through the line so fast I was very impressed. Even if they are busy they will take your order and get through the line very quickly. The veggie burger was surprisingly delicious, it's hard to find good burger spots that do veggie burgers well. I personally wasn't a fan of the Mac & Cheese, if they improved upon that I would be very happy. Hubby loved his burger and my 18 month old loved the fries, my 3 1/2 year old loved his hotdog (his new favorite food), and my baby loved her mashed avocado. At first I had a difficult time finding napkins and I became a little bit stressed out but we found them and we had a great time. We will definitely come again. I wasn't in the mood for salad but they looked good on the menu and worth trying next time. I'm so curious what the French onion soup burger is like. At first I thought I could order the soup and then my husband told me it was a burger too and I wasn't so sure if I felt like being so adventurous that night so I went with the veggie burger. It's hard to go light here and certainly not the place to go to if you're watching your calories. My friend and I had lunch here. We ordered our own items, but shared an order of Onion Rings. I had the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. This is a super intense Grilled Cheese. In fact, I think it may have too much flavor and that it was slightly salty. Also, a bit too oily for me to finish the entire sandwich. Overall, I really enjoyed The Stand. It's a big and spacious restaurant with both Indoor and outdoor seating. Tried The Stand for my first time yesterday for lunch. This was my first time at any of their locations, and I was surprised to see that they have a handful of locations across the greater Los Angeles area, as I had never seen or heard of them before. The Calabasas location was very spacious and quite nice. I think I'll definitely be back at some point for more. This is the kind of place where you order and pay at the front, take a number, then wait for your food to be delivered to you. When I was there, they had a few registers open, and therefore no wait, despite arriving right at prime-time lunch hour at 12 noon. I'm a fan. Very large flat screen TVs placed throughout the restaurant offer an opportunity to catch up on sports or watch a game. To eat, I ordered the Stand Burger, priced at $7.95. The food came out pretty quick, and I was impressed by the quality. My burger was cooked well, and the bun was great! I would definitely order it again. Service was nice, and the restaurant itself is large and clean. If you're a fan of burgers, definitely give this place a try. Aside from burgers, they also have sandwiches and salads. read more

Food here is good. However, I would not suggest doing an online order or taking your food to go. Every time I do, they mess it up. The attached photo is a burger with "light lettuce". Never mind the entire salad in the box! They could have at least given me a side of dressing for the burger disguised as a salad. The Calabasas location at least seems to have a very hard time with following directions so get your food for there. That way you can make sure it's correct and have them fix it if it's not. I love this place. Their food is great. However, this last experience was awful. I called to place my order in advance for pick up. I was put on hold for a "moment". I was in the car heading towards the location thinking that at any moment someone would come back on the line so that I could place my order. I got to The Stand, waited in line and got to the cashier. I explained to the cashier that at this point I've been on hold for 18 minutes. I asked her to please take my order and rush it as I was placed on hold and completely forgotten about. She asked her manager who said "no sorry we can't do that". Great location and great food! I came here for the first time and had such a pleasant experience. I got the seared ahi tuna salad which was amazing. My husband got the chili cheese dog with fries which was delicious and my daughter got the mac and cheese which was also really good. The stand is a really good hotdog or hamburger stand. I love the pickles that they offer as well. Even if there's a line, it goes quickly and the food comes up hot and taste really good. We stopped by this spot as we were driving from San Diego to Santa Barbara and we were quite glad we did. The people were super friendly, the facility was large so you can stay away from others, and it was very clean. I got the Big Blue burger and my wife got the turkey burger. Both were cooked perfectly, super juicy, and way tasty. We were able to sit outside on the patio, distanced from other diners so we felt safe. The Stand is going to be added to the roster of places to stop when driving through La for sure. Great place. read more

I've been eating at The Stand quite regularly over the years. The Encino and Woodland Hills locations are very good. The Calabasas location is NOT. The tables go uncleared and full of the last patron's trash for a LONG time. The iced tea always tastes old and like the container has not been properly cleaned. The food takes a long time to come out (long for a glorified fast food restaurant). Today, my salad was filled with totally frozen cucumbers. They failed to fix it for me for over a half hour and ultimately said that they had asked me if I wanted another and that I had said "no". That was not true. That did not happen. In fact, the person that was supposed to remake the salad asked me if there were any substitutions that I had requested on the original salad so that they could remake it. Whoever the manager is at this location needs to be retrained or find a job in a different industry. Preferably, one that does is NOT in the food service industry or that deals with the public in general. AVOID! read more

The food itself was top quality however the preparation was not done well! I ordered a simple hot dog with just "a little mustard" and an add-on of fried onion strings. Ordered "to go". I got to my car and as I unwrapped it, everything fell off. The onion strings were on top of the hot dog and a lot of mustard on top of that. Fantastic place to go with family, friends or a date. The menu is huge. I will need to go back 10 times to try everything I want. Because the portion sizes are hearty you could either share or go on an empty stomach. They have beer, soda and custard. Signs include fries, sweet potato fries and custard. But seriously, get some custard. The custard is fantastic but for some reason I'm not a huge fan of their chocolate shake. The line to get to the counter goes through the middle of the store which is next to a lot of tables. It's unfortunate because I don't really enjoy people in line staring at me while I'm eating a foot away from them. They also have ample patio seating. Had a really unpleasant experience the last time I visited The Stand in Calabasas for pickup. This was about my 10th visit during the pandemic and the other nine were fine. Food here is really good, can't complain about that, see my 2018 review when things were "normal" back then. We haven't gone out for in-restaurant dining since the pandemic began in March. Everything has been takeout because sitting at an outdoor table with serving staff in PPE didn't sound relaxing or like a pleasant experience. I live closer to the Woodland Hills location but prefer this location for some reason. There's an opportunity to get curbside pick-up in Calabasas but I prefer to go inside for some reason. Apparently, I'm a glutton for punishment. Every time I visit, I follow the queue like normal for pickup even though I always order online. After I waited for a while, six feet behind others who ordered online or over the phone, about 10 people suddenly came in and lined up at the counter bypassing me. Then, a woman at the counter started serving these newly arrived guests even though I was waiting in line for 8 minutes for the exact same thing. They never asked if I was picking up. They assume some people in December 2020 are still arriving at restaurants to peruse the menu board and decide on the spot what sounds good to them to eat that night even though dining out is illegal because Los Angeles is the epicenter of the global pandemic right now. I asked the gentleman at the counter what was going on and why I was being ignored and he pointed to an outdated menu sign that said pickup was at the counter. Well, there are tables and chairs neatly set up throughout the dining room that are also for dining there that can't be used either. Since he was clearly brushing me off while people were still being served ahead of me, I requested a delightful conversation with the restaurant manager to better understand company policies so that I may be properly informed upon my subsequent visits. He responded: "I am the manager," just like the Dave Chappelle's Show "Pop Copy" skit (see it if you haven't already; they tell all employees to say they are the manager). Ridiculous. While I was leaving, another guy came out of the queue and got immediately behind me at the counter (2 feet away). I suggested to the "manager" that his restaurant was rather chaotic. This stand doesn't know how to give out food. It's somewhat reminiscent of the Stephen King pandemic set, post-apocalyptic novel of the same name. I pick up food frequently and I haven't seen a restaurant so disorganized during the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally, one line is for everything because no one is ordering in-restaurant right now. If we go to The Stand again, it will not be this location. read more

I know during COVID things are not like they were before. We have never been here so I'm not sure how it was before. We ordered inside and sat outside which was nice however I don't think they were properly sanitizing the tables. The guy just took a bucket of water that had been sitting there with a rag in it and wiped the table. Maybe it was alright, I don't know. The hamburger was really good however it came out nothing like we ordered it. Maybe we got the wrong Berger. The Thai salad was really tasty and all the ingredients were fresh. The dressing was spicy and tasty. However, the noodles were a complete disaster! The whole bottom of the salad was a noodle that was pasty and undercooked. It tasted like cardboard. I substituted the pretzel roll and wow I was delighted how amazing a sandwich it was.
