It pains me to have to write this negative review because it's very rare that I do so. This is one of my go to spots in El Segundo and I have to say that my most recent visit will likely be my last. My fiancée and I stopped in for lunch prior to my flight to New Orleans. The server/bartender, a petite blonde woman wearing a pink hat, came to take our drink order. We placed our drink order and as I began to ask a question about a menu item, she threw up her hand, turned to walk away and said "I can't." I'm sorry...you can't??? You're so busy that you don't have 10 seconds to answer a quick question? The establishment wasn't busy, most of the tables were empty and the bar area wasn't even halfway occupied, and if she was truly busy, I'm fairly certain that she could've found another way to politely tell us that she'd be right back to answer the question. I've been to Standard Station dozens of times, many times when it was packed with patrons, and I have never been dismissed the way this woman dismissed me. The place underwent a facelift - MUCH BETTER. Their happy hour is 7 DAYS A WEEK and goes from 3pm-7pm. (Most places only do weekdays and end at 6pm, some at 5pm, I don't get that...) I started with a schooner of blue star and put in a buncha orders off their happy hour menu: AVOCADO TEMPURA: Crunchy and creamy at the same time. It stood all on its own, I didn't even bother trying them with the two kinds of dip it came with (although I should have since GN's BF said they was bomb!) TOTS POUTINE: I've had my share of tots prepped different ways, but this absolutely tops them all. On the saltier side since they served it with blue cheese (instead of curds.) This pairs well with beer! BAKED ITALIAN MEATBALL PLATTER: Don't let the small bowl fool you, it comes with about 4-5 pieces of meatballs. When the tribute coming off Staples came on, they switched all their TV sets and turned up the sounds to make sure everyone can view and hear the show properly. I know: it's a bar, and people are allowed to talk, but this was a special circumstance and these ***bleeepsss*** are so dense, everyone was close to pouncing at them. Good thing they left shortly because it could have been an unpretty night for them.) Shout out to the cooks. We were seated right in front of the kitchen so we saw how much they were hustin'. Most of the places on that website suck, but this place didn't. We had to spend $50 in order to get $25 off. We were lucky to snag a booth because the Rams playoff game was about to start. So if you go on a big game day, definitely go early and you'll have a better chance of finding seats. It's loud as hell in there, but that's part of the atmosphere. Needless to say, finding a place with happy hour deals on the weekend is tough and this was definitely a pleasant surprise especially since I live close by. Along with the girlfriend, we ordered 4 food items and 2 drinks and it only came out to about $35 (all from the happy hour menu). The Brussel sprouts weren't that great, they were dripping with oil. The mini steak sandwiches were good, come in 3 (take a look at the picture). The wings I ordered were garlic Thai, not bad, decent size, not bad for $5. The best food item I ordered this time were the tots which had a great blend of sauce and even bleu cheese which I've never been that big a fan of but was still a delicious blend. The margarita I got was solid for $6 and even looking at the menu, they've got a great bar selection depending on your choice of drink. It was very good however, what I didn't enjoy was the cook and the bar back making fun of me while I was sitting on the toilet using the restroom thought it was very funny to make a comment,"push my friend push my friend ", and just continue to berate me and harass me while I was on the toilet it was totally humiliating. I have never been treated like this in any restaurant anywhere in the world this was just bizarre behavior, which I completely did not understand, however, they were talking in Spanish and joking and making fun of me and I was really sad to hear the things they were saying.
