Excellent food and service! The steakhouse is a great place for a nice dining experience. We started with a glass of delicious wine, which we chose from a wide selection of offerings. My husband ordered the ribeye, which was cooked perfectly and was extremely tender and flavorful. My salmon bernaise was delicious, also. The salad was fresh with excellent dressings. Each year, my supervisor takes the leadership staff out for dinner during the Christmas Holiday. This is an evening where work is left behind and we could unwind and enjoy a nice evening out . This year, The Steakhouse on Whitmarsh Island was the restaurant of choice. When we arrived, our table was set and ready for us. While we waited for our entrees, we talked and were enjoying ourselves while listening to the live entertainment. When the entrees were served, 5 of the steak orders and 1 chicken order were over cooked. The wife of the owner came to the table and stated that our table was the only table that had an issue with the food that was served. She went on to say that they had lost money with our table, the food was cooked "spot on", and they would not be made over. She proceeded to tell us to leave the restaurant. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant in my life. As I was leaving the restaurant, it dawned on me that the only Black people in the restaurant was at our table. Everyone from the musicians, wait staff, kitchen help and greeter were all White. At that very moment, I realized that the issue was not that we wanted our food to be prepared correctly but, they did not want any Black Patrons in their establishment. In the year 2023 and after having a Black US President, Black people are still considered to be second class citizens and do not deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. It would have been better for them to place a sign in the window, "No Blacks Allowed" as opposed to allowing us to come into their establishment and treat us in such a manner to let us know that we are not wanted. read more

I've been coming to The Steakhouse for years, especially for special occasions, not only for the food but to hear Annie Allman perform her magic jazz guitar sets. My visit came to a screeching halt the other night. As usual, the restaurant was serving just one choice of "vegetable" that night, which was snow peas, technically not a vegetable but a legume. I am allergic to nuts and legumes. Because mushrooms were listed as a steak topping choice on the menu, I asked if I could substitute the mushrooms for the vegetable. The waitress said, "No, we don't do that." "Even though it's on the menu?" I asked. "I've never heard of anyone being allergic to vegetables," she replied, escalating my allergy to a broad category, a common technique when one is debating and trying to make the opposing side look ridiculous. I didn't realize I was in a debate: I just came to celebrate my 70th birthday and be grateful that I could while I am undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. "Actually, snow peas are not a vegetable, but a legume," I replied, ignoring her efforts to be oppositional. "I'm allergic to nuts and legumes." "We can't accommodate people just because they don't like the vegetable," she said. "We can give you extra potatoes. We like to keep things simple." " Simple for you, but not for the customer. It's not that I don't like it: I'm allergic," I said. Understand that my dining partner was perfectly willing to pay extra for the substitution, but making an exception to the rule seemed to be the issue for the server. My friend then said, "May I speak to the owner or manager?" The server said, "I AM the owner!" raising her voice. I didn't believe her, but said nothing. I later thought she might have been telling the truth because if she WAS a server and not the owner, she probably would have been fired long before. When my friend and I hesitated for just a few seconds, the server then said, "So, are you staying, or are you leaving?" We left, but not before giving Miss Alman a generous tip and explaining why we were leaving on the way out. We shall NEVER return. As any good customer service instructor (I am one) will tell you, satisfied customers tend to say nothing, but dissatisfied customers tell at least 100 people. I think I can exceed that average. FYI. Had a reservation. Arrived 12 min late. Hostess informed us she gave the table away in accordance with their rules. She stated they hold the table for 15 min. She showed us the time on her iPad which was clearly before 15 min. We stated we were in the 15 min window she kept insisting the rule is all over their website but we were there before 15 min timeout. Not good especially since they don't take walk ins anymore so who did she give the table away to???? Unfortunately not worth hassling with her. We won't be back & we're locals. read more

Awful. We went with a party of five for my husbands birthday and we're so sorry! Spent $200 for three of us and it was a waste of money. Husband got the ribeye, ordered medium, and it was charred to a crisp. My dad ordered end cut prime rib and granted prime rib is redder but this was literally raw. The center was cold. He took it home to recook himself. I am not a steak person so I got the "homemade vodka sauce" pasta. The dish was cold and the sauce was basically strong tasting tomato paste dumped on pasta. Lumpy and congealed. Our friends intensely disliked their meals as well. The wine was watery and clearly not what I had ordered. The staff was incredibly slow, it took forever for us to be able to order. Thankfully we had a reservation so were sEated quickly. Others who came stood around for a good 20 minutes with not so much as a nod of recognition that they were waiting. So, so disappointed! This place is a diamond in the rough. A fairly short menu which to me says know what your strengths are. Their strengths: a great steak meal. My wife and I both got the filet and couldn't have expected a better meal at a super high end steakhouse. Perfectly cooked fork tender and the starches were a great compliment. It was not what I expected in a stripe mall. Everything was outstanding. The waitress, Sarah, was so sweet and attentive that I left her a 25% tip. The ribeye steaks were so tender and flavorful cooked to perfection. My steak was topped off with sautéed onions and mushrooms. My partner's steak was topped off with mushrooms and grilled shrimp. The salad, garlic mashed potatoes and the roasted brussel sprouts were very good. They had a great dessert menu. I had the pecan butter rum cake with whipped cream and caramel sauce which was decadent. They had live music, a guitarist that was excellent. The chef/owner came to our table to see how our food was and thanked us for coming. As you can see that we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will definitely come back the next time we are in Savannah. read more

We had really been craving a steak since arriving on Tybee Island. We tried a few places, but nothing that made me consider writing a review. This place is about 15 min from Tybee Island. We had another place we had to be at 8pm so we liked that they accepted reservations. It's a small place, but the service and food where both excellent. From the conversation I could overhear it seemed like a place locals visited a lot. We had the stuffed portobello mushroom for an appetizer along with the seared scallops both were amazing! Taste, temperature and presentation were spot on. My husband had the filet mignon medium rare, and I had the ribeye medium. Again both were cooked to temperature, and the crust on my ribeye was perfect providing an excellent flavor. We tried their homemade cheesecakes for dessert and they did not disappoint! Staff were all friendly and professional. It was a treat to dine here and we will definitely be back! read more

Service was outstanding as well as the entertainment of Annie Allman! I have brought friends here that were so impressed that they are now spreading the word. The only criticism I have is our waitress the first time we went wouldn't wear her mask correctly and smelled like she just came in from her smoke break. I just want to warn people about what a waste of money this restaurant is. We had a party of five people. This place was pricey, slow, and the food was just terrible. My husband ordered the ribeye steak medium. What came out was a charred, thin, tasteless, nasty steak. My father ordered prime rib, and granted prime rib is generally rare looking, his was raw. Chewy raw. He even ordered the end cut! He took his home to recook as it's a pricey cut of meat. He could barely eat any of it. I ordered the pasta with "homemade vodka sauce" which was very clearly just tomato paste dumped on some pasta, and it was ice cold! Not even tomato sauce, clumpy, cold tomato paste! They had a riesling on the menu but were out of it, so I ordered a moscato instead. What they brought me was clearly a watered down chardonnay! No taste, just watery. Our friends ordered the ribeye and the salmon both of which they hated. The service was insanely slow. It took us well over two hours to get out of there. A couple stood at the door for over 20 minutes waiting to be sat, and there were numerous open tables that did not have reserved signs on them and the staff couldn't even be bothered to say "we'll be with you in a minute"! I paid for my husband, father and myself and the bill was $200. I don't mind paying a hefty price for a good meal, but this was just completely terrible. I hate giving a bad review, but this was probably one of the worst meals my family and I have ever had in Savannah. read more
