I found the show through an ad promoting a 2-for-1 ticket deal: two tickets for the price of one ($15), with a two-drink minimum per person. The 2-for-1 was in the ad and even printed on the ticket itself. But when we went to scan in, the older gentleman checking tickets told us that wasn't how it worked. When we pointed out that it was exactly what had been advertised and says on the ticket, he said he'd "do us a favor" and let us in this time, but told us to "take care of our server." The venue wasn't full -- we were seated in the first section, and the upstairs wasn't being used at all -- so it's hard not to wonder if this was less about ticket policy and more about steering people toward bigger tips for the servers. Either way, it was a rough way to start our first visit to the Laugh Factory. Fortunately, everything after that was great. The hosts and comedians were hilarious, the servers were attentive, the drinks were good, and the venue itself was comfortable. I'd absolutely come back -- I'd just call ahead first to confirm ticket details so I don't have to deal with that unwelcoming entry experience again.

A dog started barking from inside, and then the owner opened the door and asked if I was going to a class. Before I could even respond, the dog came blasting out through the door and tried to attack my dog. The owner then hit his dog and grabbed the dogs collar and started dragging the dog towards the door. When they got back to the front door, the guy asked again if I was taking a class. I told him no, I'm just responding to a text, in a public area and your dog almost attacked mine. He responded "shut up, b*tch". Violent and aggressive behavior across the board.

I took a Waymo over so can't comment on parking but it's a nice venue with some chill outdoor seating on the front patio, as well as indoor seating. They have a coffee shop by day (opens at 9am) and then they have the stage & sell drinks by night (starting about 6pm). I was happy they had some GOOD craft beers on the menu, as well. I wished the staff was a little more friendly but it was a busy night. The venue itself is great for smaller comedy shows with good sound & lighting quality. They also do mini concerts, drag, theater shows, storytelling - really anything you can think of that needs a stage with 85 seats. Dynasty Typewriter hosts a variety of live show types from comedy stand up to podcast tapings to…read moresmall concerts. The building is old school opened in 1926 as a Vaudeville house so it's always been entertaining. It's had different iterations over the years, most recently the Hayworth Theatre. Then in 2018 it officially became Dynasty Typerwriter Now the theater is in Westlake, right next to MacArthur Park where many of Los Angeles' unhomed population lives. So yes you can search and find street parking, but if you have a nicer car it may be better to just not risk it and park in the nearby parking garage - 611 S Carondelet Street. Rideshare is ideal though. It's a small theater (200 seats) so if you are hoping for a close up seat to see better or get in on some crowd work, you should arrive when doors open. I am quite the opposite and enjoy a good view, but sitting far outside of the crowd-work arena! Give me a good seat on the side back a few rows and I'm happy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE crowdwork, just not aimed at me. I've seen Tig Notaro and Marc Maron here - obviously both great shows and I enjoyed them! When you sit in the seat, prepare for a little trip. They glide! haha It's kind of weird but kind of fun that they slide a bit but I see it shocking everyone when they first sit down so prepare yourself. They are the kind of seats that start hurting after sitting for an hour so my fellow ADHD peoples, prepare to do a lot of shifting in your seat. They have good canned beer options, including a couple of NA which is nice. Also full concession stand for snacks, including their special popcorn. Staff is friendly and I always enjoy this venue! I will absolutely be back.

Comfy feeling theater, the chairs are interesting recliners but it works for the vibe. Popcorn and snacks are great. Everyone seems happy to be there. Especially after laughing at Michael's show! Bravo!
