My boyfriend, who recently moved to a plant based diet, found this place and surprised me with a night out! The food was AMAZING! I know vegans and plant based people say this, but if you were ever to try a vegan/plant based meal, THIS is the place to do it! The jambalaya and gnocchi were absolutely the most amazing food I have EVER tasted!!! We switched plates for a bit, but were happy to exchange back again. This is also the first time in YEARS. We have ever ordered desert and their vegan options were so rich and decadent, you would never have known they were vegan...rich and creamy! The restaurant charges $10 unless you order 2 starters or 1 entree per person Then charge $5 for sharing. Also if you use a Groupon they charge 25% tip. Only 1 Groupon per table even when paying separately for separate couple dinner. Drinks are overpriced at $14 per cocktail and not very good. Stick with wine. Entrees start at $40. They are large and very good. No complaints on the scallop, halibut or grouper dinners. read more

We ordered the duck breast & Grouper special. The food was good but not hot for both entrees & the sides. We advised 2 different servers that the food was barely luke warm. We got no sorry & no offer to heat up the meals and walked away from the table. They showed no concern about our meals. This is no way to treat a repeat customer & local resident. My family can take me back to The Studio anytime! ;) First of all, we were seated at the table right in front of the live musician and beside the artist painting at an easel (which apparently makes some people uncomfortable), but really, it was great! The decorations are simple and classy (branches covered in lights, red drapes from the ceiling) and THE ART. Maybe the nude ones aren't for everyone, but wow, the paintings were beeeaautiful! If you want a cocktail recommendation, get the raspberry Cosmo. Our table started with bread and butter, the crab bisque, and the ahi tuna (with seaweed salad) - so good! The trio special was apparently to die for and the grouper with crab on top got glowing reviews. I tried the pad Thai with shrimp and although good (I did clear the plate afterall), I was wishing I had ordered the salmon instead. So, maybe skip that one. What I thought makes this restaurant better than most pricey restaurants in its class, were how many vegetarian/vegan options there were!! And can we please talk about dessert? This was our first time dining at The Studio and it was an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the attractive art exhibits add a unique touch. The staff is welcoming, personable, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. The menu offers a nice variety of interesting and inviting dishes that made it difficult to make selections. This place has an amazing ambiance and knowing that you will potentially get served by the owner (who by the way is also the primary artist of almost all the amazing art on the walls) is quite a treat. I love the fact that they have so many vegan options which will blow even the most carnivorous eater's mind. So far I haven't had anything but stellar service and outstanding food. One recommendation would be to make sure you save room for the vegan chocolate cake. You won't be disappointed! We enjoyed our dinner tonight. We had the crab and onion soup (wow, was that delicious), grouper, and the salmon. My salmon was a little too done for my taste, so I know how to order better next time. The flavors for both dishes were excellent, regardless. Our desserts were the chocolate cake and the banana/chocolate bread pudding. Both were very tasty. What stood out, though, was the great service we received from the person who answered the phone when we called to place our order. The drinks were refreshing, the bread with butter, oil, and nutritional yeast was a nice touch, the appetizers were delicious, the main course was excellent! The grilled portobello mushroom was great & a new addition to the menu of Spring Rolls, that were so awesome! Very considerate of one of our four eaters that had food sensitivities. The live musician was excellent! It was piped outside where we ate outside on the patio. I called ahead to see if they offered outdoor eating where we could bring our dog. The lady offered to open the patio for us to eat outdoors with our dog even though the patio was closed due to the heat. She was very accommodating! When we arrived for our reservation they had a bowl of water ready for our dog! The staff were dog lovers and they were so nice to the dog. With that being said, the waitress told my husband to put on a jacket over his muscle shirt. This was puzzling, because I was wearing a much smaller tank top. We did notice so that another guest was giving us a look, so it's unclear if she actually asked them and they acted on this. There is no changing table in the bathroom. A great gem, especially for vegetarians, for something a little different in Hilton Head. Located in an artists studio the unique decor and food work really well together and overall it made for a really nice meal. The long and short of it: 1. Veggie Options. Vegetarians sometimes have issues when it comes to eating around this area. While the seafood is delicious, I do like it when the veg heads in my life can enjoy their meal as much as I'm enjoying mine. While my tuna steak au poivre was amazing, the hippie loaf and eggplant jambalaya were equally good. Not a complaint in the crowd. 2. Atmosphere. Artwork. Artwork everywhere. And it's all for sale! It still has an artists studio vibe, with a small, dark interior it's perfect for either a date or a larger gathering. I'd be interested to go back and see how the artwork has changed since my last visit. 3. Live Music. Live music was played for the entirety of our meal that really pulled the whole thing together. Not overly loud, it provided good background noise for the meal. 4. Price. The Studio was a bit on the expensive side, around $30/entree but it was well worth the price for the experience. The Studio will be on our list of places to go on our yearly visit to Hilton Head. This meal made an impact....the entertainment did as well, but we'll focus on the food. My girlfriend and I went for an adult night out and never looked back. We started with the Raspberry Cosmo's...they were so delicious we actually never changed over to wine with our meal. I had the romaine salad and she had the Crab & Vidallia onion bisque which was to die for...so she said. I had the duck breast and was completely enamored with all of the plate components. The food menu has both original and tasty vegan options and a full array of inventive meat based dishes. I came here with my family after it being recommended to us. We made a reservation for four for a Thurs night and we could've just winged it but definitely make one if you can plan ahead. The service was awesome, the concept of having a working studio was really fun, the location was convenient and the menu was really diverse. Two of us were vegan and the other two weren't and we all absolutely loved everything we ordered. Coming from NYC, I don't have sticker shock. But I found the vegan entrees to be priced really high ($22-30). The quality and quantity of the food was excellent so you do get a substantial amount, however I wouldn't mind a smaller amount that costs less. Nonethless this wouldn't keep me from coming back - but I'd have to save it for special occasions. There aren't many places (if any) in the area that deliberately cater to vegan or gluten free so this was a huge win for our table. Started with the studio salad. Very good. Hubby cleaned his plate of salmon. Said it was the best meal he's had on the island. High praise from him. MIL got the duck breast and loved it. FIL got scallops and said they were excellent. I got the Pad Thai. They aren't kidding when they say it's spicy. I can normally handle red curry but not that night. So, I'm going to put that one on me. Hubby, who loves all things mouth scorching, said it was great. MIL got the crumb cake and oohhed and ahhed over it. FIL got an irish coffee ( a first for him) and said it was great. Hubby loved his mocha coffee thing with some sort of liquor in it. I will say: this is not a place for children.
