I had heard of Blow Dry Bar from my friend, Courtney who loves them. So Blow Dry Bar was contracted to style hair and do make up for my daughter in law's wedding June 13 in Berkeley. They were amazing. They came in - and forgive me, I don't remember exactly how many ladies they had, 6, I am guessing - but we had 11 bridesmaids plus me (groom's mother), the mother of the bride and the little flower girl, not to mention the beautiful bride. These lovely ladies were super organized and efficient. They were friendly, but took care of business. We had all different hair types, lengths, colors, etc. and they did a fabulous job on everyone! Wow, I was so impressed. Some of the wedding party described what they wanted; some didn't know; some had pictures...I had a picture and Aly gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and it lasted all day, all night and all the next day. It could have lasted through the next day, too, if I had wanted it to but I thought I should actually take it out and brush it, LOL! They priced their services super reasonable, too. I could never had done anything to my hair like Aly did and she was also quick and offered suggestions and alternatives. I have to mention that they did a great job on the little flower girl, Lizzie, too. She looked too cute with her little curls and even though she wiggled a bit, her stylist did a fab job. The girls who had their makeup done looked beautiful. The bride looked radiant and glowing. The makeup was not overdone or fake. The wedding was outside and they looked great in the natural light. I would highly recommend BDB for styling and if I have a need for a function, will certainly give them a call. Thank you, Aly! For the price, BDB can't be beat. I have a mane of thick, curly and frizzy hair, but I always leave looking like a hair model after a visit here. I've seen Shannon the last couple of times and she's wonderful. The shampoo is just so so for the basic wash, but I often 'upgrade' to the scalp massage for $10. It's heaven and I think gets your hair even cleaner. You can direct them however you like - sleek straight, big curls, etc. I've never left with hair I didn't love. Their makeup services are great too. I find they are a little heavy on eye makeup, but with direction get what you want. read more

I had a great experience here yesterday, and can't wait to go back! Let me start off by saying I was slightly apprehensive to try another Blow dry bar after my terrible experience at Blo in the Marina. (review on that to come soon). However, I really needed to have my hair styled on a Sunday for some family pics, and my regular salon was closed. Leida, one of the owners, was my stylist and she did a fantastic job! I immediate liked her (probably because she offered me a complimentary glass of champagne) and she created the exact look I was going for. I ended up having her touch up my makeup as well! After flying in this morning for a wedding, the last thing I wanted to do was my hair. Found this place using yelp. It had mixed reviews, but it was nearby and thought anything would be better than what I could do. And, I am glad I did. I walked out with one of the best blowouts I've had in a long time. My stylist, Alnita, isn't there FT, she helps out when they are busy. But she was awesome! She asked what style I was thinking, I said either curls at the end or loose waves. I got loose waves. The latest and greatest trend in beauty has finally arrived in Walnut Creek. I have been wishing, hoping, and praying a blow dry bar would finally open in Walnut Creek. After much anticipation, Bdb has finally opened its doors. I went in on opening day and was set up with Meghan. She gave me an amazing style(one I actually wanted) that lasted throughout the night. The girls are extensively trained, they have great hours, and use great product lines. What more could someone ask for?! I came here for a trial a few months ago and wasnt sure about the styling. It wasnt bad.... but wasnt great. However, that could have been attributed to the gal I had (cant remember her name) who also told me about my split ends and how badly I needed by eyebrows done... thanks... After deliberation and urging from a friend. I ended up booking BDB for my wedding for bridal hair for myself and my girls. Shawna came to our hotel room and was PHENOMENAL. She was peppy, friendly and amazingly styled our hair. Four girls in 3-4 hours, thats pretty impressive. Anyways, she is FABULOUS, I would 110% recommend her for anyone. This is a great concept & will probably end up busting my budget, because it is fantastic! I am completely inept at even halfway styling my own hair, so the only time it looks good is after a trip to my regular stylist. Unfortunately, that's only every 3 months and a couple of hundred bucks. The BDB blowout by Michelle was such a nice treat. She took my limp, frizzy hair and turned it into silky, bouncy gloriousness. Well worth $35 and 30 minutes! Oh and free garage parking - awesome! read more

Yes to all of this place. There are not enough great places in the East Bay. They were able to accommodate a last minute appointment on a Wednesday (not always the case on the weekends) and the staff just knows what they are doing. The staff are very friendly, and they do a good job listening about what you want with your hair. This place is a 10! The customer centric approach from the receptionist to the stylist is unrivaled. I am very specific in how my blow- dry should be executed and how it should look, and the place rivaled with upscale Hollywood salons minus the sticker shock and long wait. Great experience. Madison did an excellent job. Usually when I get a blow out, a flatiron is required to get my hair perfectly smooth, but Madison managed it without one...my hair was smooth, shiny and had a great amount of volume! The receptionist leaves a little to be desired though. read more

Went here Friday to get my hair and makeup done for some photos. My stylist and makeup was done by Louise. I told her kind of what I wanted and then got her feedback and ideas. I went with what she suggested and both turned out great! I wanted sultry sexy waves and that's what my hair looked like. My makeup was dramatic with some natural tones. I also got the eyelashes which is an extra $10, which is a little pricey, but it did add something extra. My total was $90 for everything, which is not bad at all. I was there for about an hour and half. The owner seemed like a very nice girls and he saloon was clean and decorated nicely. I especially like the painting of Kurt Cobain hanging up, beautiful piece of art. I'll definitely go back to get glammed up for special events! read more

My first experience with the blow dry bar in Walnut Creek was a success, so with my big 30th birthday celebration coming up I decided to go back. I made an appointment for the day of the party, excited at the prospect of not having to stress out about or spend hours on my hair myself. I did watch videos online about how I wanted it so I'd be able to tell them what I wanted. The day of the party arrived and I got to my appointment on time and was introduced to my stylist. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and explained the style to her. When I mentioned that I didn't put a heat protectant in my hair yet and would like that, she said "oh that's ok." And still didn't spray anything to protect my hair. That should've been my first sign... I also asked her if we would have enough time to do the hairstyle/do that I had in mind, a classic fingerwave/pincurl 1920's faux bob. She said it wouldn't be a problem. She proceeded to curl my hair without pinning the curls, despite the fact that I told her my hair usually doesn't hold a curl. After she was finished curling (leaving visible strands of uncurled hair mind you) she started to roll up strands of hair and pin them, on nothing other than the strand itself. With any other kind of updo I've ever seen, had or done myself, I knew that you need to create a base to pin sections to. She did no such thing. Every strand was pinned to itself with a minimum of 4-5 bobby pins. 10 minutes later and all my hair was pinned up. With what must have been close to 25/35 bobby pins. It felt heavy, loose, unstable and not to mention the fact that all these bobby pins were poking in my neck! When I asked her if she thought this would stay her answer was "yes, just don't move your head too much." That's when I nearly started crying... which I did mind you, on the way home. Driving myself without being able to move my head from shear discomfort. I can't believe I paid for this. I should've refused to. The second I got home I undid everything, pulled all bobby pins out, rolled the bottom half into a bun and pinned the top half in the wanted style to the bun. Done, with how many bobby pins you might ask? The answer is 6, no more no less. Extremely disappointed in this experience. I could've done this better myself with help from a couple of YouTube gurus who would've walked me through it. I would've saved myself $50+ and most definitely a lot of frustration. read more

So I was scheduled 4 weeks in advance for my regular girl at a different salon for highlights and a cut, and she text me right before my appointment to cancel and wouldn't be able to see me for a couple of weeks I was super disappointed with the 4th coming up and I had lots of trips and events planned. Kate was able to squeeze me in on such short notice, she was so good and so quick with the amount of hair I have sometimes I'm in the chair for 5-6 hours! I brought my sister in to get her hair done for prom and her stylist Natasha could not have been more rude. Natasha did not style my sister's hair at all like the photo she showed. My sister proceeded to ask Natasha if she would mind redoing it at which point Natasha begrudgingly agreed. It still wasn't like the phot so my sister asked if she could just adjust a few things. Natasha proceeded to rip all the Bobby pins out of my sisters hair and abruptly said "goodbye" without fixing it or hair spraying it. The rest of the staff here are very nice and accommodating. If you go here avoid getting Natasha at all costs. So rude and not a good hair stylist. read more

I needed to get my hair and makeup done for a photo shoot with the family so I set up an appointment with BDB. Upon arriving, I was paired with a stylist (Rye) and I showed her the loose wavy beach curls that I wanted. She shampooed my hair and gave it a short massage too. The iPad was a nice touch to the place too so you have something to browse while your hair is being done. I love how the hair came out, wonderful job! It stayed for at least 8 hours (quite an accomplishment for my long, fine hair). Another girl did my makeup. It was not quite like the one I showed her, but of course I understand that they don't always have the same shades as what people want. Either way, the hubby loved both the hair and makeup. I liked the hair for sure. Great price and service! I'll def go back. Oh and of course, make an appointment ahead of time! UPDATE: Ashley was the name of the girl who did my makeup. I came back for a second time for a blowout and she did my hair. I'm not so satisfied with her work as she didn't get the volume I requested nor the style. I'd request for Rye next time. read more
