worst dining experience i've ever had, many of the servers just sat there on face time (they are younger) there was an older lady literally tiktok dancing and laughing obnoxiously. It took us forever to even have our order taken by the young girls and afterwards when we got our food, they literally just sat there and laughed and talked. Then the older lady had told them to vacuum underneath our feet and have us lift up our feet. I am not kidding when I say this is the worst dining experience I've ever had. It's a café. My husband and I have been coming here now going on 2 years at least once a month. It works out because we take our animals to groomers across the way! The staff and service here are just AWESOME!!! Food is always hot and delicious we always get our same meal and our waitress literally knows it by heart. Truly the nicest staff they make you feel right at home. Took the family here for breakfast. The cinnamon roll was delicious. I ordered the biscuits and gravy which were good, but cold. Our server was great, made sure our water and coffees were topped off without asking. Clean restaurant with local artwork for sale on the walls. read more

Much improved over the last few years I've maybe eaten here twice a year for the last ten years. At first it was pretty good, mostly dinner time. Meals were ample and tasty. Nothing fancy, but solid, diner food. Breakfast was fun, with emphasis on coffee and pancakes. Those were always quite good. And a huge menu. Lunch was burgers and sandwiches. Still decent without standing out. So a solid two to three stars. Service sometimes lacked, especially at night. Then they started closing early in the day. Things were still okay, but they seemed to be spending too much time on their other restaurants. (Other Sunrises, Biscuit and Hogs, Huck House) planning and opening. After Covid prices went up. But I've been in a few times. People seem happier, food seems better. Breakfast, lunch (stomp dinner). Had a great cheese omelette and burger the next week. Fries were fresh and hot. Seemed better than in the past. And it seems like they care. Check it out. Not perfect, but it's worth trying. read more

So I just had to leave this review on the breakfast place we go to in middleton... never going back there. My family and I were there about an hour ago. We went in for breakfast and we had our usual waitress. I can't remember her name but I believe she's the lead waitress and/or manager. I ordered the bacon avocado tacos that came with avocado on it. When I received my plate the avocado was VERY brown and mushy. I politely asked for another plate and she was back within 3 minutes, maybe even less. The plate looked as if the avocado was just scraped off as there was much less of it but there was still some on the other food items. I'll admit, I did complain to my husband. Again, I politely told her the issue and she immediately caught an attitude, grabbed my plate, and walked off calling me a "shithead". I heard her and got up from the table to walk outside as that had really upset me. As I was walking out, I heard her talking to her staff, complaining about me and calling me very bad names. Mind you she's saying this in font of customers as well. I can see the customers staring at her. That again bothered me so I approached her and said, "excuse me, I was not rude to you at all." As I tried to tell my side she just kept cutting me off and calling me a bitch.... so loudly that my husband came from our back table because he heard her. She kept shouting at me and calling me all kinds of names. Once I knew I couldn't get a word in, I made my way for the door. As that happened she proceeded to wave and say "bye shitty bitch! Bye!" She did this not only in front of other customers but in front of my kids and grandfather. My husband tried to pay for our food and she rejected him as well as my grandfather. We really enjoyed dining there but we will never be back. I'll never forget the looks on the other customers faces either as they had to witness this horrible behavior. By the way, I work in a restaurant. I myself am a waitress. I would NEVER be rude to wait staff or EVER treat any customer the way she treated me. read more

Great food. You will not leave hungry. Nothing fancy, just very good well prepared food. Service is always good. At times they get real busy and the staff is double timing their pace just to keep up. Even then, they are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend for an excellent down home meal and a great staff with an old time diner ambiance. read more

I just wanted to stop by here because I observed horrid behavior from the supervisor (blonde) on staff towards the rest of the staff and customers on the morning of April 22nd at the Middleton location. She said things like 'I'm your boss don't look at me like that' in front of customers, grabbed the check out of my hand and took my husbands card out of his when we were reviewing the charges. She was so rude to the junior staff and I will never be back because of her attitude. I hope someone deals with her immediately. read more

This review is for the Middleton location. Don't go there. Go to the Meridian location. 0 stars for Terrible customer service upon entering. No welcome, in fact avoidance. No smiles, in fact they all looked depressed or mad. Finally they told us to seat ourselves. We grabbed menus & silverware and sat ourselves. Once the server got to the table the demeanor did change to enthusiastic and engaging, kind and smiling. The kids that work here seem so sullen, no smiles, like they're depressed. So odd! We started wondering if we were in twilight zone - or some form of the movie Deliverance. Dirty bathrooms. 4 stars for good food and gluten free options. What is unfortunate is the history of this place and the philosophy on which it was founded. Founder Bob Godsill stated: "I don't have employees, I have family; I don't have customers, I have friends." Bob Godsill passed away into the Lords arms on Tuesday, December 20th, 2005 at the age of 66. To this day we strive to implement Bob's philosophy." Sadly, the Middleton location seems to have forgotten this. Our hope would be that these reviews would foster improvement and a desire to honor the founder's memory. Terrible, terrible service. Our first time was a year ago. Sat for 1/2 hr and totally ignored. The owner was sitting a a booth with her friends talking and laughing. When someone told her we were waiting for service she looked at us and kept talking. We tried again Sunday afternoon. Actually sat in the same booth. Totally ignored for 25 minutes. People kept telling us she would be right with us. When we got up to leave a very rude waitress walked by and said I don't care if they leave, if they are that impatient let them go. We come in, the sign says seat yourselves, so we almost sit at a stand-alone table, but see four or five booths in the back that are open, which we make our way to. But there are signs saying those booths aren't open for use, I assume it's because they're short staffed. This is fine, it's Sunrise. Being born and raised in Middleton, it's not my first visit, and I assume it'll not be the quickest service. We pick a table and sit down at 10:15 am. Our drink order is taken by Dianne (water for us all, I got a cup of coffee) and we also order our food. About 15 minutes later my coffee comes, and the waitress apologizes for the wait, saying it's on the house, which I thank her for. Fast forward to 11:45, when the waitress come back for the third time, having already apologized once before as well, saying that our food is "in line". I'm now upset though, as this was previously said, and I just don't believe her anymore. I point out the table we originally were going to sit at had two women at it, an elderly and middle-aged woman in a grey shawl, that have eaten, paid, and left. Dianne then states that it's not her fault and that our food should be coming soon. I get up and say "you know what? Don't even bother." The response from Dianne? "Wow. I was very disappointed with the service. I came in and was told to sit where i wanted. Since it was just me, i sat at the breakfast bar. 4 waitresses looked at me, no service. After 10+ minutes i get up to leave, without as much as a water or coffee. One waitress hands me a menu, as i am leaving. I told her it had been over 10 minutes since i sat down. Another waitress shugs and says sorry, very sarcastically. They didnt care!! And the place wa only half full. Dont bother stopping if you dont have all day. read more

I had been here several times and had good service and food that I enjoyed. On Wednesday 09/04/19 I suggested to our friends who were visiting from out of state to try the Sunrise cafe in Middleton. They are a Hispanic family consisting of a mother, father, son and grandmother and speak English well enough to get by. Before they received their food they were asked to pay the bill... Now I've been here at least 5 times and never been asked to pay prior to receiving my meal...and I am a 29 year old White guy... Its sad that we still live in a day and age where people are treated differently solely based on the color of their skin. I have been in the restaurant one time and will probably never go again. I also order takeout weekly but usually only breakfast. They lack customer service ALOT. The sad thing is it's one of the only restaurants in Middleton that is just down the street with pretty good food. The one time I went into the restaurant we waited over and hour for our food so we just ended up taking it home in a box. They were struggling and it wasn't really busy. One time I ordered fries through DoorDash and they were literally burnt. The times I have called and ordered food it usually take 15 minutes on a busy morning. But this is my first time calling at night and they answered and hung up the phone twice and then on my 5th call they answered and I said " are you guys not doing takeout?" and the girl says "yeah we are we're just busy and couldn't get to the phone" I said " ok because I got hung up on twice" and she said "oh yeah my busser doesn't know how to answer the phone". So that is my take on sunrise cafe management needs to step it up because clearly what is happening now is not working. So I actually waited to post this review because I hadn't gotten my food yet and I ended up with a hair in my sandwich and undercooked soggy fries. This cute little mom and pop cafe is within walking distance to my new place. That's the bad news. The good news? I can fulfill my craving for homecooked comfort food within a block at completely reasonable prices, lots of variety, friendly service, and by all appearances, a clean restaurant. Only one minor disappointment: I tried the homemade strawberry tart. The picture was better than the actual tart. But, pastries aren't everyone's forte. The rest of my meal was yummy and hot.
