They stopped me walking by on my birthday to give me free ice cream and a shot glass. We've come back everytime since and they have the best service. The owners are so sweet and the ice cream is the best!

Right off the strip in downtown St. Augustine is a little hole-in-the-wall ice cream shop. The Sweet Spot was one of the first places I ever tried a gourmet milkshake. The toppings were fun but so much we couldn't finish it. It also melted very quickly in the Florida heat. People say it is overpriced, but you get to keep the mug!

Milk & Cookies ice cream, it's delicious and absolutely huge for 2. Plus you keep the cool mug, 5 star!

Absolutely delicious ice cream!!! I had milk & Cookies, that came in a really cool glass mug you get to keep. All sorts of treats with the ice cream and worth every nibble on a hot summer day.

Delicious!.... just delicious!... so much fun!... my kids, my husband and I enjoyed every spoon. A sugars delight, it was not overwhelming which allowed to enjoy it till the end. Well served indeed. Located in a lovely area of the town, where we enjoyed a walk. Definitely worth the stop.

They do not know how to make milkshakes. We ordered a super milkshake and a regular milkshake. Both were poorly executed and and lacked the consistency of a milkshake. Person behind the counter even asked "How do you make a milkshake?" We will not be returning.

Nicely put together, friendly environment, and fast service. Although the toppings were stale and the ice cream tasted freezer burnt.

Had a chocolate shake. It tasted like plastic, I thought it might be the straw or cup. Not sure but it was disgusting.

The price is high and the ice cream lacks flavor. There are many other shops to get good tasting ice cream. This was not one of them.

Do they happen to have plant based options?

They have dairy-free chocolate chip. I had it, and it was good, albeit severely overpriced.

The milk shakes are standard, the fudge not quite on par, but the ice cream we had was pretty yum.

Cone Heads is located right on A1A Beach Blvd, just a block off of the beach. It is in a standalone building that is inviting with both colorful signage and plenty of outdoor seating. They also have a drive-thru and a private parking lot. When we visited on a Tuesday in July around 5:30 PM, we had no issue getting a parking spot. There were some other customers enjoying some ice cream, but there was relatively no line when we entered the store. The ordering happens inside, and you walk right into the ice cream cabinets and counter. All of the flavors are displayed and can be seen from the order line. Additionally inside, there are some tables to sit and eat at, along with a restroom. They sell a variety of merchandise along with their food and dessert selection. I liked seeing the community cork-board, where there were a variety of different posters and advertisements for events and services around the area. The menu consisted of traditional ice cream items one would expect - cups, cones, sundaes, banana splits, milkshakes, and more. They also had a Seasonal Special section on the menu, which I assume changes somewhat frequently. This trip, that item was a Donut Ice Cream Sandwich. There are some sundae combinations on the menu, but you can customize your own if you choose. There is hard ice cream, soft serve, and also some hot food options - hot dogs, sausages, and tamales, primarily. For drinks, they had canned soda, bottled, water, and some coffee options. As far as to-go, they had pints and quarts available for the ice cream, along with a freezer full of pre-packaged pints, quarts, and ice cream sandwiches for a grab and go situation. Having never been here before, our group needed some time to look at the menu and flavors before ordering. There were around 30 different flavors of hard ice cream, which included No Sugar Added and Dairy Free varieties, in addition to traditional full dairy varieties. I thought that the flavor selection was a healthy mix of traditional favorites and unique offerings. The staff working were friendly and helpful with answering all of our questions about the flavors. I even got to try a couple samples before making my decision. After much debate, I landed on trying the Donut Ice Cream Sandwich. This was made to order, and I got to choose the ice cream for the filling. I opted for the Kahula Chip for a coffee and donut flavor combination. I did enjoy this treat! The donut was fresh (and from a local spot), and the ice cream complimented it nicely. I thought the price was also fair for the size and specialty of the dessert, at $5.50 before any tax. My dog was waiting patiently in the car, so we ordered him a Doggie Ice Cream. It was a small boat of vanilla soft serve with peanut butter sauce and a Milk Bone. For my magnet collection, I also purchased one of their logo to take home with me. I personally did not pay the bill, but I thought the pricing here was fair and in line with any other similar type of shop. They took both cash and card. This shop is exactly what you would want out of an ice cream shop on the beach - fun, colorful, and local. They incorporate various other local businesses into their products. The theme of the establishment is appropriate for being a block away from the ocean, and there is a lot of color and fun decor to look at around the building. The staff were all pleasant, the product is tasty, and the price is right. Really enjoyed discovering Cone Heads on this trip, and will make sure to stop by again during my future trips to St. Augustine!

One would think there's not much you can do with a grilled cheese sandwich, but the Grilled Cheese Gallery proves that assumption wrong. There are 13 amazing and creative choices of grilled cheese here. Don't like grilled cheese? They also serve salads, poutine, mac & cheese grilled sandwiches, ice cream and other desserts. This is Comfort Food headquarters! There were actually so many choices it was hard to choose. I chose A Night in Amsterdam: Gouda, Gruyere, Swiss, Cheddar, on Artisan White. My wife had The Queen Brie: House cured bacon, French Brie, Raspberry Puree, Balsamic on Sourdough. My Amsterdam was quite a creation: three slices balanced on a pedestal with cheese trailing down more than a foot. It was delicious! My wife lauded her Queen Brie as well. We wish we had more time in Saint Augustine as this place is definitely worth a second visit.

We ordered: the Amsterdam, the Artist, the Queen Brie, and the Classic (2 sandwiches). Three of us upgraded to a small cup of tomato soup (each order comes with a mini cup for dipping). I was the lucky person who ordered the Amsterdam, which, much to our surprise and delight, was served on a hook with melted cheese stretching down to the tray it was served on. Everyone had to take a photo of my sandwich! It contained a variety of cheeses, so while the taste was fairly classic, it was a bit more nuanced than the Classic sandwich, which only had cheddar cheese. Everyone else thought their sandwiches were delicious too. And we all loved the homemade tomato soup! I tend to be a bigger fan of creamy tomato soups, but this one was rich with umami flavor and had a bit of a kick. While this is a counter-service restaurant that's pretty much no-frills, the employees were friendly and helpful. One of them refilled our water cups at the table, even though the pitcher she had was leaking, and I didn't get the sense that they normally did that. Sadly, they don't sell soft serve ice cream any more, but there are so many ice cream shops in this part of St. Augustine that you can easily walk somewhere else for dessert (which we did). The place wasn't crowded on a Friday evening and had lots of menu choices, so if you like grilled cheese sandwiches, whether creative or simple, be sure to stop by the Grilled Cheese Gallery on your visit to St. Augustine!
