The Taco Joint is located a few businesses away from Margaritaville, in the same building as the Hotel Sheldon. The Taco Joint has both inside and outside seating options, I always like getting a table outside to have great ocean and Broadwalk views. The restaurant has a full bar, I always opt for a bottle of wine at $23.00. For food, they have a decent amount of appetizers and entrees. We've been several times and always start with the chips and queso ($6). I think it's a little bit expensive for what it is and it's tastes ok, but nothing to write home about. For entrees on this visit, we ordered the steak burrito ($13) and the taco platter with 2 carnitas tacos ($10). The taco platter also comes with an elote, refried beans, and Mexican rice. Overall the food quality is ok, but a tad pricey for what it is. Service for the most part has been warm and friendly over the 4 or 5 times we have been there. $20-30 BUYER BEWARE. Absolutely no transparency. Went here for dinner tonight. Menu looked good, figured why not. Server was lovely, polite. Food good. Came fast. Asked for the bill. Another server came over with the payment device. Confirmed what we ordered, punched in and handed it to me to pay. Nothing else was said. No actual receipt/bill was given. I added an 18% tip. All good. Requested a printed receipt when prompted. Nothing. Did it a second time. Nada. Finally decided to have it texted to me. The $ amount seemed high, so l decided to look. Not only did the prices not match that of the menu, there was 20% gratuity already added (automatically). And I reiterate, the server made no mention of the automatic gratuity. So l basically gave a 38% tip. So wrong. I felt so cheated. Went up to the cash, and the server who took payment listened to my rant, then handed back my added tip. This was a little spot right off the beach which usually I am skeptical about but it was actually really good. I got a big coconut water served right out of the coconut. It was super refreshing on a beach day. You can also order a variety of mixed drinks out of a pineapple or coconut! The chips were super tasty, light, thin and crispy. Food was fresh, fast and tasty! We ate there twice as it was within walking distance to our resort. The first night I had the hard shell chicken tacos plate that came with 2 tacos, rice, beans and street corn. There was a ton of food for the price! Very delicious too! The second time I had the bean nachos and they were what you would imagine bean nachos to be. I was a bit shocked by the yellow nacho cheese since everything else seemed so authentic but still very good. We had a spectacular view, prompt, courteous service and deliciously tasty food. Hard to beat that combo, right? Seriously though, from the blue crab nachos (a meal in itself) to the tacos, we couldn't have been happier with our lunch. I doubt we could've filled ourselves up more than we did either though. We had both elected to try a blue crab taco after our nachos, and I made the additional selection of a mushroom taco, because my eyes are clearly bigger than my stomach. I really loved that mushroom taco, even better flavors than the blue crab, so definitely not a bad add. Now just roll me to the car.
