I love a good old ground beef taco and The Taco Project is serving up a most excellent one! Classic American style ground beef taco featuring a fresh made crispy corn shell, seasoned ground beef, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, and sour cream (2 for $8.45). A little greasy yeah, but in a good way, yeah you know what I'm talking about . This is what those "taco kit" tacos you make at home aspire to be! Lol. Have only eaten in never takeout (backyard and indoors) and my experience has been fine, in fact the staff is friendly and accommodating (not getting some of the negative reviews)... One visit the kitchen was backed up, the staff came around to all the tables apologised and gave everybody complementary chips and salsa and free drink refills. I think that's kind of awesome. Be kind, it's extremely difficult for businesses to survive in this pandemic. A small place not many tables indoors but they have a decent sized backyard. Not full table service. You order at the counter than you go sit and they serve you. If you want something else you gotta get up and order from the counter. No problem. I stick with the ground beef tacos but family has had chicken tacos and vegetable tacos and say they are yummy. Guacamole, salsa, and chips are fresh and delicious. Sidewinder fries are crazy good! This place was the WORST when it comes to customer service. i got here to pick up an online order at 6:20 and they said 10 minutes, it's been an hour and 4 minutes since they said that and the blond girl working here with a ponytail just comes up to me and tells me that the order I am waiting for IS NOT THEIR PRIORITY AND THAT IF I WANTED I COULD CANCEL. What kind of awful behavior is that? Such disgrace of employee to tell me that after I've been standing here for more than an hour. That is simply DISRESPECTFUL. I ordered 3 bowls from this location, asked how they were made, prepared and such...(I have some dietary restrictions) so needless to say after paying and getting in my car I opened the bag to find the food covered in many sauces and gluten (which I am highly allergic to) So I went back and explained what happened and asked for a credit since I actually couldn't eat the meals prepared. The girls there basically told me too bad, I just told her to keep the food and left. I will not be back and it's very disappointing that this was the way I was treated. read more

I come here every so often, very pricey. My past experience was terrible. I ordered two burritos. One was completely wrong and I went back and was nice about it just to change on what i originally ordered and the girl was a bit nasty. I also got over charged for a side of rice with not even a full scoop of rice in the bowl. Ugh, where do I start... Taco project is a fast food style restaurant disguised as a hipster "food truck" / taco stand. You place your order at a small counter, grab your drinks from a cooler and they bring out whatever is ready right to your table, which means that everyone seated gets their food at different times. Hot sauce are in packets like you would find at taco bell. Guacamole was stone cold which means it's pre made and stored within the fridge. I will say their corn was good though. I opted for a burrito bowl, again - if I got it at taco bell I would be happy. If you are alone and in the mood for Chipotle, salsa fresca style Mexican food give taco project a shot. I tried this location recently, after trying the Tarrytown location a few times over the years. It has been consistently bad. The shrimp burrito was so fishy and tasted really bad. I couldn't even eat it due to the strong fishy smell. I am wish the place was better since it's so close, but I'm just giving up on them. read more

After walking there in inclement weather to pick the order and even asking the person if the bag had the complete order And being told that everything was there in the bag I got home and found out they missed the burrito. Staff was friendly but.... Some constructive criticism.... Tacos should be smaller with less filling and less expensive. Or 3 smaller for same $$? Get rid of the shredded radish and mango toppings... too much. Just some raw, white onion and chopped cilantro, and Lime juice Mango salsa on fish or shrimp taco would be good instead of big wad of shredded mango. Mayonnaise on chicken taco??? Tacos should be simple, focus on slow cooking and seasoning. Key word, seasoning. You have to taste your food and season it. Train your cooks to season and taste instead of having them shred radish all day? Make salsa. Don't serve pico as salsa. Fry shrimp to order. Drain the meat a little bit when you scoop it. The food was very good. We had pork belly tacos, beef tacos, shrimp tacos and chicken salad. The service was awful. The staff need training in hospitality and customer service. Order took 20 minutes past quoted time for pickup and they weren't even busy. No apology or any acknowledgment that they were running behind. Then upon getting home they forgot part of order. Went back to pickup - again no apology, no smile, no offer to make it up to the customer. I understand people can have an off day but this was the whole staff. We had a classic burrito and a pulled pork burrito...we could not identify which was which because if there was any meat in either of them, we could not taste it!! It was all rice and a little bit of beans. As for the fish taco, it was AWFUL...the fish was supposed to be grilled but it was tasteless and appeared boiled. Spend your money elsewhere! Dedicated customer here for years. They mess up a few orders by giving me tacos with only shrimp - literally nothing else- sauces missing from other items several times but okay, it happens. I don't bother to complain. Uber Eats cancels my order so I call Taco Project and they tell me it's not their problem or my problem. Huh?Someone picked up the wrong bag (they have a place with all the bags with a sign to wait) and I need to reorder after waiting for over an hour. I wanted to come pick up my order and they literally said again it's not their problem or mine. Blame Uber Eats...well, I blame Taco Project for not having better customer service because it is our problem and I'm calling them to help me resolve it. Ive been here once before around a year ago and it was great but my most recent time was really unenjoyable. We got the steak tacos and the chorizo tacos. Let me start with the tortilla's... super dry, tasted so stale like they left it out for weeks. The steak was so tough and insanely over cooked. It had almost a weird film over it. The chorizo was insanely salty and dry, almost like they fried it then refried it again to serve. The ingredients were not fresh at all. Some of the worst tacos i have ever had. MISSING AND WRONG INGREDIENTS. This place needs some adult supervision... and maybe a chef. I ordered a chorizo taco that was supposed to have white onions, potatoes, cilantro, and radishes. It was just chorizo in a taco shell. The Classic Beef taco had wilted lettuce and was missing sour cream and Pico de Gallo. My son's pork belly soft shell taco was actually pork rinds, and the shell had a hole in it. We ordered "to stay", waited for a while, then they brought the food out in a bag. One girl told the other that it was supposed to be "for here". So she went in the back (presumably to put it on plates), but came back with the bag and a couple plates for us to make the food presentable ourselves...plus a bag of chips with no guacamole or salsa.
