Alejandro and Denise greet customers with a smile. I had the shrimp burrito (Camarones). The first time I ate it, it was the best I'd ever had. The second time I had it, it seemed to need more sauce. The staff was in training, so this may explain the difference between both times I ate it. I also had the Mahi Mahi Taco. It was very good. Their Mushroom taco and Nopal taco are interesting takes on the concept. Both are delicious. The food is not too spicy. I like a bit of fire; so if you do too, ask for the habanero sauce. This sauce has a lot of kick, so use sparingly. The tortillas are hand made on site as are the Churros. The churros are a delicious way to top off the meal. I've been here multiple times and have never been disappointed with this order -- mar y tierra fries and 1-2 shrimp tacos. You get SO much in the mar y tierra fries and it's beyond worth it! The steak and shrimp are so well flavored. Top it off with whatever salsa you want and lots of pico de gallo and you've got an amazing meal. The shrimp taco on the side helps to fill up whatever might not have gotten filled with the fries. If you want an extra not-painful kick to your food, get the habanero salsa! This spot is definitely experiencing some growing pains. I'm a huge fan of The Taco Stand and have been visiting their San Diego locations for years and must say, I am constantly impressed with their food. But the new location really misses the mark. First off, service is a bit rough. Unlike their San Diego locations, the employees were not very friendly. It took about 30 minutes to get two California burritos. I find that forgivable if the food is fresh and hot, but the tortilla used for our burritos was room temperature, and the fries on the inside of the burrito already cold, giving us the idea that they just let our order sit around for a while until they gave it to us. 2 visits in 2 days. During the 1st visit, I tried the Carne Asada and Al Pastor tacos. So tasty with the homemade corn tortillas! The steak was flavorful and tender. The Al Pastor meat is sliced from a spit and has great flavor and texture. So nice with the fresh avocado! They have sauces such as the Chipotle Mayo and Cilantro Mayo salsas that are to die for! The corn on the cob was also very tasty with the cotija cheese and chili powder. I really wanted to make a 2nd visit to try other menu items such as the nopal (cactus) taco. I wasn't sure what to expect but It was refreshing to eat. My son had the Al Pastor, mushroom and spicy shrimp tacos. The Al Pastor was his favorite. Don't leave without ordering the churros! They are the best! Nice light and crunchy outside with cinnamon /sugar. The lechera sauce makes it even better! Great neighborhood restaurant! Wooo, it just opened up maybe a month ago and it does get quite busy during lunch. I've been here twice so far and I do think they are pretty good. In comparison to other taco places I've had, this place is on par. How do I say, it's good and it meets my taco needs. They also have churros. The first time I came here, I was 3rd in line and it took about 15 minutes for the two people in front of me to get helped. I don't know if it was the cashier's fault or the fact that the lady was super indecisive. To be fair, the cashier was trying his best to take orders AND make the churros and call out the names. I ordered one al pasto and one chicken taco. Both were delicious and the flavors played together perfectly! I'd recommend both but I personally liked the chicken. Second time I came here, I order the quesadilla. AND PUT CARNE ASADA ON IT. So yes, you can add meat to your cheese quesadilla but just note that the price will double. The tortilla on the quesadilla was really good and soft and chewy. The even spread of cheese and meat in my quesadilla was pretty terrible to be honest. All the meat was in the middle and the cheese stopped about 2 inches from the edges. Came with guach, sour cream, and salsa. Very filling, I would share this by the way! Parking! EY! Had a bad experience with these guys a year ago, decided to give them another try....big mistake. Placed a delivery order, ordered the Mar y Terra burrito....but instead I got the Mar Y Terra fries. I made sure to confirm I placed the order correctly....yep, sure did and even the manager who I called confirmed the mistake. In addition, paid for multiple extra salsa and I got ZERO salsas. Reading other reviews (and mine from a year ago), why are there so many complaints about receiving NO salsa? This is clearly a management issue and 100% blame lies there...no excuse for this. I love this place. The food is delicious- especially their pollo asado burrito- the chicken is soooo tender. Better than any other chicken burrito I've ever had. Finally made it in today for lunch. I get a chicken burrito 99% of the time when I got to a Mexican joint as I try not to eat red meat. 9 times out of 10 I think "meh", but I love burritos so I continue to order them. The chicken burrito here was by far the best I've ever had. Yes, it's a simple chicken burrito and it's not like you can make a chicken burrito THAT good, but this one was pretty close. The chicken was charred upon ordering so it had a nice crunch to it and a nice charred flavor. Normally, you get chicken that's pre-cut and it's just scooped onto the burrito. Not here--which also meant it took a little while for my burrito to come, but it was not an unreasonable wait. I'm just used to burritos that are made in 10 seconds. I also like that the ingredients that are listed on the menu are actually the only ingredients that you get. Nothing worse than the surprise layer of X when you didn't think X was in your burrito cause you can't very well scoop X out of a burrito. Will definitely come back here when I need my chicken burrito fix. read more

Went inside to pick up an online order Sunday morning to only have an employee working in the front giving us attitude when all we asked is we're here to pick up our order. Once we got our order we asked for some salsa to go with our $20 order and lady rolled her eyes and looked upset to just give us salsa. I have been eating at the taco stand for about two years. I was excited for the orange location, but sadly I have been disappointed every time I have visited the orange location. The pastor wheel isn't appealing. The meat is dry and over cooked. The La Jolla Location is a 5 star and the meat is always fresh and the food is quality making it worth the price. The Orange location isn't worth the price. I won't be visiting this location anymore. I gave them three tries and sadly they're a one star location. We ordered the Sonora taco 10/10 definitely recommend the carne asada fries 10/10 and we ordered al pastor burrito and churros all 10/10 the portions are decent might be even good enough to share for two! Super cute location love the paintings inside definitely brings out the Mexican culture they even have beer on tap and bottled! They also carry the "Mexican cokes" which are glass bottle coca- colas. The salsas are really good too just be careful the red one is SUPER SPICY I believe it's called "salsa Macha" anyways overall definitely recommend this place read more

My husband and I were looking forward to eating here as we heard some good things about it. They took our order and we waited 30 minutes. We noticed that other people that ordered after us were getting their food. After 30 minutes, my husband went up and asked about our order and they said that they were busy and that it was being made. We waited another 20 minutes and went up to ask about the order again. They said they had lost the ticket and had not been making the order. We waited 50 minutes for an order that was never being prepared! There was no compensation for the food/lost ticket. We ended up asking for a refund on the meal as we never received it. The place had very poor customer service. Our expectations were high going in and now it will not be somewhere we plan to go back to. read more

It's my first visit here. I am by no means a taco aficionado but I do love a good taco. I ordered the chicken, steak and pork tacos. All three came out in a timely manner except they were all room temperature. Not hot not cold, just room temperature. So I'm not sure if that's the norm for this place. The mild salsa has a good smoky flavor to it. Hopefully they'll get some beer soon so when I come back I can add one to the mix. read more

I am SO happy a new local taco spot opened up in downtown orange. The inside is lively, vibrant and smells delicious! The boyfriend and I decided to order a variety of tacos (al pastor, chicken, and the spicy shrimp) the chicken was my boyfriends favorite, but the other two did NOT disappoint. I went simple and got the bean and cheese burrito, but don't let something so simple fool you. It was the most flavorful cheesy god of a bean and cheese burrito let me tell you! We loved everything about their food and decor. It also didn't hurt that they have a salsa bar with everything ranging from creamy salsa's to burn your mouth off habanero salsa. So, I have eaten at the Taco Stand four times now...and the first three times I ate there, I loved it. Their Al Pastor is fantastic. Their prices aren't great, but their tacos are generally good. That said...the pollo and al pastor tacos that I just bought were undercooked... There was a fair amount of raw, pink meat mixed in with fully cooked meat... All the people I saw working there were new and young, so it might be a new problem with the staff? Though looking through the reviews, I see that this has been a problem in the past. Also (and this is a minor point in comparison), the tacos were not consistently filled. Two of my three Al Pastor tacos had almost nothing in them. Again, it seem like this might be due to new workers that haven't been able to get down proportions yet...maybe? All in all, if you're charging this much for tacos, they shouldn't be under-cooked or skimpy. read more

I was so excited to see a The Taco Stand location open in my hometown after eating there in San Diego! It was some of the best tacos I had in a while, but my experience here was definitely different. We ordered the following: 2 al pastor tacos, 1 Baja taco, 1 Camaron taco, 1 pollo taco, 1 Sonora taco, and 1 al pastor burrito which was plenty of food for three people and came out to $31. The food took about 15 minutes, which is a little longer than I expected but they do make everything fresh so totally understandable. When we got the food, I double checked if everything was there and realized I was missing the side of guacamole from the pollo taco. I asked the associate who helped me if it was in there and they insisted yes, but it was missing. I went back and told them and the associate forcibly ripped my bag open and counted one by one all of the items in my bag. Clearly, the guacamole was missing but she did nothing to resolve that issue. It wasn't until another associate came over that I got what was missing. The reason I point this out is that she was so incredibly rude to my mother and I! To the point that we will not be coming back to support this business. When we got home, my family and I were really disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. Everything was bland, messy, and/or greasy. The al pastor looks nothing like the pictures and the chicken had zero flavor. There are too many great taco places in the area for the quality to be this low and for the service to be this bad. So happy that this place is within 20 minutes of home. I have gone to the Toco Stand in La Jolla many times and the Orange staff produced the same quality. Al Pastor is one of my favorite tacos and they do a great job with it. They have the vertical rotisserie with the pineapple at the top. Their spicy shrimp is great, as well. Their tortillas are amazingly fresh, since they feed the masa through a press. Get tacos here, then go to the numerous great bars for a drink. read more

Probably the best chorizo and beans burrito I've tried. I tried to order online during breakfast/lunch hours and it's not even on the menu. Called the phone # and they have easily the worst automated system I've ever heard, called 2x to speak to someone at the restaurant and nobody answers. Coupled with the fact there's virtually no parking when you go to this place and nobody answering their phone, this place is not really good at retention for their customers.
