It's always busy so be patient! There's no indoor seating, all outdoor since it's at the farmhouse collective. They have a self serve sauce and condiment bar so all you can get. Perhaps I expected more from The Taco Stand, as it was recommended by my friends. This tiny little restaurant is located at the Farmhouse Collective In Riverside on University Ave. It's really small inside and, with the little room they have and the workers grilling meats, it gets unbearably hot inside. With the grill radiating heat, it makes waiting inside very uncomfortable. Another thing that's a bit of an issue here is their menu board. The names are on a wavy metal, so if you're standing at the register to order, you can't read the actual names. You'd have to stand by the door to read it or take a photo first, and read from your phone camera. Something to mention is there is only one door for entering and exiting, which I'm sure is a fire hazard issue. You'll know what I mean when you go there. I was told their tacos were good so I ordered the Pescado (Grilled Mahi Mahi) and the Baja (Fried Fish) tacos. Both were mediocre to me. What I thought they did very well were the tortillas. While they didn't hold up well, they did taste good and fresh - like handmade tortillas. Back to the tacos: I added some salsa and even cream, but they lacked flavor. Either that or the flavors just didn't compliment one another. At this point. Rubio's might be a better option for their original fish tacos. I figured it may just be because I didn't order a meat taco. Well, I had a piece of their bean and cheese burrito but I've definitely had better. After all the hype I really expected to be blown away by their food. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out from our experience that would warrant waiting in the long queue. I'll be honest, we only went here because there was not a line. We got 2 asada and 2 al pastor tacos. Once you order they give you a number and you wait to be called back. There is one entrance in and out which is horrible considering how busy they get. The salsa bar is located to the left of the entrance and gets busy. The asada lacked flavor, but the al pastor was good. I have heard a lot of talk about their salsas and not to toot my own horn, but mines better. Maybe.. there are better items on their menu, but I feel like the taco will tell you a lot about an establishment. I would give them another try, but not if it means waiting in a long line and fighting to get in the door. The burrito is pretty big so although it is 4$ for a taco the portion of the burritos are worth it in my opinion. The tacos are pretty good as well, and the meat is great as well. First time trying The Taco Stand and while there were definitely some good things, it didn't quite win me over for the price. The mar y tierra fries were great and I really appreciated the homemade tortillas. We visited on a busy Saturday afternoon and unfortunately they had already run out of both al pastor and churros, so we only tried the carne asada tacos and the mar y tierra fries. The carne asada had good flavor, but the quality was a bit inconsistent. A few tacos were good and a couple were dry. I was excited to try this new taco spot at the Farm House and had a solid experience! Got the California burrito and the Mar y Tierra fries and both were great. Their portion sizes are very generous. I was easily able to share the burrito with my wife and we had a good amount of fries left over as well and we were stuffed! The burrito was really good but the highlight for me was the fries. The shrimp on the fries was awesome and the seasoning was really good. They don't skimp out on the ingredients, portion or the guac. Everything tasted fresh too. Be prepared to wait in line however, we waited for about 15 minutes and an additional 15 to get our food after ordering. A group of people also cut in line in front of us with their friends so that was a bit of a bummer too. This new spot is at The Farmhouse Collective in Riverside think Anaheim Packing District but mostly outdoor dining, less cramped and better vibes IMO. This Taco Stand location is small inside with no indoor seating but there's plenty of outdoor seating. The menu and pricing mirror their San Diego and OC locations and are honestly such a good deal for fresh, non-fast-food Mexican. If distance and convenience weren't factors, I'd choose this over Chipotle any day. Everything we ordered hit. Baja Taco (sub corn for flour and thank me later) - A solid Baja taco. Not the best I've ever had but if it's on the menu, I'm ordering it. California Burrito - Under $11 and incredibly filling. Steak was cooked perfectly. Would absolutely get this again especially paired with their creamy salsas. Mar y Tierra Fries - We tried the carne asada fries on our first visit and were blown away by how addicting they were. The fries remind me of Taco Bell's nacho fries, but 10x better. The shrimp was a nice touch, but I'll probably stick to carne asada next time. Churros - So good. Perfectly crispy with just the right amount of dough. Served warm and still crunchy even 20 minutes later. Overall, the food quality, pricing, and consistency are commendable. Wow is what I would say with the food from Taco stand. It's worth every penny and every minute of wait. We went to see our son in Riverside and he took us there for lunch. Had to wait almost 25 mins to order food and 15 mins more to get the food. Bu when you take the dirty bite of food you know it's so worth it. We ordered el pastor burrito and a mushroom burrito with three different types of taco and a portion of churros with condensed milk. Omg it was so much food for dirt cheap price. So filling. The place is located in a nice farm house kind of a location. Great vibes and some great food stores nearby too. Evening if you go they have live music everyday too. Fun place. Vegetarians have limited options but they do have it. Also the salsa and sauce is so so good. Please visit guys. Wish you had a store in Bay Area too. I came here once with a friend and she introduced me to their California burrito, and let me tell you, it was SO good that I came back again a couple days later. The second time it was packed, but honestly it was still so worth the wait. The steak is perfectly seasoned and cooked, super flavorful and tender. The tortilla itself also tastes really good and fresh, which honestly makes a huge difference. I genuinely think this is the best burrito I've ever had. It's a really good size too and I definitely went into a full food coma afterwards. Tried going during their soft opening when they were giving out free tacos/burritos. The line was insane. But I might have first tried them in Orange some years ago? And then more recently in Convoy, SD. Love that Riverside gets the first Taco Stand location in the IE! They are delish and reasonably priced!! Everything was I believe less than ~$11. I personally love the Mar Y Terra. Both the burrito and fries forms are superb! Love the sauces and guac! So yummy and the abundant shrimp! I also like the carne asada more than the al pastor. The latter was more crispy. Hubby liked it though. My fav's the cilantro sauce. The churro is surprisingly thick and cake-y! Not my jam, but again, hubs loved it since it reminded him of a sugary, cakey donut. It wasn't as crispy either but I appreciate their style. And the condensed milk sauce was good! Jamaica was refreshing! They gave us free drinks and an extra churro?! (maybe it was just one, but there's a lot) So nice of them. I gotta try their tacos next time and veggie options! Cons: This location is very tiny. I wish they had a bigger spot. Lines go out the door very easily. They even have to go outside, call out names for orders, sometimes the staff was even taking the orders out to people. Also, it didn't seem like they had all sauces available like at Convoy. First I wanna say that I have been here before and it was great, but the attitude and organization of this store has major issues. Me and a friend arrived around 12:10 ordered by 12:15-20. After 20 minutes of seeing basically no movement I went inside to find the entire team focused on getting pick up orders done when they had at least 3 orders just placed after mine. [and two of those people got their food before me and my friend] I got the same exact thing this time but the effort and tone of my meal was completely different. The cashier was rude when we got in and clearly has an unwarranted issue with the black community because everyone else that came through while I was inside was helped right away. Her name is Maddie or at least that's what they said, she has a half sleeve and dyed hair and her attitude is so terrible I could feel it the moment I tried to order. I can only assume that whatever disgusting bias this place holds that it was communicated amongst the staff because I had to go inside after 30 minutes and sit and stare at them to even start my order. They completed it within 5 minutes once I was inside and these pictures are a result. Also the owner or manager needs to revise what they give priority too. You are a prime location, and you focus more on the people who aren't even there than the customers waiting? Terrible management decision. He was also seen picking things off the floor without gloves and continue on without washing his hands. This is a good spot as long as they stop acting like people can't tell the rude faces and body language your staff has. If you're black, I would think twice about going to this place, it is a decent meal but not worth the microaggressive mistreatment. I have worked in service, I have managed in restaurants, for anyone who hasn't done that some of this may not seem like a big deal but the bad service and poor quality presentation due to the fact they put our food on pause. When I learned that this place has multiple locations it was an absolute game changer! We frequent the Costa Mesa location just about every beach trip, but we come from east or Riverside. Randomly, I was on the website and learned of the "oh soo many locations" that are the same business! This particular location is located in the "Farm House" just outside of UCR. I imagined it def being busy and was not wrong! Cute location with multiple businesses to visit. It is a walk-in and order, take your buzzer and retrieve your order after it alerts you. Now - here's my reason for the "4 stars" & not 5... After ordering (and if it's busy) you have to maneuver through the crowd of people to get your beverage filled, to get your "condiments " salsas, then squeeze or dance thru the 1 door you enter & exit thru that the line to firms through, so it's not an easy maneuver. My next reasoning was the churros- we've had them at the other location & since we are bringing honest here, they were 1 bit fully cooked, not close to having enough cinnamon-sugar , and the dipping sauce was very watery. At least from this location and time if getting them. But that's why the 4 & not 5. We ordered along with the churros, ; the California Burrito The contents are; steak asada, guacamole, pico, French fries, cheese, salsa & sour cream. The meat bites were not to chewy, juice my and tasty it all compliments another well. The fries give it a great taste and the tortilla isn't dry. We topped it with 1 of their sauces which is the chipotle sauce. They do have a nice selection of different sauces/salsas, likes, onions etc. beverages are Coke products and did not see at this location you can purchase alcohol. Outside they have tables just out front where you can sit, eat, enjoy the vibe. You can hear the music from the back entertainment area. The misters were on since it was a warmer day.
