Love the Fish. Service is always fast and friendly. Food and drink prices are resonable. While the menu is standard bar food, sometimes on Saturday and Sunday they have food specials that have a more formal dinning feel. They have an outside patio which is great when the sun comes out. read more

Nice little dive bar. It is the kind of place that has mugs with the names of all the regulars hanging from the ceiling. Cozy, with lots of booth seating in addition to the bar seats. The bartender was friendly and came to our table a few times to ask us if we needed anything.There is a patio out front, but since I am not a smoker and it was very smokey, I didn't go out there. The prices seemed low, but maybe I'm just used to paying way too much for drinks in San Francisco! Recently went here for the first MNF game and it was there first time being open on a Monday. We were actually on our way to Goofy's but out of chance decided to pull up and see if they were going to be open for the season. To our surprise they were about to open. The bartender (Nick, I believe) invited us in and was very friendly, most places give you the stink eye when you try to come in before opening. I ate their basil balsamic burger special and it was delicious! The bar food was really tasty and the menu has a great variety of selections! Ive had the pizza which is consistantly good and Ive had the steak which was cooked to perfection but I think the fish tacos are my favorite. This is a great local sports bar. It's pretty close to where my boyfriend and I live, so we come here fairly often for a cider and to watch the game. The guys who work here are awesome. They are all suuuper nice, which is saying something given how annoying many of the regulars are that frequent this place. They are incredibly tolerant. Seriously. The food is decent bar food. I am a sucker for the fried chicken and waffle fries. Their camarones are pretty good too. My boyfriend loves the Baja burger and there's a steak sandwich that's really good too. Overall, this place has amazing service, the food is decent, and they have plenty of tv's to watch the game on (my only complaint is to fix the speaker that doesn't work. Cool hangout, food is great (really missing those onion rings and jalapeño poppers), and the bartenders are awesome. Never much liked waiting for the pool table or ending up having to play doubles. Shuffle board was nice, but it's a short table. Sometimes parking was hard to find, but that was only when I went at like 5. If I could give Big Nick 5 stars I would! All the bartenders are friendly, but I thought he was the best. Also - don't accidentally drop a glass and slice your thumb open over the shuffle board then proceed to try and clean it in the bathroom only to decide that going to the ER is better. Great neighborhood place. Friendly barkeepers and servers. Can be loud, but it's a happy loud. I don't drink and can no longer eat beef, but still like The Thirsty Fish. There's a good food selection nicely prepared. Any dish with the grilled chicken breast is delicious... I'm particularly into the Chicken Bacon Ranch Salad which is a meal in itself. I've been going to The Thirsty Fish for years, but NEVER COMING BACK. About a year ago, someone took a magic marker to the Women's bathroom sign, obliterated the W and the O and then declared it fair game for men. There's no other way to describe this then to say that men PISS all over the toilet seat and floor. They use this bathroom even when the bathroom that is still labled the MENS bathroom is available. Tonight, a man threatened to assault me when I asked why he couldn't use the actual MENS bathroom. If you're going to change it up with Unisex bathrooms at least update the signage. The reality is that some males enjoy pissing all over a toilet seat and floor, knowing women will be subjected to their nasty, passive aggressive behavior. So just imagine walking through urine and tracking it all through a restaurant where you're going to dine. Or perhaps they piss on the door handles and their penises and don't wash. And yes, Lou (the owner) I'm contacting the health department. read more

Nice decor - clearly some time and money was spent making the place visually appealing - but that doesn't make up for the overpriced drinks and sub-par food. Also, our server was weirdly cagey - almost combative - with us. We ordered a couple beers. They weren't topped off. And for $6? Nope. Ordered some wings, but they were almost all gristle and breading. Just nasty. Charged us for extra dipping sauce. When it was time to pay the bill, we put our card in the folder and our server assumed it was cash, so we sat there forever waiting while he and a coworker just stood around. This is one of my favorite places to hang out and have fun with friends. The staff is friendly, engaging, and happy to change a TV to hockey for me when there is a game on. The patrons tend to be friendly and social and it's a good atmosphere all-around. There's always a great selection of beers on tap and a great selection of liquors as well. I'm eagerly looking forward to better weather so that I can enjoy the deck! If you're a Seattle foodie, you should adjust your expectations before you go - the food is standard, decent pub fare. I was happily surprised with the quality of this place! We moved into the neighborhood a month ago and have had our eye on this place since, and finally decided to try it out. I can say with confidence that we will be back! My fiance ordered the steak salad, which came with a full piece of steak on top of a crisp, fresh lettuce salad, that was fully mixed and dressed before being brought to the table. The steak was cooked slightly under the asked medium rare, but the quality and seasoning was good. I ordered the Buffalo Blue Chicken Burger, and it was awesome! I'm a big fan of buffalo sauce so I knew I had to go for this when I saw it. The combination of buffalo sauce with blue cheese crumbles was a perfect match, and complemented the moist, perfectly cooked chicken that was on the burger. We split honey walnut prawns as an appetizer, and they were amazing! Much better than panda express. They tasted very fresh, and seemed to be made in house, not a frozen microwave type. All in all this place killed it and we will definitely be coming back! read more

I have been by, and stopped by, Thisty Fish quite a few times on weekends and have noticed that the hours of this establishment are odd to say the least. When football games are going on at 10 a.m. on a Saturday or Sunday they are not open, I drive by again at 3 p.m. and they are still closed. Why are you not open when there are games on??? Calling yourself a "sports bar?" What gives?? It's more like they are a "we'll be open after 4 p.m. when 99 percent of the sports action is done bar." I have tried several times to go here on the weekend to see bowl games, pro football but they don't seem to be open. (They were open early for the Seahawks game this weekend..btw.) I usually don't give up this easily but I think I will skip this place. Judging from some of the reviews they need to adjust their attitude a bit. read more

This is Ballard and we Ballardites can totally hang with pub food, but it'd better be good pub food. Every single thing we tried VERY clearly came out of the freezer. Wings, burger, fries, generic-off-the-shelf (not even refrigerator shelf) Ranch dressing... I hope the owners will rethink their approach to their food- and QUICK. I'm a small business owner, so I know the trial-and-error and working out the kinks phase, but I'd rather see them working out the kinks on food they make themselves rather than trying to perfect something out of a bag. If I'm paying you $9 for a cheeseburger, you'd better take some queues from the plethora of good burger places in Ballard and give me something that makes us both proud! Will I go back? YEP! So I went here with about 4 friends, I cannot review the food as it never got that far. We came in, and were able to get our beverages ordered, which came up to around $25. We were waiting for a fifth friend, who showed up about 5 minutes after we got our drinks, but the server never came over to ask if they wanted a drink, in fact, we sat around for about 45 minutes before we actually had to get up and find the server. He had gotten comfortable at a booth with some friends of his, and completely forgotten that we were there, even though there were only 2 tables of people (us included), and 4 people sitting at the bar. After this 45 minute mark, we realized that he was far too busy with his friends to bother getting us any food or our fifth person a beverage, so we decided we would take our business elsewhere. One of our group went to his table, waited politely for 2 minutes (We timed it) for him to stop talking to his friends (our friend was standing in front of the server while he waited), politely said "hi, excuse me but..." and was then cut off. The server put his hand in front of our friends face, said "one second." then continued his conversation with his friends for another almost 2 minutes, all the while with our friend standing there confused and waiting. The server then got up, walked past our friend to the bar, and filled some drinks for some other customers. After this my friend was finally able to get his attention, told him we wanted our check, and we were finally able to leave. The food never happened, the drinks were okay, the service was completely non-existent/rude/inconsiderate/offensive. Needless to say, neither I nor myself will ever be attending this place again. There wasn't a game on, it wasn't busy, and there was no excuse for the disgusting behavior of the server. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. read more

Extensive selection of brews, fresh and tasty salads for the lighter fare or killer burgers for hearty appetites. My go to is the Caesar salad with chicken which has always been superb. This is by far my favorite bar. The owner is the nicest guy you will ever meet, who will bend over backwards to make sure your time and money is well spent. His ability to remember your face, your friends, what you eat, and what you drink is uncanny. The food is definitely well above par for a bar(best stuffed jalapenos on the planet), and the crowd is really awesome. He has created a very good community feel to the place that feels more like an invite to his house, rather than a place of business. Which for me is a must in a bar. I hate the cold feeling most have. The only thing I could even remotely consider a con, is that it only has one pool table. But the one he has is nice, almost always open for a game. The best part though, is that as a person who doesn't drink anything alcoholic(10+years without a drink) i don't feel like some pariah here. I checked it out and was very impressed. The menu is traditional bar type food. (burgers,pizza,nachos,salads ect..). Meal portions seemed rather large and I took some home for next days lunch. The new owner's were very nice and personable. Price points were very good for what you get in return, I would recomend this place and I will be going back again.
