Came here couple times before when it was Marx Pioneer Inn. It changed owners and brand several…read moreyears ago. We came because I had heard that they had good brisket. And they were right about that. Its essentially a older home that was converted to a restaurant many years ago. Inside there is a large bar, a dining area (mostly tables for 6), and an outside patio area. The place looks a bit in disrepair (the front porch does not give a great impression), and could really use some TLC. Outside in the back is a volleyball court, kids playground, and a bar. Came on a Saturday night, around 7pm. There were a handful of people around the bar, and a couple of small groups of diners. Got seated right away. Server got to us right away, but then the service for the rest of the evening was excruciating slow (and inattentive). We ordered a Sangria and Beer. Apparently the sangria is not on the menu, but they did a good job of making one up. We got served in plastic cups, but saw that others were drinking out of glass (should we have had to ask?). Ordered the Brisket Sandwich and the Pub Burger. Both came out relatively quickly (although they were waiting a while for the server to bring them to us). Both sandwichs were very good. The burger was flavorful, and hot. The sidewinder fries were also hot and well seasoned. The brisket sandwich was excellent. Couple of slabs of moist brisket, with a nice fat cap. The sweet potato fries were ok, but over seasoned. After we got our food, our server was MIA. Never came back to ask how things were, and we had to flag them down to get our check. (they were chatting it up with some other employees near the kitchen). In short, the food was very good. But the atmosphere and the server have a lot to be desired. This one did not make my "got to come back to" list.

When I got home and discovered my beans and mac and cheese were not in the bag Otis drove them right over We tried everything on the menu except the 2 things you have to order in advance. I loved the sausage and mac and cheese and the beans are amazing! The slaw was good but needed salt and the pork and chicken were moist and flavorful. Very good and the only good BBQ in the area. I would skip the peach cobbler next time. Not inly was it too sweet( not something I ever experienced before) But it was just a wet sloppy mess when we tried it to go. There was no cobbler part to find from the steam I guess. Should be refrigerated before putting in a container.

Lovely people, but this is the worst barbecue I've ever tasted…read more I ordered a brisket plate and literally every piece was 50% fat. Not marbled fat - just a big ol' fat wad accounting for 50% of the slice. The non-fat 50% was as dry as boot leather. Ridiculous. Your rub should not be "black pepper, and more black pepper, and more black pepper." I like black pepper as much as the next guy, but I've never had as much in my mouth as this place offers. The owner told me he came up from Texas. My guess is he was banished for crimes against meat. When ordering a plate, you get two sides. Cornbread is not an option. (Weird.) I got peach cobbler and it was fine. Cole slaw was okay, but lacking seasoning. Mac and cheese was not my cup of tea, but it wasn't inedible. It's fitting that Big O's is in the same building as a funeral services company because this is the place where barbecue comes to die.

I was on the area and I saw this new food cart so I stopped by to check it out. Is a bbq cart that…read moreoffers rib tips, dogs, brats, chicken and burgers with a side of beans or corn on the cob. Well I'm definitely doing the rib tips but it was too early because they just went on the grill, see my pictures so I would have to stop back later in the day. 3 hours went by so I went back and asked if he still had some rib tips left and he said yes so I'm down with that. He is there Tuesday to Saturday 10:30 to 4pm he says. The rib tips looked amazing on the grill and I took a picture so you could see the before and after pictures of the cooked rib rips. I ordered the meat only for $10 because the sides didn't interest at all and did my car smell so good so I pulled over because I couldn't wait to try them. The rib tips had a nice looking bark that was seasoned nicely and tasty I thought. The rib meat had that little chew that I like because I don't like the mush fall off the bone meat. The rib tips were meaty and not all cartilage with most of the meat chopped off like some places. The meat was very tasty with that bark and a deep grilled flavor that I really liked, like a backyard bbq. I really like that he uses charcoal to cook his food because it's so hard to find places that cook with charcoal anymore and he seems like a like a really nice guy and he let me take my pictures which helps his business. I didn't even use the bbq sauce because the meat stands on its own by the way. There is no bbq in the immediate area that I can think of so this is a nice addition to the neighborhood if your looking for some tasty rib tips here you go. I would definitely go back for some rib tips again because as much as I like ribs I do like doing tips from time to time.
