Being a local, I almost want to selfishly not write this--it's one of the best places in the Morongo Basin. Ambiance To say the least, it's eclectic, if you like that kind of vibe, you'll love this place. It has numerous velvet paintings on the walls, and one that stands out: crying Elvis! Now that's class! It used to be a gun store, literally, and the bars on the windows are still there. Looks like nothing from the outside, it's next door to a tile/granite store, but inside it's wonderful. Service Outstanding. Even when busy, they really take care of you. There's a water jug and cups for customers to serve themselves, but they usually give us the first round when we arrive. The wait staff is knowledgeable and very down to earth kind. Food Again, outstanding. The chef/kitchen take great pride in what they serve. We've enjoyed the steak, scallops, salads, burgers, wild boar sloppy joes (not gamey-delicious!!) and the loaded Yuca Fries. Those fries are amazing, comes with your choice of sauces, but you can get both. I've only had one issue here in at least ten visits, a cold sloppy joe. When I told the waitress about it and said that they could just nuke it, she replied they don't have microwaves, so let me see what I can do. Within minutes the chef himself came out with a freshly made piping hot replacement, and said he was sorry, that's not how we roll--if you're ever unhappy, let us know. How often does THAT happen--the chef himself comes out? Very impressive. Drinks: Huge selection of beer, wine and hard liquor, all reasonably priced. The drinks range in strength, sometimes they're pretty stiff but if that's your thing a great value. So glad that this place opened up, we'll return again and again! So, it is not like the pictures. There's a tiny store front with bars on the window, which is understandable for this area. When we walked in, it was way more of a dive bar atmosphere than we expected. It was like they started off classy, but then kind of forgot about that along the way. Burger was not the best, "caramelized" onions were hard and not good, bun was not even toasted, so for $15 without the $9 dollar gross French fries that looked and tasted two days old I would say not worth the money or the hype. Again, the location and staff and vibe are awesome but I would not eat there again based on my experience - there was no love on my plate and for the price, I would ask the owners or even whoever cooked my food, "are you proud of this? The business model works great for them but, as a local looking for something beyond Mexican food and fast chain restaurants, we decided to take the family out to try The Tiny Pony. Online and reviews raved the food, and average rating of 4.2 being something different let's try it... I will mention we've heard it's pricey but decent place. We sat down excited to see a beer menu maybe some drinks and definitely have to try the cuisine. First drinks let's have a beer, limited craft menu with all the commercial regulars as anywhere still prosper than most places too. Second drink an alcoholic drink from the bar, won't say which but the glass it came in was market as 12oz, but being a frozen drink it ends upcoming in around 10oz or less, definitely sad on the drinks. Looking at the menu we noticed it's pretty limited, ok that should provide consistency, but none of the sandwiches and burger options (simple) came with fries! Ok so a la carte, throw on an order not bad right? The simple menu and flavor shows it follows the American food system of the Sysco distribution food system famous for price gouging! The chicken sandwich was good, so is Popeyes... the burger was ok, plain, and slightly beefy in flavor, the chicken wings were so petite it takes four for a mouth worth chewing (they come 6 piece or 12) garnished with three maybe four small dry celery sticks, no fries. Then the fries! Granulated seasoning with good flavor but large crystals and peppercorns that should've been ground to be palatable, under the seasoning is an average fry very comparable to Carl's Jr fries. (Actually better) Worst part I could taste the freezer burn on the fries and half of the chicken sandwich was tendon. In all I paid slightly over a $130.00 usd and left hungry. read more

I was excited to try this spot as there aren't a lot of options in the area. The place didn't have a lot of people and the service was still incredibly slow. We ordered popcorn to snack on while waiting for the food and it came out with the entrees about 1.5 hours later. I can't wrap my head around any reason the food service would be so slow when it wasn't busy (week night) and there was no warning about extended wait times. My burger was comparable to In-n-Out in size and quality, but 3-4x more expensive. The hamburger patty is a small in size and served without fries or a side, just a pickle. I was still hungry but didn't want to wait to order something else or pay that much for another small burger so I ate something after leaving this establishment. Awesome spot! We were looking for burgers, and we found this spot it was delicious, so were the fries. The drinks were really good too! We ended staying for karaoke, the server provided great service she was really nice, the ambience was so vintage, there were pictures of all animals, our favorite was the white cat. It was nice and cold in there. They have an outdoor spot where Jenga game is available, and cornhole I believe that's what it's called. Pool table is inside. It is pet and family friendly. I was very excited to try The Tiny Pony after seeing some of the good reviews. Unfortunately, during my visit yesterday, 5/27/2022, the food and service was pretty bad. While I don't mind paying $15 for a burger if it tastes really good, as I've been to many smash burger places like Easy Street Burgers, Goldburger, Burgers Never Say Die, etc., and they were all cheaper and better than this place for a double cheeseburger, but this burger lacked flavor, was not a smashed patty, and tasted pretty basic overall. However, the worst part was the service because we ended up being overcharged by about $7 and when I tried to seek help I was ignored or given responses that showed a lack of care for the customer. The one thing I will say is that the indoor design was pretty cool, especially by the bar area.
