Came here for lunch and it's a pretty no thrills restaurant! I got the breakfast burger which was really tasty and delicious but doesn't come with fries. My friend got the chicken sandwich and complained that it was mostly breading and a little dry. We ended up getting fries on the side and they were really good! Recently spent some time at a rental in the desert. Of all the places we tried, Tiny Pony was my favorite local eatery in the area. Fantastic bar, excellent food, laid-back vibe and just good hospitality. We initially came in for lunch then learned that they had their prime rib special that night so we decided to come back after a supply run so we can get an order of the prime rib to enjoy at the rental later in the evening. Ever had a plate of chicken bones hit your chair and just chill there while you eat? Yeah... not exactly appetite inducing. We came to The Little Pony in Yucca Valley and had one of the worst service experiences I've had. We seated ourselves and after a bit a waitress came and took our food order but didn't offer water or ask about drinks... We had to track her down just to order a beer, never got water and I kept trying to get someone's attention for a Diet Coke and even a refill. She never came back to check on us. At one point she dropped a plate of chicken bones that hit my chair, said "oops sorry," as she walked away leaving it on the floor next to me. No follow up, no real apology. Later when we tried to find her, the server helping our table (short blonde hair with grown out roots) said "not my table" with attitude and walked away. Another guy eventually stepped in but it took about 10 minutes for him to even come over and by then we had already been waiting close to 30 minutes just trying to get the check! When we asked, that's when he said he was our server and gave us 10% off. The place is supposed to be LGBTQ+ friendly but we definitely didn't feel that way during our visit. I get places get busy, but this just felt messy, careless, and unprofessional. Definitely not somewhere I'd go back to. read more

This place is located on the 29 Palms Hwy on the way to Joshua Tree. Stopped by to grab a bite after driving from NorCal. Ordered the Tiny Pony burger and a mango cart (which came canned). The TP burger came with fries and pickles on the side with a choice of sauce which I chose the jalapeño cilantro ranch. FIRE. If you've seen my reviews, I've been trying a whole bunch of smash burgers and this one was pretty good imo! Comes with 2 smash patties so it essentially felt like eating a regular but crispy patty burger. It had the chipotle aioli in it which made the burger also good, but what made it even better was adding the jalapeño cilantro ranch to it! Holy damn that was good. The fries were oooookay, I'd skip unless you need fries with your burger. This place looks like a great hang out spot to get drinks, they had a pool table and also a photobooth. It was like 90° and they allow dogs which are usually in the outdoor patio seating, but they let us stay indoors as long as the dog is well behaved and doesn't bar which he doesn't rly bark. As far as service, you seat yourself to a table. Although booth tables are reserved for parties 4 or more. Our server was nice and friendly, checked in with us just enough times. Parking is in a small plaza area so it should be okay, nothing too difficult. read more

The speakers were blasting new wave punk. The crowd was dressed very fresh, like they were casting for a movie. However, we were all sweaty and dressed in hiking gear, like we just climbed some rocks. The service was very slow and the food was expensive, the menu limited and portions small. A+ for the aesthetics, B- for the food. For the weary traveler: if you are hungry and in the area and looking through Yelp for food options, you're better off going to Applebee's down the road. Such a great stop! Would have easily driven by it if it weren't for a recommendation. Good for drinks and delicious food! It's a locals spot for sure, but we weren't made to feel uncomfortable or out of place. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you stop here! I get that the place was hopping and the ambience was great. The food very much mediocre.

For some reason, in whatever I was looking at, this was flagged as a queer/gay bar. I think it's because some nights, they have drag. But we came in on a Friday night, and it was not the queer vibe. Felt like your typical sports bar with food. They had a bball game playing on the screen which, given my exhausted state, drew my eyes there and made me sort of zone out (because, bright and shiny and things moving on it lol). It felt...very straight. I'm honestly not sure where I saw that this was flagged as a gay bar, and maybe it's gayer during drag nights. Service was friendly, and maybe next time we'll try the food (which looks good) or sit at a table, but I think given the expectations, we were a bit disappointed that there wasn't even nary a rainbow flag to be seen. So, I don't even know where these expectations came from, and it might be an unfair one, so I'm still giving this place 5 stars. We recently moved my mom to Yucca Valley. She lives right down the road from the Tiny Pony. And we couldn't be happier about it. The staff is always great. Upbeat positive helpful. The food is spectacular. We haven't had one bad meal from there. From the chicken wings to the burgers to French toast and breakfast sandwiches. All amazing. They make a fantastic drink. All and all truly enjoy our experiences together there. read more

I'd rate it about 3.5 stars. It was decent for what it was in the area. It was very busy on a Saturday night, but we managed to get seated within 20 minutes. Their table turnover is quick, and it's clear that the staff are on top of it. In the meantime, we were able to grab some beers at the bar. They have a good selection of beers on tap. While I didn't try their cocktails, nothing from the cocktail menu sounded particularly appealing to me. We shared the duck confit nachos, which was probably the best thing that we got. I got the beets and farro and added crispy chicken - big mistake. The chicken was really hard to chew because it was overly crisped, and the bowl itself was overly doused in sauce/dressing. My friends seemed to enjoy their burger and chicken Caesar salad, but they were pretty standard and not anything out of the ordinary. My friends and I were heading up to Joshua Tree for the weekend and were looking for a place to stop by for lunch. We decided to check out this location which is in the town before Joshua Tree. It's located in an area off the main road next to the VCA Animal Hospital on Twentynine Palms Outerhighway S. There's a parking lot with ample stalls. The interior was quite fun which a ton of paintings around the restaurant. There's a wall dedicated to a specific long haired cat which I think is the owner's cat? Maybe? There was a pool table and photobooth for customers to pay to play/use. I got their Shrimps & Grits as it seemed liked a nice unique dish. The presentation looked beautiful! I wasn't very impressed by the taste of the dish, though. There didn't seemed to be enough flavor in the grits in my opinion compared to other places I've been. There didn't seem to be any cheese which I thought this dish was known for. Or maybe the cheese was the white thing on my grits (peep pic)? The shrimp had wonderful flavor which I wish translated into the grits as well. My boyfriend and friend got their Breakfast Burger which had a double patty with a sunny side up egg which was delicious! Lots of flavor from the chipotle mayo. It was definitely a messy dish, haha! Another friend got their Crispy Chicken Sandwich which was VERY crispy. I only got to try the skin of the chicken rather than dark meat, but it looked as if she really enjoyed it. It was just enough for her to finish everything as well! We all shared a 12 piece buffalo wings which were really tiny... for the price it was for the size we got, it was kind of sad. But the wings were really crispy without them being drenched in buffalo sauce which I was kind of worried about, thankfully! Overall, this place was an a relatively good stop by restaurant. There wasn't much of a "wow" aspect for all of us, but we had a really good meal. The drinks, though, were really cheap in comparison to city prices. P.S. We stopped in here very late on a Wednesday after our elopement. Don't forget your ID! It is a super cute dive bar-type atmosphere and I hear they have a karaoke night that would be really fun (on the days maybe?) Seems very gay friendly which is what we were looking for:) We got fries and a burger to go - they have gluten-free buns - and the fries with both sauces we got were delicious. My girlfriend and I did a girls trip to Joshua Tree last summer and stopped into this place for lunch one day. I'm not going to lie I wasn't expecting the food to be good because we initially just came in for drinks. We sat at the bar, the bartender was super cool and friendly. He gave great recommendations, my girlfriend got the vanilla French toast with no toppings and it was still really delicious. I ordered the shrimp and grits per the bartender's recommendation; and man he didn't steer me wrong. I was hesitant only because I'm originally from Louisiana and I'm super picky about shrimp and grits. But this was a pleasant surprise, it definitely is not like traditional New Orleans shrimp and grits, but their take on it is absolutely delicious. It was full of flavor and those grits were heavenly. The overall vibe of this place is super funky, they have great drinks and again the food was surprisingly delicious. We made our 3rd trip to the Tiny Pony last weekend, and we love it more than ever. Food and drinks were excellent, as with our previous visits! We always get the lemon pepper wings (yum), we tried the nachos with boar, and the frozen painkillers off the bar menu are the perfect treat. In particular this visit, the staff really stood out. We arrived during a busy time, they were seating quickly and were so attentive and kind. We were just two by a rambunctious table of 12ish, and it was clear they wanted us to have a good experience too. We love the vibe at this bar. We'll keep coming back every time we escape from LA. The server was really nice but then really hard to get their attention after our food came (for water, sauce, etc.). A DJ went on at 9:30pm and he was great! However, the service was slow. We waited about 15 minutes before flagging someone down to take our order, and then another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. It seemed like they might have been short-staffed that day. We were so hungry by the time the food came that I forgot to snap a photo. Ordered the Chicken Sandwich, decent, but the slaw on it didn't have any kick or tang to it. $15 à la carte, the portion felt a bit small. Ordered The Tiny Pony Fries, the highlight of the meal, great flavor, and the ranch and chipotle dips were tasty. Also ordered the Veggie Biscuits and Gravy. Biscuits were large, fluffy, and delicious, eggs were cooked just right. The gravy was a bit bland, though that might be because we're used to sausage gravy adding more depth. Was visiting Joshua Tree for a day and wanted to find something local since I didn't come all this way to go to the general fast food options that I could get anywhere else. Found The Tiny Pony after doing some research and it looked pretty good! Although there were definitely some interesting options on the menu, decided to keep it conventional and get The Pony Burger. Well, I did add an egg and some avocado, because whenever you see an option to add an egg to a burger you have to take it! Meat was good, definitely better than your usual burger but nothing overly special. What I was really here for was the Loaded Yuca Fries, which tasted great with the housemade queso and the chipotle aioli side. Service was good, no complaints from me. Very friendly folks here. I actually did like being able to grab water from a tank on the side on my own. I drink a lot of water, so it was easy to refill. Overall, good experience here. For the Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley area, it's a perfectly good establishment to come to. read more
