Ordered a breakfast quesadilla with chicken sausage, and the waitress even confirmed it on two separate occasions. After eating most of a slice and feeling sick, I asked to double-check--turns out it was actually pork. The manager apologized and refunded the meal, but later that day I had severe cramps and diarrhea. I hadn't eaten pork in 8 years for health reasons, so this was a serious mistake. Let's start out with the good.. the coffee and water. Now what was bad: The waitress was nice, but lacked attention to detail for her section. Checked on us 2 times during the meal. Had to ask for a refill. All of the tables were dirty and they had just opened and no one had been there. The food was not worth the price. The "Nashville Hot" chicken and waffles had 0 spice that you would expect from something that's supposed to be Nashville hot. My side order of grits were not done. They were still crunchy. The banana pie waffle, according to my wife, had too much banana with it and lacked flavor as well. We just left without lunch. Arrived at noon to an almost empty restaurant and we were seated at once. But there we sat. When we were finally greeted and ordered, again we waited. When our food came out, my husband's salmon salad was uneatable. It was sooooo over cooked there was no meat in the middle, just 2 sides of burnt crust. We tried to send it back and they argued with us that it was cooked just fine. Now mind you we have had the salad many times and it was not cooked fine. But to come argue with someone, unacceptable. Goodbye Toasted Yolk, we will not be back to THIS location. No wonder it was empty at noon. read more

Came here for brunch with my family. I ordered the 'southern fried chicken' salad. It was huge! My only complaint is that they don't have Cesar dressing available. I didn't think the honey mustard went well with the salad so I didn't really get to enjoy it. But I was able to steal some of my father's shrimp & grits and that was super delicious. read more

Dropped in to Grab some tacos to go. Our go to are the breakfast eggs, cheese, soft potatoes, & crispy bacon please. My tacos bacon didn't seem crispy to my liking. So I requested them extra crispy on the side. It came back out mixed in. Which doesn't appears less presentable to me. I really love that the GM came out to make it right, and had my crispy bacon on the side. I wasn't going to send it back for the second time, because lack of communication. I remember when I used to visit the location in Conroe years ago, I looooved Toasted Yolk. I moved out of houston and when I came back, this one opened not too far from where I live, so I was excited to go and it did not disappoint!! Kiana was our server who was super sweet, quick with our service and attentive. I always love to ask what servers like, bc they eat there all the time and j like trying new things. This time I went classic and it was just what I needed, and all American style breakfast with a few bites of my son's french toast, which was ooooof!! We had such a great trip, that my son wanted to go back there for brunch to celebrate his birthday Sophia took care of us on our next trip and there was more of us that came in. She as well was super sweet, the southern hospitality in this place is always great! Kiana saw us and remembered us and said hello! Also remembered how I wanted my beverage made! We've been waiting to try this place and why not on a rainy Sunday morning. Service was great had a couple conversations with several staff members everyone had great attitudes. Ordered different meals that we would not make at home. The husband had the Double Decker Omelet it was packed he couldn't eat the whole thing (not pictured) and I had the Wheatwich. The Wheatwich was really good wish there had been more avocado and the cheese grits were delicious I wanted a Brunchin' coffee but they can only serve them after 10am on Sundays. So I had regular coffee which was good I thought the restaurant was a cute, a little heavy on the lime green everywhere. Mugs were cute and they do have a small gift shop to buy T-shirts. we went here for brunch while visiting family. We had a big party of 16 and they were graciously allowing us to sit in their private room. The service is amazing and the workers are very friendly. The decor of the place is upbeat and bright, and they have some really cool murals on the wall that are memorable. onto the food. There is a lot of selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from. They have a variety of different Texas based meals. The quality of the food is OK. When I say OK I mean the flavors and taste of the food is OK but it's nothing special. I ordered the half-and-half sandwich and salad. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and the strawberry field salad. The chicken was pretty tasteless and dry. The chicken salad flavor tasted like chicken with mayonnaise on it. I didn't take any pictures because I've did a review for this restaurant my husband tagged me so a review it is. The food was amazing I ordered two fried eggs, hash brown casserole, ham and a side of grits. I honestly didn't want to go to the toasted yolk but that's the parking lot my husband drove us too. The food was truly good it's always good to me I just like variety and a change my husband likes visiting the same spots. The service for us was amazing our waitress was the sweetest two other tables in there not so much they had foods returned not sure what the issue was. I joined the waiting list before arriving (highly recommend) which pretty much eliminated the wait time when I got there. The food was delicious and the service from all employees was amazing! Early Saturday trip, they squeezed 7 of us in a booth when the place was half full. Waitress was nice but not very good, no drink refills and very slow. Food was not very good, sunny side up does not mean raw, hashbrown casserole was totally white, maybe they microwaved the thing but definitely undercooked. Manager comes over and asks if the food got cold waiting on the toast. I replied yes and he said he would cancel the order and I would only be responsible for the coffee!!?? First time at this location and the food was just bad. The pancakes were dry, the waffles were dry, the hash brown casserole was like a thick piece of jello, the gravy was also thick like they added too much flour. We went on Father's Day and though it was packed, it was efficient and everything was great! The bacon was tasty! The cheese grits were rich and creamy. What a FREAKING stressful breakfast. Today you were our 2nd choice. Tomorrow you will no longer even be on our radar. We don't need that kind of stress. We asked for salsa...3x!!! Showed up 1/2 thru our meal. Btw, salsa is HORRIBLE and charged for it. Asked two times for a coffee refill, and by that time we were done with breakfast. Even asked another server to go find our server! Our bill was laid down and nobody ever came back to collect our credit card. We had to get up and go ask the bar to check us out. Do you like hair in your food? How about two pieces of hair? Then you'll love the Toasted Yolk! Came here with the family the other day and had a terrible experience. I put us on the waiting list for a booth, when we arrived we were seated at a table which is fine no biggy (although what's the point of asking what type of seating you'd like if they don't accommodate it). I ordered the pancakes and sausage, my daughter got the french toast and my husband got an omelet. The pancakes were huge and nasty. The middle was undercooked and the sides were burnt. I had three bites and gave up. My husbands omelet was underwhelming, he said the eggs didn't taste fresh. This opinion is coming from a man who literally eats anything. Now for the "winning dish" my daughters french toast with a side of hair. I understand mistakes happen, however this is just unacceptable. One hair is bad enough but two is ridiculous. Do they not wear hair nets? No expeditor? No one with some what decent vision to check the food? When we finally found our waitress she apologized and replaced it. No manager was notified or sent over and we were still charged for the replacement, which my daughter had zero interest in eating after having two hairs in her first round of food. I worked back and front of house at several restaurants in my younger days, it's pretty standard to send a manager over for issues especially when it comes to hair in your food, I was shocked this didn't happen. It's also standard to comp the meal that had the issue, which also didn't happen (at first). I called for the manager and asked if he could take off my daughters meal since she wouldn't be eating it. He took it off but didn't really say anything in regards to the situation. Again, I realize mistakes happen but be accountable for them when they do happen. It's safe to say we will not be returning. I'll stick with Cypress Breakfast House. read more
