Sacramento's version of "Cheers". The famous Torch Club where everyone goes for a welcoming atmosphere, friendly faces & good music, especially for the blues lover.

Nothing Too Fancy, But Good Music & Reasonable Prices! SITREP Came in with coworkers for a quick drink, some relaxing melodies and just a chill time. Thanks to our wondrous host for opening the doors early for us and relaxing our souls with the best drinks. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-torch-club-sacramento?select=HOW4YrPuA-DRhQAaKNZIyw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE SETUP It had actually been a few Covid-years since I had walked through the doors of this esteemed establishment. A couple in our work crew thought it was about time we RE-establish our after-work get-togethers since more of us were in the workplace. And on this occasion, our OLD old boss Tom was traipsing through town from his much vaunted retirement "estate" in the North Coast, so this was the perfect time to lasso him for some drinks and memories. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-torch-club-sacramento?select=1Y-oTX5yIdLiS_NvFi88yg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w DRINKS For me it just comes down to reasonably priced drinks and the friendly staff here to make the experience friendly and memorable. About six of us show up a full half hour early! Apparently they were still on a covid hour and weren't open til 6pm. However, we showed up at 5:30pm and she opened the bar for us. And because Torch Club has a reasonably-priced menu of drinks, I found myself (surprisingly) buying the first round of drinks for everyone! (WTF?) :) OLD FASHIONED When it comes to my poison, I always head to WHISKEY. And if I'm doing whiskey, I'm going straight to an Old Fashioned. And Torch Club knows how to make it perfect. But dam if my current boss Jodean won't let me drink my Old Fashioned in peace! :D https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-torch-club-sacramento?select=Ruy3Ksef4TUD_Kh5YEjL_Q&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w MUSIC And of course, if you're into some smooth jazz, some Blues, or light honkey-tonk, there's a stage where a lot of bands set up and wow us with their skills. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-torch-club-sacramento?select=X1o4r2CFHUSb5e_rWmxXbw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN A wonderful time for friends & colleagues in the Torch Club.

Great low key bar with good drinks and live music on a regular basis. The service has been good and friendly every time I've been there. It is a solid regular stop.

Wow, we found this spot last minute on a Sunday night, and didn't expect much. But we were amazed. It was exactly the type of event that we love attending, not just live music but the carefree atmosphere, musicians engaging in an open session with soulful jazz, though from the decor and from what the bartender told us about the history of this place, the venue is known for its blues performances. And the walls are covered with artwork and photos that create such a unique ambience, from clown paintings to photographs of famous performers.  The drinks here are really good (I had a lemon drop and my partner had the Moose Drool). And the staff is so friendly. Toward the end of the night, the bartender took the time to tell us more about the venue, the music, and the history. It's rare to find a place that not only has live music 7 days per week, but GOOD live music. It was awesome, and the perfect place to spend time with my partner this past weekend. Note, on a Sunday, the live music ended around 11pm, and the place closes around midnight.

    Motivational quote on the wall

We were visiting Sacramento and our hotel was within walking distance so we thought why not? Better than the hotel bar. Better by a million times. We did not know they have live music pretty much every night. The service was wonderful. The server was very attentive even though it was full especially for it being a Wednesday night. When I return to Sacramento I will definitely pay this place a visit

Omg if you love a dive bar this is the bar is for you!!!!! We got modelos it was Can .. we aren't fans but we didn't complain lol and we did shots. There was a live band. The bar only had one girl on a Sunday night The bathrooms were clean at least

6.9%ABV cider, no kid stuff here!
    Joyce W.

For a dive-ish bar, its laid back, welcoming, has a lot of drink selections, live music, has a juke box and the walls are lined with interesting photos and clown paintings. Even after the band played, the blues music and sauntering beats of American old pleasantly filled the room. A nice end to a late night since they close at 2 am.

They had usually kept the sound levels here reasonable, but one show I attended was louder than usual. Afterwards, I have had ringing in my ears for the past TWELVE WEEKS. While I didn't think much of it during the show, I obviously would not have gone had I known it was going to cause this much damage. The venue should have posted a warning about the sound being above safe levels, and clearly advised patrons to use hearing protection and made that easily available. I learned too late that a sound level meter would have clearly shown that the sound levels were loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. I'm normally the last person to complain about sound being too loud, but it's simply inexcusable that any show in a public venue would cause hearing damage! I have sent printed letters about this to the venue, its parent company and the management of the band. I have not received any response at all, not even an apology. I live very close to this venue and had attended many shows, but I no longer can after this. I greatly value my hearing and am now spending much time and money in efforts to minimize the damage this one show caused me. I was very happy to have this place open so close to me, but now I can't wait to move.

Ace of Spades is primarily a general admission, standing-room-only venue. I understand that's part of its model, but what I struggle with is the cost of having access to a seat. Reserved seating can run $100-$150 per seat, which feels excessive. As someone with a chronic back issue, it's frustrating that the option to sit down during a concert comes with such a steep additional cost. Basic accessibility and comfort shouldn't feel like a luxury upgrade. There were also a few moments during Alex Isley's set when the sound briefly blipped while she was singing. Music didn't stop, singing sounded off. It wasn't constant, but it was noticeable enough to pull you out of the experience. On a positive note, the Good Luck Lounge was a great addition. The atmosphere was welcoming, the DJ was excellent, and the finger foods were surprisingly good. It definitely enhanced the overall experience before the show. The staff at both AOS & GLL were excellent! That said, the seating situation remains a major drawback for me. Unless it's an artist I really, really want to see, Ace of Spades isn't a venue I would choose. The performers are often great, but the overall experience doesn't justify the premium pricing for something as simple as a place to sit.

They let you bring in one empty water bottle or a sealed one. You were allowed to bring in sunscreen, but it had to be lotion, it couldn't be aerosol. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's definitely not my favorite venue but it is new, so there may be some improvements.

There is karaoke early (6-11) on Wednesdays which is wonderful for people who work in the morning. Many of the regulars are now good friends and the KJ Kandy is a local gem! Despite always approaching her politely and respectfully, my friends, my girlfriend, and I are often met with instantaneous hostility. It has gotten to the point where my friends and girlfriend ask me to order their drinks because they don't want to interact with her anymore. And when I've gone up alone, I've experienced the same dismissive and antagonistic attitude, despite never being rude or giving any reason for that kind of treatment. My girlfriend and friends are the kindest people I know and have never had issues with staff or people in general anywhere else. As a bartender in fine dining myself, I understand that the job can be incredibly stressful, but I also know how important it is to treat customers with professionalism and basic respect, regardless even if you're having a bad day. That's why our repeated experiences have been especially disappointing. I've only visited about three or four times, yet we already feel targeted. On one recent visit, people nearby overheard the interaction and my girlfriend and I talking about our experience, and they had experienced similar treatment from the same bartender. I've since learned that several other people have had comparable interactions. Some of my friends have been coming here for nearly 10 years back when it was Barfly, and even they were surprised by how we've been treated. They couldn't offer any explanation for it. I really don't want to stop coming because I enjoy the atmosphere and everything else about this place. However, it's difficult to feel welcome when every interaction with the same staff member leaves us feeling hurt and dejected. I hope management is aware of this feedback, because I'd love for this to be a place where we feel comfortable and be treated with respect and courtesy.
