This is one of my favorite bars to go to for any occasion. I have been multiple times and each time the food has been amazing. They have a great outdoor patio and the inside space is huge so you never feel like it is overly crowded. They have live music sometimes on the weekends, but the place is so big you can easily sit in a booth and have a conversation without screaming. I usually get the buffalo chicken quinoa salad which i love love love, but last time i went i got the portobello Benedict as i was there for brunch. It was very good. Also, bloody marys and mimosas are 6 dollars during brunch which is a great price for NH. Overall, i really love this place. Prices are reasonable and food is great. Service can be a tad slow and they only have street parking ( ive never had trouble getting a spot). Definitely hang here on a summer night!! read more

It's a good old Irish pub in downtown New Haven, and it might even compete for one of the top ones now that Liffey's is no more. Service is friendly, and while the kitchen could use a bit of help on some nights, it's overall a really fun place to kick back. I had a burger and it's standard fare - nothing impressive. The fish and chips on a subsequent visit, however, were a vast improvement. Parking is challenging, but it's worth a bit of a walk. Whenever I walk in I feel like I am at home. There is always a warm greeting from the owners and or the bartender. I have been visiting Trinity since it opened. After a 2 year wait for their "remodeling" I am happy to say they are back and better than ever. The interior is beautiful since is has been redone. It looks like an Irish pub form the homeland. The seating area has about 10 snugs great for dinner and talking and drinking. That side of the bar has two cutouts that allow access to the bar. There is some seating spots in the bar area itself along with a very long bar for sitting, eating, and drinking. The food is Irish fare with regular bar favorites with very good recipes and Irish flavor. Their Irish breakfast and Guinness stew is fantastic. The beer flows quickly and the drinks are mixed well and reasonably priced. This is probably the best Irish pub in the area. They have trivia on Wednesday nights with trivia specials on food and drink. There is an outdoor seating are if you choose to sit outside. The outdoor seating area is also pet friendly. You may see a doggo or two out there on your visits. Stop in for a pint and some authentic Irish food!!!! read more

I was disappointed with the staff...hate to say. Wanted to order food and heard conversation about Coronavirus and bartender had his own opinion about contamination and the fact Connecticut had infections...that at this moment are not true...got dirty look and felt very uncomfortable stating no cases in ct. he then explained that there was cases and I was wrong...checking CDC no cases reported in CT. Left the conversation to him...then was kinda rude after, just was sitting there and trying to be optimistic that we were ok! He then told other customers that they set us tents for St Pats Day...but he said that it would probably be canceled....sad!!!! I have mixed feelings about Trinity. I've been here numerous times, and it just seems as though it doesn't get any better - but rather worse and worse. The last time I was there, the bartender had handed me a menu, then never came back to take my order. When we moved to the front of the bar and the bartender came over for our drink order - I placed an order for nachos and he told me the kitchen had closed. Why would you offer a menu to me in the first place? Then we ordered Irish Breakfast Shots, and he did not make them correctly - which I can understand but the customer service that accompanied it was not professional at all. When I went in on Thanksgiving Eve, it was VERY crowded, however the female bartender that was working was more concerned with giving her friend another beer, rather than new customers. After waiting about 20 minutes for a beer, and getting looked past so she could talk to her friend, I decided that I do not think I will be returning. Sad because this place is one that I would LOVE to go back to, but it just seems that it is not up to par with comparable places in the area that you can have a better experience at. read more

Ordered delivery from here last night. The fish and chips was excellent. Great tartar, even the coleslaw was good. We also ordered the meatloaf and it was so overcooked they fork broke when we tried to stab a bite. Mashed potatoes and veggies with it were awesome. Gravy was delicious. read more

I come here mostly for the beer (which includes Guinness and Smithwicks on tap) and soccer matches. Occasionally I order food. I ordered fish and chips today. Was pleasantly surprised! It was excellent and one of the best I have had. The last time I ordered food was last year. It was the Irish Breakfast which I have had many times in Ireland. Their Irish Breakfast falls short. It is very average preparation. Maybe I got it on a bad day! I told the bartender that the fish and chips was great but the Irish breakfast I ordered last Fall "needs work!" Strange reaction. She refused to tell the management and chef my comments, saying everyone "is happy with the Irish Breakfast". I rarely post a criticism but since the bartender refused to communicate my comments, I am posting this. I think their menu has its ups and downs. I would definitely recommend the fish and chips and look elsewhere (like O'Rourke's in Middletown) if you want a great Irish breakfast. read more

I really like this bar, I'm surprised it wasn't busier on the Saturday night considering how great their food is and how friendly their staff are. Our table ordered food and the portions are generous, the food is hot and well flavored. I particularly loved the aioli with the sweet potato fries. My friends vouch for the steak salad and the burger. The bar have a selection of beers on tap. If you're into sports they have many well positioned tv screens dotted around the place. In the summer they even have the patio open to the outside with screens in the courtyard showing big games. This normally draws quite a crowd and the atmospheres always great. read more

So the first thing I noticed when I first step foot in Trinity, mind you I have experienced OTooles on several occasions, is the brilliantly elegant new dining room to the left of the entrance. Now, if you have ever stepped foot in this building you will notice it is very "booths" in the main hall, and the newly renovated dining area is on the smaller side compared to the bar, but it works seamlessly and is rather inviting to enjoy the Irish bar atmosphere while taking in an informal meal. Take it to the main hall for a traditional cozy Irish setting and enjoy all the new menu has to offer. I would like to mention that their new house burger is slammin, just the right bun to burger ratio if you know what I mean. Trinity is about to bring more class and tradition to the Irish pub scene on Orange Street, but give it time, they are steadily under renovation. First impressions was that the decor wasn't great. Looked a little worn I thought, but what I soon discovered was that this was part of its authenticity. Bar staff is very friendly. The whole restaurant is really clean. It's a great place to watch real football matches. (E.g., soccer). I totally recommend the clam chowder. I just went last night and it was great! The menu is more diverse than O'Toole's former standard pub fare. I had a hard time deciding what to get. I finally settled on a shrimp curry over chips (fries) that was fabulous! My friend had yummy truffle parmesan fries. They did some classy upgrades to the space, like adding paint and wainscoting to the former stage area that really brightened it up. The tables and chairs were upgraded. Fans of O'Tooles - I recommend going back since I think it has changed for the better! read more

Trinity has been a refuge for me and my friends since it opened. The fire broke all our hearts but they are back and I am so happy. My wife let me use her account to write this review. I held a STAG for my brother at Trinity this past Friday. I have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience from beginning to end! Management was extremely flexible with scheduling. They allowed us to come in anytime before the event started to set everything up. We were able to contact Shane the day of the event easily for anything we needed. He helped us deliver the raffle prizes we had and helped us set up the room as well. We talked about when everything would come out and he was more than accommodating with our schedule! Our bartender Eddie was a pleasure to work with as well! He was very knowledgeable and friendly with the STAG guests! We had a great conversation about Ireland before people started showing up! As much as I insisted helping him clean throughout the night he always told me that he would take care of it. True professional! The room was fantastic. We had approximately 65 people in Trinity's party room with over 40 raffle prizes, and food and it seemed like there was room to spare! People had no problem getting drinks from the separate bar in the party room and the staff was very helpful in meeting every guests needs. The food was amazing. We ordered 9 trays of food for the event and I didn't hear a single complaint from guests, only praise! People were going crazy over the spinach and artichoke dip and the jalapeno poppers (My favorites as well). The mac and cheese balls were outstanding as well and I think the whiskey meatball tray only survived the first round of eaters. They brought out a few extra trays of food when they saw we were low which I greatly appreciated and I know the guests appreciated as well! Everyone who was there had nothing but rave reviews for Trinity! I would definitely be back again in the future for a private party or for a drink and food on a Weekend night! If you have the chance to book a private party for up to 70 people I highly recommend the private room! Otherwise I would head down for the beer and food any day/night you're in New Haven! read more

I visited the place twice, both ordered large to-go soup, the first time clam chowder and the second time buffalo chicken soup, and both time the soup was fairly acidic tasting and in my humble opinion and google search results more than likely the acidic taste was because the soup was spoiled. When I complained to the bartender he defended the kitchen: that's not possible-the kitchen make it fresh every morning. I'm not sure how to argue back, but given both times experiences I don't think I'd want to give it a third try risking bad soup. read more

Trinity is becoming our go-to bar for gathering with friends when we actually want to hear each other talk. It's far enough away from the center of downtown, so unless there's a band playing, there's not usually a crowd, and it's never too loud. It's a comfortable place to hang out, with plenty of space to enjoy each other's company. Nothing about Trinity is particularly exciting, but there's nothing wrong with it either. The beer selection is decent (I'm fine with the typical Irish bar pours and just a few craft choices), and the food is pretty good. My boyfriend loves the popcorn chicken, and I've liked the salads and sandwiches I've tried so far. Trinity is also a good spot for lunch during the week if we're looking for a place to meet up and sit down. read more

This use to be the place to go.. Especially when they had karaoke. In the summer is usually packed either from sports or their outside tables. But the service is usually slow.. This place is my favorite bar local bar. The food is great and they go out of their way to offer excellent GF fare (I was even able to have real mashed potatoes here!) so that alone distinguishes them from the other bars in town. You can actually have a GF cider, and have decent GF food with it, in a much more pleasant atmosphere than elsewhere. The service is friendly and quick. I knew this as the old O'Tooles. I was told there is a new owner group, so I thought I would check it out. I used to only drink pints of Guiness here, but I heard the food was better. I tried the Avocado BLT and was pleasantly surprised. I saw that the burger looked good too. I will try that next time.
