It's a definite 5 stars from me. Parking was super easy (always a plus) and the staff were super nice and inviting right from the get-go. You order at the counter and then they bring your drinks and food to your table, but can also order more at your table as well. We got the mint julep to drink, which was exactly as expected, and then the fattoush salad, lamb chops, and union burger to eat. The salad is not a traditional fattoush salad, but it really hit the spot. The lamp chops were super delicious, but also they were as small as lollipops! The best part was the burger, which was cooked perfectly and had super crispy fries on the side. It was a great meal for a good price (around $40 total), and definitely somewhere I'd go back to if I'm in the area. read more

The business is clean and the staff is friendly. The food is good and the wait is short. I had the burger- cooked perfectly and super juicy. My youngest had the kids meal chicken tenders and loved the breading and the fries (he is a picky eater with chicken). Decided to check out The Union on a Monday night around 7pm and it did not disappoint! I'm not sure how lively this place gets, but we were the only people there. It's tucked away in the shopping center, so while it may be a little hard to find if you're not familiar with the area - it's definitely a good location in McLean. The Salmon and Shrimp PoBoy were delicious. Literally all aspects of our meal were on point. Good Mojito and IPA as well! read more

Three of us went here because of the reviews. Two of us got the Union burger and one got the beyond burger All with fries. All of us were very happy with the food and the service. The food is served very appealing and they recommended a spicy aioli sauce to dip fries in. Yum! Not spicy but delicious. If I had to fault anything it would be the burgers were a bit greasy. But that would be why they taste so good! Employees all wore masks and social distance was easily accomplished. Service was fast and friendly. read more

The union is a fast fancy meets food court type feel. You order at the counter and they give you a number, but you can also order quality cocktails. It's sort of confusing. I'm not sure if this place wants to be more of an upscale lunch spot? But for a nice dinner it was a little underwhelming. Small portions and it feels like they are still trying to work out the kinks. I think if you work nearby this will be an amazing lunch spot by the office with quality food - but that night we got a reused pickle - yikes. Anyway, wouldn't go out of my way to go here again, however if someone suggested it I wouldn't automatically say no. read more

This is our local go to place for lunch. They have great food- burgers, sandwiches, salads. Everything is fresh. Service is great.

We came for dinner and ended up ordering the wings, union sliders, and the wagyu steak. My boyfriend loved the wings 8/10, sliders 7/10, and steak 9/10. The steak dish comes with mashed potatoes and mushrooms, and was delicious! I would definitely recommend checking this place out. A local gem in McLean! Fantastic burgers and salads and the outdoor seating on a nice evening is perfect for a causal but elevated meal. Burgers are made with high quality ingredients, fries can't be beat, and the service is great too. We had a couple of drinks from the small bar -- a local draft beer and a Moscow Mule -- the beer was cold and the Mule was made very well. Counter service was attentive and friendly. The brioche bun is a nice complement with the gourmet toppings (including perfectly crispy bacon). The fries are also amazing - double battered and fried. My son had the Mac & Cheese which was perfectly creamy. My wife had the Mumbai Panini which was very flavorful. Stopped in on our way back from the Great Falls. Ordered a burger and Asian salad and WOW!!! Didn't get pics Beach use it all looked so good we couldn't wait to dig in. The burger meat was so fresh and juicy, the bacon thick cut and crispy. Hubby doesn't like aioli so I got it on side and dipped fries... Absolutely delish! The Asian salad with chicken, was fantastic. Chicken was fresh and flavorful, the dressing had a slight kick but all blended together deliciously! You can tell the attention to quality. I've lived in the McLean area for a while and, outside of a handful of favorites, I never really think to eat at McLean restaurants. Will be adding this place to my list going forward though and I look forward to trying the rest of the menu. I never expect much from a burger but was craving one so I got the union burger with fries. In a few words... Very solid burger. I usually dislike burgers with so much going on that you can't even taste the patty, but this burger had a great balance of ingredients and was extremely satisfying. Brioche burger buns are the best so seeing it on a menu tells me you can't go wrong ordering it and the restaurant knows what it's doing. Fries were perfectly fried and held up even after I let them get cold. Added bonus, other than the patty being juicy, this was a very clean burger to eat. I'll sometimes run into buns that get soggy and fall apart or burgers that require some effort to keep together... This burger had none of those issues and the first/last bites were on par with each other. They have gluten free options but my friend was having trouble figuring out how to make other menu options gluten free. The chef kindly came out to discuss with her and she settled on a salad that was thoroughly enjoyed. The chef also stopped by our table towards the end to ask how things were and that little gesture is something I always appreciate. read more

The Union burger looks just like the picture on the website, and is arguably worth the $15 price tag. The shrimp po boy is also quite good, as are the French fries -- which tasted twice-fried in the traditional Belgian style. My main gripe is that they charge pint-like prices for local tap beers served in 12 oz glasses, and the setting itself which has little character. Altogether, nice place to drop a Benjamin for a couple tasty burgers with beers if you don't mind being hungry later. read more

Enjoyed lunch outside today! Was hard to choose what to eat because the menu offered a number of appealing choices. I had the southwestern salad with grilled salmon and my father-in-law had the Thai coconut shrimp soup and Union Cobb salad. We were very pleased with our choices. The salads were beautifully presented, and had just the right amount of dressing. Restaurant is lovely on the inside and the outside seating was perfect for us. The food was good and service excellent. Major problem is noise. I had them turn down the music. I go to a restaurant with my wife so we can talk, not listen to the BAD music. No noise abatement. This is the second time we visit The Union. I remember the first time I had the steak and my husband had a salad and we left very happy with the food and the staff. This time we we both had hamburgers and they were really tasty and fresh and cooked exactly at the point we requested. They came with the right amount of fries and they were amazing!!! The staff is very pleasant and Stephan (Esteban?) was very attentive to see if we needed anything else. We are looking forward to trying more things in our next visits. read more

So I don't normally write reviews, but I was really driven to write a review because of the phenomenal service and hospitality of the owner and employees. My family and I just happened to come here on my mom's birthday, not expecting it to be as casual as it is, but this restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. My mother ordered the Chicken Milanese, and stated that it tasted fresh, like it was homemade. My father ordered the Cod, also stating that it was fresh. I ordered the Bombay Panini, and when I say I've never had a sandwich like that, I mean it. It was so unique and really delicious. It's not the cheapest restaurant Mclean, but it is high quality. I highly recommend the shrimp Po boy. You will never go wrong with any of their burgers.
