TLDR: I patiently waited a half hour for my turn, during the execution of my turn the employee made a mistake that got documents I was mailing out of order and missed copying a section. While I worked to correct the issue (these things happen, it just takes a few minutes to correct) another employee proceeded to publicly shame me for taking the few minutes to correct their mistake and get the documents in the right order and figure out what they missed coping. Even going so far as to make the 2 other customers exit the store "because of me" so he could move me to a corner to fix things despite my having just handed him 20 pages they missed that needed copying & that the other employee had just finished with a customer I let go while I was sorting and could have easily taken 1 of the 2 customers in line. Suffice it to say I'd rather go the 2 miles further to Montclair UPS Store where they politely & patiently managed my transaction. Long version: I am always patient despite long waits at this location (at times an 1+ hours). I needed a 50+ page document (worth $25K) copied prior to overnighting & a package mailed. I went early to avoid the rush & waited patiently for my turn. The employee began copying & another woman comes to the 2nd register to ask questions about shipping internationally. The minute the employee turns from the copier it jams. I cringe but No big deal it happens. She fixes it, it jams again as the woman asks more questions. I can see the copier is shooting the originals into the tray out of order. The copying finishes, the employee hands me the 2 stacks, I explain I need to make sure they are in order, to help the other woman if needed. Then a 2nd employee arrived. I finished sorting the originals & am verifying I have all the copies (it clearly is a smaller stack). He says he is going to scan drop off packages really quick while I finish & I say no problem and explain we can also sort my other package as I check the copies. A couple people arrive in line. By now the Int'l shipping woman is wrapping up & I've found a section that were not copied. I ask him to copy the pages while I finish the last section. He said he would rather wait till I finish & make all copies at once. I nicely explained that the copier jammed, which is why these were missed & got out of order & that these documents really need to stay in order plus the last section needs to be copied in color (ie he can't just stack & run). He then begins elevating his voice saying they need to help others & I'm taking time to sort. I explain again that I'm sorting them because the copier jammed & got them out of order & that if he makes copies of the pages he has we would be about done. He then literally raised his voice, walked from behind the counter & told the 2 in line they had to exit the store so he could move me out of the way...when one balked he then tried to cite COVID regulations. Which I would understand in the current context except if that were the case they would have to do that every time a customer exits, which they don't - it had everything to do with shaming me & putting me in my place. Never-mind that he had 20 pages he could be copying instead of wasting it publicly chastising/publicly shaming me for: 1) patiently waiting in line; 2) politely correcting their mistake; never-mind that while he was making the whole store exit so he could "move me to the corner to finish getting my things in order" (as if I was the fault of the delay by being unorganized, rather having to sort things because their machine jammed twice) the Int'l shipping lady had finished her transaction & instead of exiting the store to appease his drama one of the two customers in line could have been being helped at the second register. (This also tells you the time I was taking to correct THEIR ERROR wasn't even the length of one other persons transaction.) Nevertheless I remained calm & said, "excuse me please bring my documents back. I've explained I need them to stay in order as they already got out order when the copier jammed"..to which he said "I can't do anything about the copier jamming earlier!" The thing is - as I calmly explained to him - there was something he could do, he could be patient. I wasn't asking him to fix the copier jam, or fix the fact that the copier got the originals completely out of order -no - I was just asking him to be PATIENT. To be patient while I corrected their mistake, to rerun the ~20 page section they missed, & then mail it to complete my transaction. I was just asking him to show me the same courtesy, respect, and patience that I have always shown them & other customers. Since his behavior was out of line - I asked for my package back, returned their copies & left. I went to Montclair UPS Store instead. In & out in less than 10 mins, & they didn't balk when I looked through the pages after they copied them to make sure they were in the right order & I had a full set. $120 better spent! read more

This is hands down the best UPS store in the area. There's always (free) parking, and the staff is always just so courteous and pleasant! I try to come during off-peak hours, but even when they're busy they are just so nice! This is the best place to drop off those Amazon returns - they even have a designated "drop off" spot for those pre-packaged and pre-labeled boxes inside the store so you don't have to wait in line. I've come here with a slew of returns with multiple QR codes (the Amazon returns that aren't boxed/packaged) and they have handled them with ease. I have never had a "missing" return. And when sending out packages they do a great job walking through all of the options. Simply the best! read more

This store is a five star I want to thank employee Sodana for being so amazing and accommodating!!!! She is wonderful and was so helpful. I came in to print out some forms and one of the forms I could not up load to email the store to have it printed she gave me information on how to retain this form I needed and said I could back and she would assist me. She helped me print the forms I was able to print which was very helpful and made my life much easier.... Thank you Sodana. I came in a few hours later to let Sodana know I was successful uploading my form she printed it out for me and I told her this ups store will be my go to!!! Wanted to report on my experience this morning at the UPS store on Redwood Road in Oakland. I had a 33 lbs box with a prepaid label that I wasn't sure how I was going to physically get it into the store. I took my other Amazon drop-offs in and mentioned to JP that I'd be back with a big box. He asked if I needed help with it, got his hand truck and went to the car with me. He repacked it, taped the box shut and affixed the prepaid label. I asked him if I could pay him for his help and he said that was all part of their service. No charge! Truly appreciated his help. Since the beginning of the pandemic, when everyone at my company began working from home, shipping and logistics became a lot more challenging. The staff at the Redwood store make it so much easier for me. Starting out, they were extremely kind and walked me through all of the necessary steps for mailing items to different coworkers and international vendors. In cases where it would be more cost-effective to use other services (like USPS), they showed me the price comparisons and let me choose what to go with. They even offer AAA discounts on shipping prices, and accept USPS prepaid items for dropoff, which some of the other UPS outlets near me won't do. Now that more people are using UPS for working from home, there can be a line during peak hours, but staff clearly try their best to work quickly while taking care of each customer. I strongly recommend using UPS's online shipping services, or third-party shipping services (PayPal, Stamps, Pitney Bowes... etc) to buy and print postage at home on your own, so that you can drop things off here without having to wait. UPS's shipping services have had more and more issues with delays lately due to the pandemic, and getting packages delivered or picked up at other locations (like CVS) has been a crapshoot. However, I've never had an issue picking up or shipping items from this store. It's worth driving out of my way for the reliable service, and I'd definitely recommend this location to anyone who needs its services. read more

I called UPS twice this morning to assist with a perishable food package being sent to Southern California. I was told by a very courteous and helpful Jason that I can come in and have the box quoted based on weight, etc. I asked about the UPS flat rate online to which he replied that online UPS has offers that they do not have in store. I came in later in the afternoon as I said I would and Jason weighed the package and gave me a quote which was over $300. when I entered the same dimensions online, the price quote for UPS ( not a competitor, UPS!) was substantively cheaper. I inquired and Jason politely repeated to me that online UPS has different offers than in store. I then asked if I could have the label printed that I generated from the online UPS store. Jason said sure. I took out my computer went to a back corner of the store to not take up valuable space, as I prepared my label. i was instructed to send the label to an email addresss where it would be printed. I went to the counter, and waited in line to request my print out. Jacinto (JP) started screaming at me.....you need to next time do that work in a coffee shop or somewhere else? I asked: what work? prepare my box for shipping thru UPS? this is called THE UPS STORE, why would I have to go to a coffee shop? in front of ten or so customers, he began scolding me telling me i mis-used the store. I was flabbergasted as he continues to scream at how unethical what I was doing was. Apparently UPS online has nothing to do with THE UPS STORE?!?!? I asked why they used the same three letters then? he told me that me asking them to print a label for UPS at THE UPS STORE was equivalent to me going to a restaurant and bringing in food from somewhere else. I said I am not bringing McDonald's into an In n Out, I'm bringing a UPS label to THE UPS STORE. he continued to scream at me, told me he was the manager, then told me he was the owner. go elsewhere folks, this Jacinto needs to be removed/retired/discouraged from being a toxic bully who seems to scream (based on other reviews) largely at non white women. I am also horrified that one reviewer who stated her experience as also racist was told by the person replying to these yelp messages that she put their store at risk and employees at risk for identifying an employee engaging in racist behavior. that accusation of threat and risk is utterly racist. I visited this store several times for Amazon returns and one time for a notary. The staff here are so kind and they even offer to take out a large package from my car. Very helpful and accommodating !! Other times I've returned, there would be long lines but it goes very fast because staff are efficient---staff would be asking if customers are just returning and don't need a receipt so we didn't have to wait. With the pandemic, they sure follow the required social distancing and the amount of customers allowed in the store. Very safe place to do business. I am very happy that I'm located near this UPS store! I definitely will keep coming back :D read more

Notary wasn't wearing gloves,and no hand sanitizer at the counter. Wasn't sure if he had sanitized his hands before asking to touch my Drivers license and paperwork. I didn't want him to touch the DL. He got super defensive and told me to leave if not satisfied. Let start off by saying...I thought it was me. But Jacinto is the most rude and disrespectful person at this store. And it's a shame because it's so close to me and I've used them for a long time. The other works are so kind. He on the other hand, I can't with him. He asked if I wanted a receipt for my Amazon returns I said yes and explained that amazon has told me on a few occasions that they didn't receive my items back. No accusation just stating why I wanted a receipt. His response after a pause was if you don't like us service you are welcome to go elsewhere. I said all of that is so unnecessary, but this isn't the first time. Plus he must have kids because he talks to his customers....at least the Black ones like we're children. I read another review by a Black customer who also stated the same thing. He gave a very long excuse blaming her and then went on to say he grew up in Union City. What does that matter if you're rude to a certain group of people then you need to check yourself. Now bring it...the long response about how I'm making this up. And the statement "We are a minority owned". Like you can't be prejudiced toward a specific group of people. You will twist this review but God don't like ugly sir. I do think it's interesting that the reviews by Black patrons all say the same thing about you and the positive reviews are by non-Black people. PS you treated me like this before the pandemic and your workers helped me and others tape packages during Covid. I support and respect contact free interactions but let's not use this to excuse your rude and disrespectful behavior sir. read more
