I try to write reviews to promote businesses I feel are doing a great job or finding their way. Sometimes in an attempt to provide constructive feedback on opportunities for improvement. On occasion to try and help others avoid a terrible experience. I do try to avoid using reviews as a way for me to process my own emotional frustration. With that said I have written and rewritten this review and the place I consistently return to is that there is no value in detailing my experience as I do not think the proprietor has any interest in even the most constructive feedback. I am not a fan of automation and self service in retail settings, I prefer the human interaction - so all I can really say is my experiences with the proprietor cause me to welcome robots. The proprietor will provide the service you are looking for and will mark it up accordingly as the store is in a high rent area, but that is about it. No smiles or extra miles here. I had to get a document notarized and called over here before coming. The woman on the phone was very friendly and provided me with the information. The cost is $15 per signature which is standard in the state of California and they accept Credit Cards. When I arrived the notary was there and she promptly serviced me and they mailed my stamped envelope for me. Once on another occasion I had to have a letter mailed here as I was out of town. They again serviced me in an efficient manner. The bad reviews come from people who perhaps are not giving the respect to the hard working employees. They have no lines for the most part and they offer everything you may need from boxes to tape. Be prepared to pay for use of their products and copiers. I am really amazed at how much a little office can offer. We are so fortunate to have an all purpose store here in Saratoga and you can ship and receive packages, have a PO BOX, hold UPS packages using My Choice and more. It sure beats waiting in the long lines at the post office. You can even apply or renew your passport here. With ample parking in the back and a entrance from the parking lot its so quick in and out. And their hours are very good. read more

And helped to navigate a tricky situation using their experience helping other customers in a similar situation. They also provided and explained the value I would get for spending a couple of more dollars on my shipping option. This is the closest UPS store to me and it's in a nice location, so I've TRIED to give them multiple chances. I have rarely encountered less cordial or helpful staff. Saratoga prices at its worst for various services, on top of which they would charge for a paperclip (figuratively speaking) if they could and if you needed one. I've taken to driving to Westgate just so I don't have to deal with them. read more

Below is the email I just sent off to UPS Customer Service; this store is a complete FRAUD! ********************* I received a call on Friday from the UPS store on Big Basin Way in Saratoga CA to inform me that I had two packages ready for pickup and that I would be charged $5 per package in order for them to be released. This was the first time sending a shipment to them; often I have them held at the main UPS facility in Sunnyvale or shipped to the store on Prospect in Saratoga. I was appalled to discover that my packages were basically being held hostage and I could only receive them once I paid money. I have never been charged at the other two locations and it even states on the UPS website that "Hold for Customer" is free of charge. http://www.ups.com/media/en/value-added_pricing_daily.pdf I understand that all chains are independently owned, but this store really sets a bad precedence for UPS and it disgusts me that they're acting in this manner. I have provided my reviews on their service and shady tactics on Yelp and will continue to tell others of my disgust. snooty, unhelpful staff; PO Box gouging I just closed a PO box here after 2 years. They renew you for six months in advance with no refunds - ouch. And, you have to close the box in person (tough if you travel a lot and don't get down there much during their business hours, which are not convenient.) And, i was informed that the post office no longer forwards mail from PO boxes to a new address. Of course, this store will do that for you -- at FIVE DOLLARS PER INCIDENT. No thanks. The last owner was nice, not sure if they've got new management or new staff, but do yourself a favor and check it out thoroughly before you sign up. read more

Specifically to the Saratoga UPS Store and the owner and refuting the complaints in Yelp, I have been using her store for several years, I find her and her employees very helpful, courteous and efficient. Sure, there are charges but its a service center. It's not a USPS store, its a UPS store. If you want to MAIL something, she will provide the service but services are charged for. That is the convenience you pay for for not going down the road to the post office. Copies are not free, you pay per page. That is standard. Use the online UPS.com site, prepare your package, pay online and drop off. Then you don't need her services and she's happy to accept your completed package AND print you the racking info. But if you come in unprepared and ask her to do it, there are charges, that is life of a service center, pay for services. I find her to be very kind and undeserving of the negative remarks. She has been nothing but kind, helpful and pleasant to work with. Give her a break! read more

Are these stores privately owned and operated? It seems to me wholly unreasonable to charge as much as they do for every imaginable exertion of effort. Extra tape on your package? That will cost you. Packaging materials? Boxes? Those will cost you. After paying a fortune for my package to be mailed, I was told it wouldn't arrive until the following week. We are incredibly frustrated with the service at this UPS location. We had a very important package that needed to have next day delivery and paid over $60 for next day delivery. The manager of this store guaranteed verbally and in writing that it would arrive on Saturday before noon, yet it arrived Monday afternoon after the very important deadline had passed. We reached out very disappointed and concerned, and she admitted she had made a mistake and would refund us. When we went to pick up the refund, she was $20 short. While she claims all of these things were mistakes, we are left feeling cheated. This type of poor customer service and dishonesty will not be receiving our return business. We later found out that she tried to double charge us another package we were sending to Europe. We went to another store and she gave us half the price that this place did. While I hate giving a 1 rating, I believe I must. The owner here is very unhappy. She barely, if ever, greats you nicely. She's always unhappy and typically ignores you. If she's with another customer, you can forget it. She won't acknowledge you, you just have to stand there quietly. She'll go nuts if you buy a box and tape from her and proceed to tape up the box in the store. A big no, no. Other stores let you do that by the way. I literally go out of my way to go to other UPS stores where the people are nicer than the woman who is so unhappy at this store. Turnover seems high, I've never seen another worker there twice. When there is a worker, she's usually yelling at him or her. I avoid this store because I can't handle the negativity. read more

Rinkoo had me going in circles. I'm out of the country and needed two documents notarized by my father, who is also my power of attorney, however, Rinkoo had me going in circles, firstly, just being able to get the job done, secondly, all of sudden maybe needing a power of attorney, and thirdly, having to provide the actual signed copy of the POA as if the signed notarized copy of it sent to her directly from my lawyer wasn't good enough. It was just very clear she had no idea what she was doing. Super frustrating. read more

Very bad customer service, esp. by the lady in the store. I was asked to pay for taping. $3 per box??? When asked if this is something new that UPS stared charging for, I was told it is per store basis. That means it's their discretion to charge customers, not a UPS Store policy I guess. I used UPS drop-off service for return package, just 2 days ago ( a big box, Guitar case, hardshell) at Santa Clara location on El Camino real & Lawrence intersection), box was taped for free, never even suggested that it could possibly be charged. Gentlemen assisting there was nice and kind. No complaints. Waived the taping fee. But the lady, hardly ever greeted with a smile. Well, I must say, clearly shows preference on who she wants to greet kindly. This location is walking distance from home, but I am never going back there again. read more
