Chimi is a great sandwhich, sauses and seasoning is what really makes it. See alot of dominicans so it must be good.

Although she did…read morecheck-in with us regarding our appetizer, she was too preoccupied to check-in regarding our entree, due to her being the only staff in the dining area catering to 4 different tables; understandable but didn't leave us the opportunity to address our issues with the entree (which will be highlighted below) until we paid for our bill and came across someone else by happenstance. The aesthetics were elegant and on the dimmer side, especially if you're seating at the corner tables away from the light, we recommend sitting closer to the light or by the entrance if there's still light out. We really loved the crab croquettes appetizer, which had a perfectly crispy exterior that complimented perfectly with the moist interior mixture of potato and crab that paired very well with the aioli. The crispy potato that accompanied the NY strip was perfectly balanced as well, with the crispiest exterior that I ever had with a potato dish! Unfortunately that was the highlight to the entire dish, for the strip was extremely lean without any fat or marbling to help balance out the leanness of the steak (which is evident in the attached photos below). Usually a NY strip, even if grass fed, would still have a strip of fat on the outer layer, but ours did not have any at all, which you can see from all slices we've made. We weren't hoping for ribeye-quality fats at all, but just one that wasn't completely lean. The creamed spinach was also quite bitter and watery, which definitely diluted its creaminess unfortunately; you can see from the photo the wateriness in the creamed spinach where the cream began separating. We love their menu and the restaurant's elegant vibe, as well as how beautifully the food was presented, but unfortunately we were left disappointed by our main entree. I highly recommend their crab croquettes so please give that a try if you can, I promise you won't regret it! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

This was my second visit to Dalicia -- my first was for dessert (which unfortunately didn't win me…read moreover), and this time my adventure buddy was set on giving their dinner menu a try. Menu unseen, expectations unclear...so off we went! Knowing from past experience that the restaurant can feel drafty, I arrived layered up and ready for a cozy-but-practical evening on a cold February night. We walked in around 6pm without a reservation and were seated without issue as we were the only two people inside other than folks working. We started with the flatbread appetizer (feta, spinach, artichoke, mozzarella, mushrooms, peppers, scallions, turkey pepperoni on flaky pastry - $8), and honestly -- this was the highlight of the night. The pastry was thin and crisp, piled generously with toppings, and finished with what tasted like a garlicky sauce that brought everything together beautifully. Light, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. In hindsight, I should have just ordered a second one and called it dinner while things were still making me do the happy food dance. For my entrée, I ordered the Turkey Pesto Crepe ($12.25), described as sliced turkey, mushrooms, tomatoes, provolone mozzarella cheese, and sun-dried tomato pesto. On paper, this sounded fantastic -- a combination that should have delivered distinct flavors and textures. Unfortunately, everything blended together into one uniform consistency, and the individual ingredients didn't stand out the way I had hoped. It wasn't inedible -- I just lost interest after a few bites because nothing felt memorable. My adventure buddy ordered the Sarma (Stuffed Cabbage) ($18.95), described as cabbage stuffed with beef, onions, and rice, served with potatoes (his choice instead of rice). Again, the ingredients sounded promising, but the overall experience landed in the "fine" category -- nothing wrong, but nothing particularly exciting either. The potatoes fell into the same space: acceptable, but lacking seasoning or personality that might elevate the dish. We paired dinner with Pepsi Zero ($2.25 each -- note for fellow Diet Pepsi fans, they don't carry it here). Total for the evening came to about $55 including tip. It may simply not be my flavor style, but I'm always glad to support local and try something new.

Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes. They were cooked to perfection and the sour cream was the perfect condiment. They do have limited drinks here, including bottled water, cans of Pepsi and diet Pepsi, and some unique bottled drinks like birch water. The biggest drawback for the spot was that I just didn't think it was as clean as I would've liked it to be. It is authentic and as you eat, there is a man in the back that you can see making pierogies by hand. I'm glad that we tried this, but I'm not sure that I would return.

As to the entree I had what was called Beef Diane, a twist on the classic Steak Diane. It consisted of tips of filet in a delicious gravy flavored with cognac. My companion had Rainbow Trout and was very happy with it. For dessert we both had cheesecake with strawberry sauce. A good example of a New York style cheesecake. Both entrees were served with well cooked mixed vegetables. The portions were not a scaled down size but normal size. The meal comes with fresh baked toasted bread served warm. Delicious. The service was attentive which was to be expected because there were only 3 tables occupied. A complimentary shot of a what I think was kahlua was served at the end of the meal. Because of an unexpected change of plans, we decided to have a weekend dinner here, and it turned out to be a great decision - based on the food and service. What really worked for us was that the restaurant has a few outdoor tables, and the outdoor seating is dog-friendly. First, the restaurant has a pretty extensive menu with diverse options. I will admit that I was a bit overwhelmed when the waitress mentioned all of the specials for the evening. It seemed as the list kept going, going and going. Also, the restaurant has a dinner special for about 35 bucks that includes either a 3 course meal or a 2 course meal + a glass of wine. For my dining pleasure, I went with the baked (or maybe it was broiled) flounder that was served with potatoes and green beans. Overall, I thought my meal was absolutely delicious. I do wish the portions were slightly larger. Overall, I thought the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was very friendly and constantly checked in with us to make sure everything was going well. Although we visited around 5:30 pm on a Saturday, I was a bit surpised with how crowed the restaurant became around 6:30 pm. If you are planning to visit around this time, I highly recommend making reservations even though this section of Wheaton can be relatively quiet. Also, the restaurant seems to be very popular with the eldery community. During our visit, I'd say the average age of diners was somewhere in the 60s.
