When my wife and I want to head out to a great place for cocktails, The Vesper is our favorite. It is styled after an old speakeasy. It is a great place for happy hour .. reasonable prices and a great assortment of goutmet bites. Their meatballs are great, Korean glazed ribs are excellent, their deviled eggs are quite tasty, and the Vesper Caesar is a good-sized portion. This place is really known for their drinks. They are delicious hand-made and unique cocktails. The old-fashioned was great and my wife's favortie was the Pimm's Cup. Also their Moscow mule was top-notch. Consitently, all cocktails we have ordered there are well-made, utilize fresh ingredients, and are enjoyable. Service is good, although sometimes they get quite busy. I came here on an early Tuesday night. The ambience and interior are really nice, and the candle provides a romantic or pleasant atmosphere. There are couches in the middle and off in the corner for larger groups. The staff was friendly and was able to provide recommendations for drinks. My friend got the Doctor Doctor (which seemed to have a licorice taste), and I got the Primrose which had a slight citrusy flavor to it. read more

I love this place! I came here for the first time last Friday with 8 people and we were seated immediately at a table upstairs. The seats were comfortable and the place was very cozy. It's a good place to catch up with friends and have a few drinks/snacks. They have a great selection of craft cocktails to choose from. I tried a sip of several of my friends' drinks and thought they were all good. The food menu has kind of a weird variety of food though. They have everything from cheese plates to poke bowls. I had the Little Miss Sunshine cocktail and loved it! It was very refreshing and delicious. I tried a sip of my friend's Thompson Gunner and thought it was also really good. The drink prices are affordable for what it is. It was $10 for all the cocktails which I think is pretty cheap compared to other places that charge $15-17 per drink. My friend and I shared a cheese platter and it was probably the best decision we made that night. :) I don't remember the names of the cheeses but all 3 of them were really good. Terrible and rude service!! Got there in time for last call and the host sat us down. My friends and I could not figure out how to get to the drinks menu on their awful app and asked if they had a normal menu. The server said I can go outside and see the one on the wall with a poor attitude. They had about 6 people working there who were all dancing and joking behind the bar. We were completely ignored and the staff looked at us and knew we were there. Clearly raising minimum wage is a bad idea and lowers the service quality since no one working needed tips. Most people working at these places need to get their act together and get a real job with a real skill. But they can't since they are flunking every class at their local Jr college and working half a** at a part time job. Wouldn't support that business again. Flights, next door has much better service with kinder people, go there instead. read more

I went last week with a friend who was visiting. This seems more like a hangout than a restaurant exactly, but the food was the bomb! I was actually surprised with how large the portions of "small plates" were - we definitely ordered too much food and had to take some of it home. I wasn't crazy about the drink I had (Glass Slipper) and will have to try something different or ask for a recommendation when I come back. I loved the deviled eggs, Caesar salad, brie sandwich, and chipotle meatballs. I saw someone ordering the pork shoulder entree and it looked delicious but we were too full. Went here for dinner with coworkers. This is a nice happy hour place or even dinner spot. The ambiance is chic and casual. They have a very elaborate bar with plenty of options for cocktails, wines etc. Drinks: I got their sparkling rosé, was alright. Not my most fav. My coworker got wine - merlot and the pour my god was beyond generous. Food: Got couple apps and entree for food. Got the speck wrapped dates, which is basically bacon wrapped dates and was delicious. We also got shishitto peppers, which was alright. Also got edamame which was delicious and short rib tacos, so this is where they really lost me. I'm a sucker for short ribs and tacos, it was really tough and dry, didn't like it at all. It served to a good spot to have those good quality craft drinks and get some apps, and then have a conversation without yelling. Between the three of us we tried different types of drink from whiskey to vodka and they all seemed good. My only issue is the same with most high end craft cocktails is that some of them can be 2-3 sippers. Sometimes it's nice to know the volume regardless of strength as a larger weaker drink can be better to have with a conversation. We got the meat and cheese board and the deviled eggs. Been here 2 times already and I am totally thrilled they've come to DT Campbell. It's nice to have a spirits restaurant and bar in the neighborhood. This place is "modern rustic," an eclectic, comfortable space. It can get very loud at night, so expect to do lots of yelling. But because of that, ending the night here on a first date could be a good idea since one could snuggle up to their sweetie to chat while getting imbibed. Menu is limited but really good. Since I was already semi-full, I just ordered their deviled eggs and spiced nuts. The eggs are to die for, and the nuts were a surprise. They were served warm covered in a sugar and spice mix that was amazing. I highly recommend getting both. Drinks were very creative. The menu is what I would expect to see in a hip, SF bar. We got their house specialty which I found a little strong, but I generally find cocktails a little too strong in general. Definitely come try this place out. I suggest coming earlier in the evening to avoid the crowds and to more easily converse with your friends. read more

We had a good time here. Unfortunately, we stuffed ourselves like little piggies prior to coming in. I say "unfortunately" because we've heard great things about the deviled eggs, the shrimp and grits, etc. I was looking forward to trying their small bites. I'm a fan of their atmosphere and service, though I didn't really sample enough of their mixed drinks or appetizers to specifically endorse those. 1. They have cool couch seating available in the middle, but only a couple of those so you may find them difficult to grab unless you come in early, or stay late. 2. They have a cool art display going on, but the pieces are so large you may not notice it unless you stand at the bar and then turn your back at the bar to look at that wall. 3. Last call is at 11pm, a bit earlier than you might guess. 4. I've heard great things about the deviled eggs, and shrimp and grits. Too bad I didn't get to try them... 5. They have a pretty good scotch selection. No Laphroaig but the bartender set me up with another peaty scotch that was on par with it. Well done. 6. I like their extra large ice cubes that they have for scotch. :) 7. Tombstones are tasty too, a sweeter whisky mix that were well-balanced. 8. First time visit so my rating may change, first off the atmosphere is amazing. You walk in to good music, a stunning bar, and really artistic atmosphere. The best thing is when you walk in you can choose to sit at some comfortable and artfully chosen couches, I love the fact the owner clearly wanted a unique restaurant with some dang couches to lounge on. The drinks I have tried are absolutely delicious, please try Happy Hour between 4-6 Sun-Thur The food is a little fancy, and the menu is really delicious. This place is prettyyyy awesome. Not going to lie, Campbell was in need of something different cause I was started to dread thinking of good places to go to. I was with my boyfriend and another couple and while we sat upstairs, we were on couches with a table between us. I really enjoy the fact that I can sit and relax while enjoying my cocktails. I ordered a Setting Sun and I was super impressed with how nicely the cocktail tasted, I'm usually not a fan of Jalapeños in my drink but it gave a nice kick to it. My second drink was Little Miss Sunshine, while it was delicious too, the only bad thing was my drink came almost 1/4 less full than a drink should have been. My party and I did not order any food since we had just ate before. However, we did order dessert that wasn't listed on the menu. I forget the name but it was bread pudding infused with bourbon, cherries and whip on top and it was sooooo gooooood. Wasn't so much that it was bad, more so that it stood out for being not good in contrast to the great cocktails. Avoid the meatballs. Ceaser was plenty decent. Spiced bar nuts were the highlight. The best drinks in San Jose! We came here for date night a couple months ago and have been back several times since then. In my experience so far, it's pretty easy to get a table without a reservation on weeknights, but you definitely want to call ahead and reserve a table if you want one on the weekends. The place is situated among tons of shops and restaurants, so if you do have to wait, there's plenty to do to keep you occupied. The interior is nice and open, and the seats at the bar are great. It's a little noisy, but not so much that you can't hold a conversation with the person/people you are sitting with without issue. Their bourbon drinks are perfection, and I love the Caribbean Queen rum drink. If you haven't had warm olives before, theirs are definitely worth trying! We had dinner there our first time, and while it was nice, the drinks are really the main attraction. Got to sit upstairs with my party of 4 others. Awkward.. they sat us so that our table was touching another table of 2.. and we kind of shared this booth type seating too. It was just a bit awkward how closely they sat us next to another party. Tried a drink and it was a bit pricey but not strong at all, and that's saying something coming from a lightweight. The potted crab was really good! We shared that but I probably could have had one to myself. For entree I had the braised shirt rib ravioli. Pretty good! I'm a sucker for ravioli and you can't say no to short rib. Not really sure if I'll come back, as this place was a bit on the pricier side. Hands-down one of the best cocktail bars in the area! I used to frequent the downtown Campbell area (especially pre-Covid), and the Vesper is one of my favorite spots. It's cozy and intimate, perfect for catching up with friends and for date night. Their appetizers are delicious and super fresh (I once had a raw salmon taco, which was amazing), and their cocktails are amazing and very well made - tastes great with subtle flavors, nothing too overpowering. Fun spot in downtown Campbell! Pretty swanky cocktail bar. I think it used to be a wine bar, so the space was renovated nicely. Anyway, I came here recently to meet some friends for a drink. It was Saturday night, so parking was a challenge downtown. But finally I found a spot. Then when I arrived at the venue, it was pretty busy and packed. Definitely a happenin spot for a Saturday night. They have an upstairs too. Their menu has a nice variety of craft cocktails-- I had the Black Widow-- it was pretty good. I would definitely return in the future to try other drinks. 4 stars in my book! A fun spot to begin the evening or chat with friends in downtown Campbell. I've been here several times with friends over the last few years and have always loved it. Tonight was terrible. The waitress was quite rude when I inquired about the sweetness level of one of their new cocktails and stated "I don't even know how to answer that, we don't have anything syrupy sweet, this is a nice cocktail bar." A nice cocktail bar should have been able to tell me how sweet I should expect my drink to be without the attitude. Also, the menu seems reduced and the awesome warm and spiced bar nuts they used to have were a sad mix of peanuts and cashews with no herbs. Wildly disappointing. Meatballs were dense, dry, and too salty. The Cali dog was a lazy attempt at making something palatable, no char on the dog, no toast on the bun. Ribs were over sauced, and way too sweet. Also - since when is coleslaw dressed with BARBECUE SAUCE? Yuck. The eggs in the deviled eggs were over cooked and under seasoned. I never pass up a deviled egg, but after one I couldn't even choke down a second. I also regret getting the prosciutto wrapped dates, they were way too sweet, even stuffed with sharp, salty manchego. I did find the house salad a bright spot, great dressing, and lovely texture contrast between the avocado and the radish. My high hopes for dinner tonight were sadly dashed. read more

A friend and I had dinner and drinks here recently. The restaurant was a bit full as trick-or-treating was happening in downtown Campbell. Lots of families and kids running around. We ended up sitting at the bar and had a good time. The bartender was a bit standoffish and just sort of shook his head when we ordered. We were never sure if we actually got our orders correct. It ended up being fine but he had a bit of weird personality. It was happy hour so we had lower cost drinks and appetizers. We started with the Edamame. They were nicely seasoned and on the warm side. We also had the Butter Poached Marble Potatoes with sour cream, bacon, and scallion. Yum! Nice, soft, delicious potatoes. We also split the Spaghetti Puttanesca with blue crab, herb toasted bread crumbs. Very tasty. I would have liked a heavier sauce but it had a good flavor and you got lots of crab. I've been here on a weeknight as well as weekends. And I must say, I enjoy it much more on the mellow weeknight. I'm not sure if they're shady with AC, but with a full house, it is definitely warm in there. The ambience is quite funky. There are random decors such as a mannequin sitting up near the ceiling + couches of all sorts. The cocktails aren't that great, so I just stick with beer here. The dishes are pretty darn tiny. I was utterly surprised at how small of a portions they were. Escargot was good, Mac n cheese not so good. Did not know they have HH, but I'm willing to come back and try that selection! read more

It gets real popping here but the noise level is still manageable and you can hear each other. Creative cocktails and also very yummy.
