My absolute favorite places in Glen Cove. Chef Jeanine has created a gem here. The food is fresh and creative. Highly recommend the fish and chips -- beer battered and crispy! We just celebrated my daughter's first birthday party at The View Grill recently. Our experience was excellent. Fred was amazing, he made our planning so much easier. He was friendly and very easy to work with. The food was beyond our expectations. It was hot and in large portions. Our favorite dish was the spinach with sunny side egg on top. Grade School/High School friends and I had reservations to meet for brunch and there was some confusion regarding our reservation. Owner/Chef Jeanine DiMenna called and straightened everything out. She was her usual wonderful self. She made us feel welcome and treated us like royalty. I can't begin to say enough about the brunch! The food was wonderful: light, fluffy omelettes, flavorful home fries, great coffee and tea, Bloody Mary's to write home about and desserts to die for! So much was going on in the restaurant, but, our waiter - James - couldn't have been more attentive. Coffee and tea flowed. Water glasses were always full. Dishes appeared quickly and finished plates were removed immediately! This is all part of what makes Jeanine and her staff a true class act. Bravo! We just held our son & daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner at the View Grill & it was excellent from top to bottom. Let me break down the review for you: Planning & Preparation - We worked with Fred, who is the husband of the chef/owner Jeanine, via email exchanges. We couldn't get over how laid back he was in terms of deposits & head counts. Frankly, we were a little nervous since it was really just a handshake agreement. However, everything fell into place as the date got closer & the terms were fully met. Service - Upon arrival, I met Tom (I think I have the right name) who told me that he would take care of everything and if I had any issues I should go to him. Well, I never had to go to Tom. The service was flawless. Everyone was pleasant & mostly stayed in the background taking care of our needs without really requiring us to flag anyone down. Food - We had a buffet style because of the size of our party (almost 45 people). Many people complimented us about the food: salmon, chicken & pork were the main dishes. There was not one complaint. Also, without my knowledge, some of the party requested vegetarian dishes which were quickly prepared for them. I was not charged extra for the cost. Environment - Everyone enjoyed the view. We were given 2 rooms which provided plenty of space to wonder & mingle. Quite frankly, there are not a lot of places in the surrounding area where one can have a 'neat' casual party. It seemed the other options were too formal or too casual. In sum, we had a great experience & want to thank Jeanine, Fred, Tom & the crew for making our night special. read more

this place is overrated, it lacks maintenance and updates and food is mediocre. You can smell some stench as you walk into the Morgan room. The salmon was bland, mashed potatoes were bland, fried chicken was dry and bland, New England clam chowder was good, fries were good, beignets were bland. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The View Grill is our favorite restaurant. We've been there for a quick snack after a game of golf, lunch, casual dinner, special parties- it's always perfect. The food is always delicious. And of course- the view- is the cherry on the cake. The chef presents every dish as if it were competing for a Michelin Star-- and deservedly so. We drive from Queens to The View a couple of dozen times a year and it's always worth the trip. Most recently we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there and Jeanine- the Chef- prepared for us the most wonderful experience imaginable. It was a blind menu. Multi courses with no idea what was next- and every dish was spectacular. There was a gloriously presented huge sushi dish with tuna decorated over wasabi and ginger. Then she surprised us with the freshest skewered jumbo shrimps wrapped with thin sliced steak sitting in a garlic scampi style sauce. It just kept getting better. Individual bowls filled a bucatini type pasta- long tubes- smothered with a sauce to die for with big chunks of lobster meat. I cannot begin to explain how tasty this was. And it kept on coming- and we welcomed it! A seared steak cooked to perfection surrounded by roasted potatoes and baby carrots that melted in your mouth. The desert was a decadent molten chocolate lava cake with fresh whipped cream. OMG! Thank you Jeanine!! We are at a loss for praise for The View Grill. Jeanine and her staff are all top notch. I can honestly say every time me and my guy goes here, the staff especially Chef Jeanine are incredibly welcoming, warming, friendly and have you coming back to becoming regulars. Food is always on point, delicious and well worth the price. It overlooks the golf course and water. We were last seated outside and it was beautiful. Waiters are always very nice and accommodating. The View Grill under the leadership of Chef Jeanine and her team is just amazing. We had dinner there a few weeks ago and everything was so creative and delicious. This place is overrated- the food is decent- not great. What prompted me to write this review is the poor customer service. We ordered 2 baked clam dishes and a chicken quesadilla for appetizers. When someone in my party mentioned we had two orders of baked clams to make sure it would be coming out since only one was brought out initially this older lady's response was "yes I only have two hands" in a condescending tone. I went there based on the pictures online & in social media. Totally misleading. My daughter & I walked out without ordering. Cannot speak for the food since we did not taste it. Came here for lunch because I wanted a nice view of the water and the weather was nice. The place seemed a bit run down and the tablecloths Were dirty and was even given paper menus while others had nicer regular menus. Service was pretty slow but the waitress was really sweet . We had my daughter bridal shower at the view, Jeannie and her staff from the 1st day I met them could not have been more accommodating! The buffet brunch eggs, French toast, salmon, chicken, even down to the champagne bar was out of this world! One of the best restaurants on Long Island. A hidden gem that's a bit hard to find as it's off the beaten path. It's on the grounds of the Glen Cove Golf Course. Google it. Chef Jeanine, formerly of Page One in Glen Cove, is creating a destination restaurant here on LI. Although we've been here a few times, tonight was Valentines Day dinner. $45 for a prix fixe 5 course dinner. Started with an oyster with mango sauce, next was carrot with fennel soup, then salad. I had pistachio crusted salmon with a raspberry reduction. Just wonderful. My date had the twin lobster tails (up-charge). Then a double dessert; strawberry shortcake and chocolate ganache pearls. Now, of course, who's in the mood for romance after all that food? A gem. I am so glad this isn't far from me. read more

Better than average food at The View Grill. My wife and I were here for a concert. Not the ideal setting since the performer is staged between three separate dining rooms and a bar crowd makes no effort to keep the volume low during the performance. My wife had salmon but the veggies were alternately close to raw or just OK. I had the fish and chips. Our waiter said they were good and he wasn't kidding. They were crisp and not at all soggy. The portion size was pretty reasonable as well. Service here could be better as it seems only two servers cover all tables. Our waiter was well-intentioned but he never did return with the extra tartar sauce I requested. No one brought ketchup despite the fact that I had fries. For dessert, the beignets were tasty and had a nice crunch but they were pretty sparse with the powdered sugar. The chocolate dipping sauce tasted just like someone warmed up chocolate pudding which was a bit of a let down. Still, I'd eat here again but it is a long drive to get to unless you have reason to be there. read more

We had our rehearsal dinner at The View Grill and it could not have gone better! I am not from the area and we booked on a recommendation from a friend who's eaten there. Chef Jeanine and her husband Fred were both super responsive in the lead up and on top of everything I needed. The night itself was a flawless success. We had 34 people in the Main dining room. The room itself is perfect for sitting down and mingling. The food was fall off your chair delicious and the staff was courteous. I saw some reviews below about a less desirable experience with the food but that could not be less of the case. I was blown away at how delicious everything was from soup to dessert. Every single guest complimented me on a job well done, but all credit goes to Jeanine, Fred and her staff. We got married at the North Shore Country Club and stayed at the Glen Cove Mansion. If you're looking for a space with a private room and good food, book here without hesitation. read more

It was so nice out we wanted to have dinner outside by the water for my birthday. We were planning on going to Bayville, but didn't want to go to the Clam Bar or Wall's Wharf. We wanted something a little more special. We had not been to The View in a long time. Once we learned that the same chef from Page One was now the owner, we took a chance. SO glad we did! The setting is stunning. The views are magical. But... and isn't this always where you see the "but" in a waterfront restaurant?? Usually you read "great views=bad food. NOT HERE. The food was even better than the view. We had the baked clams, deliciously buttery with lots of clams and just a little breading and they were absolutely delicious. We also had the Calamari Wontons which were a hit. For the main course comprised perfectly cooked soft shell crabs and butter poached lobster.... so incredibly good! The end of the evening as capped with their homemade chocolate and almond gelato as the sun set and the ospreys returned to their nest feeding their three small babies. It could not have been a more perfect evening or dinner. Must mention our waiter, Matt, was great and an absolute gem. Everything about this restaurant is wonderful! read more

On a recent visit to this restaurant, my husband and I enjoyed our meals very much. We sat outside, and I had the pistachio crusted salmon , which was one of the specials for that night. The salmon was buttery tasting and very fresh, and my husband ordered a shrimp dish, which he devoured quickly because it was so tasty. The ambiance only added to the meal., Many gorgeous flowers were within our view at the adjacent golf course, and helped to create a sense of beauty and serenity . All the staff at the View grill were very accommodating, very polite, anything we needed they attended to right away. We were not rushed to leave and the portions for family style were great. Amazing food! I have gotten the onion crusted chicken every visit and have always enjoyed it. They hosted my college graduation party at the tiki bar this year, and the bartenders were attentive and enthusiastic. We ended up making reservations for Father's Day. This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. You could pick if you'd like to sit indoor or outdoor. It immediately made us feel right at home and that was before the food even got there. If you love fish and seafood, this is the place for you. The wood grilled trout was so delicious and fresh, my father was in heaven. Clams with garlic and classic shrimp cocktail were very good.
