We recently hosted a graduation party for my daughter at the View Grill. The party was outstanding from the delicious and plentiful food to the caring and attentive staff. We were given so many menu options that my guests had difficulty selecting. The butternut squash soup and seafood bisque were delicious, and I received so many complements on the Asian Salmon, Onion Chicken and Penne alla Vodka. We topped off the party with cake and their wonderful beignets. The staff even helped take some pictures of our guests. Our sincere thanks to Fred DiMenna for his patience and follow through on all our questions and help throughout the planning process and Jeanine DiMenna for the amazing food. This place is tucked away in an unsuspecting place by a golf course in Glen Cove. It was hard to find with google or Waze. We also didn't get the best reception for some reason. When we arrived, we wanted seating with a view and "the view" quite honestly was nothing too spectacular. The restaurant was empty except for one other party of 4 seated outside. Me and my colleague were both very anxious to get our grub on since we missed lunch earlier. And the reviews about this place were so great. The staff was friendly and The menu looked amazing. We ordered just apps: the beer battered shrimp & the clams in garlic wine sauce. Something told us to just try their seafood appetizers first before diving into the entrees. Clams were ok. But the shrimp didn't taste fresh. There was something wrong from the first bite and then we did not want anymore. It's like that chemical metallic taste. Not sure why there are so many great reviews. Very misleading. We were both very disappointed and sad not to be able to eat more since we were very hungry. read more

We had an absolutely amazing dinner from start to finish at The View Grill. We had several appetizers including the coconut shrimp, baked clams, mussels and buffalo cauliflower and all of them were delicious. Our entrees varied from the twin lobster tails to the Baked Onion Crusted Chicken and all of them were incredible. We had Kim as our server who was outstanding. We had a group of six people and there was never a moment where any of us didn't have everything we needed. Her service was impeccable and she did it all with a big smile. The staff was kind and of course the view was great. But our table sat there for 20 minutes before anyone brought us water, which was after I got up and asked. Friends from out of town wanted oysters and specifically chose the view from recent posts on FB. The waiter finally came to take our order at the 40 minute mark, and he was polite and courteous. 5 minutes after he left, the manager came over to apologize that they had just ran out of oysters. Honest mistake, we understood. But had we not been sitting there for 45 minutes before our order was taken, we may have had a chance. Still hadn't gotten our drinks at that point. We waited another 10 minutes with nothing brought to us and decided to leave. They were nice but just way under prepared for customers. The View Grill is in a nice location with a view of the Sound. We made a reservation, but the host gave away our table when we were late, even though we called twice to tell them we were on our way. We sat outside and the ambience was good (it was July 4 so there were fireworks), but inside there were a few empty tables that hadn't been cleared, still had dirty dishes on them. Our waitress was nice, but service was quite slow. We waited about an hour for our entrees to arrive. We had to give our butter and s&p to the people next to us, who had asked for it but never got it. The food was just ok. I had fish and chips (good) and my husband had a burger (he described it as similar to one you'd get at a diner). *Updated to 3 stars- The View Grill kindly reached out to me explain some of these issues. read more

Giving our Thai spot a break, we decided on trying out this place. We almost backed out at the last minute after arriving but decided to go through with it. We ordered the Beet Salad, Grilled Brook Trout and Swordfish. I'll rate each dish: The Beet Salad was the best of the three dishes. The portion was sizable and the Beets fresh. Overall, this dish would be rated 3 stars. The Swordfish tasted okay but was too rubbery and so this gets 2 Stars. The worst was the Grilled Brook Trout. We both cook and when our server brought over a rather burnt fish, I was almost tempted to ask if I got "blackened" Trout. That is how much the skin was burnt (see the photo I posted). The service was okay. Our waitress was very attentive but the bus boys were too anxious to clear away dishes and I had to politely send them away twice. They seem young and might be new to the game so I expect they would get better. As far as decor. Well, the eating rooms were tight and over crowded in my opinion. It looked cozy but once people filled up the room, it got quite noisy. We opted to pass on dessert and coffee, paid our bill and decided this was not going to be on our list for a return trip. Excellent food and service. Camille was our waitress and she was an absolute sweetheart. I came here around 2pm because I was craving clams but clams are delivered after 5pm. Camille went out of her way to check and then got us 2 dozen delicious clams. Our chef, Jeannine, came out of the kitchen and spoke to us for a bit. I would highly recommend this place for amazing food and a friendly atmosphere. Bring your family or your date. The view and the food reflects the people in this establishment. I chose this place because of the location, menu choices, easy parking and reasonable prices. We got so much more! First of all, the rooms are perfect for private, intimate dining for friends and family. We chose the Pratt room for its abundant light and unobstructed view of the golf course and water. Just stopped in today with my girl for Lunch as my brother said this was a pretty decent place to eat at. Located by the golf course, The View Grill exceeded my expectations! I'll break it down: Food: A+. My girl had the crab cake with fresh greens and I had the onion crusted chicken with fresh greens. We also did a side of Cajun fries. The bartender/waiter was very generous in having the chef whoop up a homemade chipotle mayo which was very tasty! The crab cake was cooked to perfection and was more crab than just reading, love it! The chicken was cooked through and very tasty as well. Even my unsweetened iced tea was great. Prices were very fair. 2 dishes fries and and iced tea for $40 at a nice spot. Service. We were greeted quickly by our bartender/waiter. My girl wanted to sit away from others and we were accommodated multiple times to be sat with the rest of the folks even since a party was going on. The chef also came out and asked if she could put us with the crowd as most people would want to be in the dining room area - we were perfectly fine with the outer table by the bar. The chef checked up on us multiple times and she was a real sweetheart. The waiter was great and offered me a refill on drinks and also quick to observe when I needed something. Atmosphere: A nice restaurant overlooking the water and golf course. An older crowd mostly from my observance excluding us. Nice dining area, bar, and also outside seating for when it's warmer. What an amazing restaurant with a beautiful view . Jeanine, the chef and owner, will go out of her way to please any request you may have. She is so compassionate and talented. Her foods are amazing. I'm Italian and love my pastas. I've have eaten in the best restaurants in NYC. and she makes the BEST penne ala vodka pasta, I've ever tasted. Add that with her chicken parmigiana and a salad and you'll be very satisfied. Her chicken quesadillas are very tasty as an appetizer. .You will not be disappointed on anything on her menu. The outside bar offers a great view of Long Island Sound, and the bartenders are great (Michelle is the hardest working bartender in a five mile radius). I had a burger called "The View Burger" it was the second time getting this dish and with the same taste and experience I absolutely enjoyed it. We held our son and his fiance's pre- wedding celebration dinner on 8/5/21 at The View Grill. We had great correspondence with the owners as we planned the menu. There were many options available. Our questions were answered promptly, by Fred, during the planning stage which we did via email as we do not live in the area. In June we had the opportunity to have dinner there during a quick Long Island visit. The food is excellent. Chef Jeanine is superb! She came out to say hello and chat for a bit. The view of the Sound is great from the restaurant. Our decision to hold our event there was solidified that night. The event went extremely well. Out guests raved about the food. The servers and bar tender were so polite, accommodating and professional. They worked very hard to assure we all had a memorable event. Staff couldn't be nicer. Big portions of excellent food that exceeded our expectations. Reasonable prices too. Everyone wore masks and gloves (though I never understood the NYS glove rule. Seems would be better to just sanitize bare hands frequently than never sanitized gloves, just sayin'). Might suggest you try to eat here during the week when it's likely a little less busy. This is a review for food for pick up. I have never been there to dine in, but I wanted to try and I ordered for pick up because they don't offer dine in due to Coronavirus. I ordered Lobster tails and it was delicious! It was properly cooked. My husband ordered NY shell steak, and the restaurant wasn't able to get the type of steak my husband wanted. They said what they get for the day is limited because of the current situation. So they cooked different type of steak and that was a big steak. My husband liked it, and it was cooked rare like my husband wanted. Also we ordered two hamburgers from kids menu. We assumed the portion was small from the price, so we ordered two for one kid. But it was a good size hamburgers like it can make an adult satisfied. However, there was one problem. The kid's hamburger was quite rare. My husband who loves rare meat would love it, but I don't want to feed my kid such a rare meat. Other than this problem, food was good and I would like to try to order again. read more
