Father's Day Perfection, Graduation Party excellent, and the best burger on Long Island. I had such a great experience with my family when they took me out this past Father's Day. The staff was so friendly and attentive, the food was great, and my family had such a tasty meal. My rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection! Last week a friend of mine had a graduation party at The View with about 30 people. Again, I was so impressed with how well everyone was treated, and how responsive the staff was. What compelled me to write a review about these great experiences, was stopping in for a quick burger with my wife. OMG, It was amazing. A week before we stopped into a well-known burger grill in NYC, Five Napkin Burgers, where we had one of the best burgers ever. However, my wife and I concluded that Jeanine at The View outshined this NYC burger grill! I was impressed. It really and truly was one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time and has become my new very favorite place to go, especially for a great burger. Previously, when I had a rib-eye steak, for me, it ranked with some of the best steak houses on Long Island. There will always be those that just can't be satisfied and will take to writing bad reviews in spite. However, I've been to The View Grill many times over the years, and their Chef, Jeanine, has never disappointed us. I've never had a bad meal or experience there. My local favorite spot, hands down, for a great meal at a great price. Kudos to The View Grill for great meals!!! Without hesitation, I highly recommend them. Did The View change their chef? Today s brunch was so much better in terms of flavor, presentation and service. The best of all was Southern spicy grilled salmon. You could definitely tell the chef took a pride in making. Various flavors in one dish delivered perfectly. My son s been raving about its beauty and the taste. It's Thursday, we had a luncheon at The View Grill in Lattington, NY. We have gone to The View before in the summer after a round of golf. They are renovating the golf course and the several buildings surrounding the parking lot. We were greeted with a large smile from our waitress, Maryann, who treated us as kings and queens. We ordered drinks which were delivered quickly. We had seafood bisque which was delicious. Our entrees were penni a la vodka, Asian salmon and pork loin with mango sauce. Everyone loved the dishes and they looked and tasted great! Another waiter, Vinny, came to our table to see if we wanted coffee with our desserts. It turned out that Vinny went to Locust Valley high school and was a classmate with one of my kids. Small world. Well we finished our meal with a great dessert, strawberry shortcake and cream. Again a wonderful finish for a great food experience. This restaurant is a bit off the main road, but it worth the extra time to get here. So what I did here is to take my review from August 2018 and add an update. Tonight, in light of the still ongoing pandemic, we all ate outside in the tent. Service was great and we could not ask for better food anywhere. Just loved the salmon with roasted tomatoes and crumbled goat cheese and my friends truly enjoyed the cajun salmon, pork loin and chicken cutlet parm. Jeanine always does a great job here with the food and the team is friendly and efficient. _________________________________________________________________ This is another place I go to for organized events. Our Kiwanis Club holds their regular meetings there and wow... are they lucky. Chef Jeanine always creates something special when I have attended there meetings. This is not just for me, it's the way she does it all the time. This is a really fun restaurant with three rooms including an awesome bar area, which by the way is always busy. Because the retaurant sits on a golf course, overlooking the water, your could not ask for a better place to be. Nice big windows so you can really enjoy "The View." I have had the salmon, pasta, chicken marsala, to name a few. This tasty food is always fresh and delicious. It's not unusual to see Jeanine come out of the kitchen and say hello to the guests. The team here is wonderful... friendly and attentive to detail. Coming here is a very comfortable experience. This is a great spot in Beautiful Glen Cove to come a relax, sit outside (on a good day of course, and enjoy some very well prepared food. read more

I was looking for some outdoor dining on Long Island during the pandemic. I found the View Grill on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This is located in a country club / golf course. I walked up and found that the indoor restaurant was closed and was directed around the back for the outdoor grill. We ordered: Minestrone Soup - it was ok. not great, but not bad either. Cajun Ribeye - a well seasoned steak on a bed of mash potatoes. mmm. Fish and Chips - fresh battered fish. Food: Food was on par with what you would get from an outdoor grill. This is not really a bad thing, but not something to be proud of either. Ambience: The View Grill provides a great view of the golf course and Long Island Sound in the distance. The furniture is a little worn and feels like rental quality plastic Service: The service was a bit slow, with the server not really checking on us often. TLDR: The View Grill provides a great view of the golf course. If you are here to play golf, this is the best place to eat, but I wouldn't come here just for the food though. read more

I was at this restaurant over the weekend for a birthday party. I'm giving this restaurant three stars only for their service. Our waiter Ed and the bartender were the only people who cared enough during our time here. The food was just okay like 5/10. They were extremely cheap on the portions when it came for the expensive food. I understand times are tough with making money but we are paying more and would of expected a nice portion to eat. Many people in our party actually left hungry to go get food at another restaurant. The fresh salad plate was a nice portion. The appetizer and entree was definitely not. It was basically a half scoop of penne ala vodka for the appetizer. For the entree we were able to get chicken steak or shrimp. The shrimp entree came with 3 pieces and half serving of veggies and half serving mashed potato. The steak and chicken were sliced in two pieces to make it look like more with the same size mash and veggie. The desserts were nice with the fresh fruit and fresh zeppolis. This was a 90th birthday party with numerous elderly guests. When asked about the air conditioning that was non existent- they said the building was owned by Glen cove and that the city controlled the AC and that this is as good as it was going to get. We were all very hot and sweating. They did give us a fan to put on. Over all I wouldn't go back. The service was nice 8/10 but what we paid for did not match what we received 5/10. This is one of the staples on the North Shore for good food, service, friendly atmosphere, great views, and reasonably priced meals. Looking for an event space? I've been here numerous times over the past year for various events. Always a good time. Grabbing a drink? They offer a large bar with plenty of room and a tiki bar outside when it is nice out. The lobster tails are outstanding and the onion crusted chicken is absolutely delish. My kids love this also. Can't go wrong with a burger and fries, chicken platter or a Greek salad. This place is super cute! We were here for a not-quite-a-surprise surprise birthday party for my good friend. They had a Sunday morning brunch. I liked that they had a buffet set up and that the food bar was open relatively quickly (hey, I can't help that I get hungry easily, my toddler takes after me in that way). They also had an omelette station and a make-your-own mimosa station with several kids of fresh fruit to add in, like blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. The buffet had your standard fair, the standout for me being the salmon. We ended up spending some time outside where there is an awesome playground - great if the kids need a break from having to sit at a table for too long and a good excuse to grab some fresh air. Fortunately, our troop made it back just as they were getting ready to serve dessert. Our friends family brought in a cake from an outside source, but The View served homemade zeppolis...HOLY CANNOLI. These were SO good. Light, fluffy and just the right amount of powdered sugar on top. And served with chocolate sauce on the side if you wanted it. I mean, for such a simple dessert it's amazing how many places fail to deliver on this tasty treat. But The View has got it down - wowza! Would return for this dessert alone. I had a very enjoyable lunch at The View Grill this week. Walking upto the outdoor dining area I wasn't impressed much but the food and the service exceeded my expectations. I truly enjoyed my Lamb Gyro, which I have to say is prices ridiculously low at 7 dollars. And the Greek French fries were fried to perfection and tasted amazing. My other half enjoyed a burger which was cooked exactly as requested. Also the Kona draft was oh so refreshing. The View has an unbeatable view of the golf course and LI Sound in the distance. We recently celebrated my mothers 100 th birthday at the View. I can not say enough about the professionalism and understanding shown by the entire staff that made our event an absolute winner. From the first day I contacted them to paying the final bill ( quite reasonable by the way) we were treated with concern and utmost professionalism. The food was fabulous, the service was impeccable and the venue was magnificent. I would recommend this facility to any holding an event. They were able to accommodate 107 people very comfortably and everyone felt at home. Thank you Fred and staff for making my mother's birthday the truly special celebration it is supposed to be. A Father's Day Debacle On the positive side, no one in our party actually got sick from the food and I must say, the view from our table of Long Island sound and the lush putting greens in the foreground was quite gorgeous. I even spotted a deer scamper across the lawn in the dwindling amber light of the setting sun. Beautiful. Unfortunately, these aspects might constitute this restaurant's only redeeming qualities. Strike that, the warm pita bread brought to the table was quite good, but was accompanied by individual pats of butter? Humus or olive oil might have gone a long way here, but I'll save my true ire for the following paragraphs. Having described above any major redeeming qualities of this experience, I can only describe now a litany of complaints. The manager did check in early on to inquire about the air conditioning. It would've been more appreciated if he had a greater interest in our service and food quality. Perhaps, the temperature was the only thing he could really control. Water was brought out to our table. And a pint glass full of ice. I thought this odd but realized why when members of our party indicated the water was warm. Strange. Were there some issues with climate control in this place? The warm water had a peculiar odor so I went with the Pellegrino instead - "one large bottle and three glasses please", but we received two glasses and two medium size Pellegrinos. Ok fine. Eventually a large, room temperature bottle was served and that remaining ice did come in handy. We ordered but the waitress soon returned informing me that the grilled octopus was no longer available. Aw shucks, but maybe that was for the best. I went with the blue mussels instead while everyone else ordered salads, one of which got mixed up and my mother had to wait for her correct order. My wife's salad, the name of which I forgot, was quite good she said and a large portion at that. Several others in our party ordered Caesar salads and would soon speak of the near inedible bitterness of the lettuce. An odd feature for a Caesar but I tried some and although I did agree with their assessment, it wasn't all that bad, just odd. My mussels came to me in the kind of bowl one might receive to place the empty shells. However, I received no such bowl so I tried stacking the shells on my tiny bread dish. The bowl itself was narrow and tall, resulting in the mussels being mostly well above the garlic, butter-whatever broth at the very bottom. The effect of this was rather dry mussels garnished with some microgreens. Onto the entrees! After directing the staff as to who was getting what, they set down in front of me a brook trout, or rather, the charred skin of a brook trout with little actual fish to speak of. The portion itself was quite small with little extra on the plate to speak of besides a couple baked tomatoes, some chopped Brussel sprouts and some sort of horseradish sauce. No bones at least, but very little meat and much of it overcooked. My wife's lobster tails, $60 market price supposedly, were diner quality at best and that's being generous. Tasteless and their texture was poor. I tried them as I was now desperate for more food! I also tried my mom's burrata ravioli. Another mistake. In a word, gross. She had plenty to take home but we left it there on the table with a bunch of other assorted partially eaten dishes and empty glasses that we never cleared. I eventually draped the linen napkins over the pile as if it were a corpse on the side of a road. Dessert, the final blow. Still hungry and having not learned my lesson, we pressed on into dessert. I received about 4 fluid oz. of warm coffee and a gooey, ultra-sweet cheese cake slathered in whip cream. The kids seemed happy with their ice cream bars though. My wife never received the coffee she ordered, or the half & half we'd requested. My mom ordered some sort of Louisiana take on a zeppole, which might've been good but was quick to offer to others. At this point, my blood pressure was rising. I just needed an out. Check please! The waitress would take her time with this request and I'd have to ask another waiter to find her. The bill came to nearly $330.00 but at least they only charged for two coffees. Some notes were angrily scribbled on the check to indicate my level of disgust with certain dishes but I knew it was all in vain. That's why I didn't really bother complaining. Even the table next to us was quite audibly having issues with the service. This Father's Day outing amounted to a good view and a few hundred dollars flushed down the drain. At least the kids got a good laugh on the ride home while I ranted about fantasies of having the place condemned and finally becoming a Yelp reviewer to set the record straight. To conclude on a positive note, this experience was so profoundly bad that it inspired me to join Yelp and start writing reviews. read more

Another amazing experience, this time for dinner. Was a little worried as it was snowing with few people on the road but my skirt steak and portobello was fantastic and perfectly cooked. Tuna was also fresh and delicious. We had a chance to meet and speak with the chef Jeanine. She made us an incredible bread pudding desert not on the menu. Not just was my round of golf brutal after the match I was hoping the food would save the day I started off with the potato bisque soup which tasted like it came out of a kindergarten school kitchen. The waitress was very opinionated which helps a person like me whose always confused on what to order. They had an interesting dish on the menu onion crusted chicken. I ordered that and it was good but the mash potatoes lacked flavor. My friends had penne vodka pasta, mushroom and chicken dish and chicken Francaise. My food was the best everybody else's was nothing to remember and mediocre. We ordered two appetizers shrimp hot and sour and dumplings they were bad. The quantity of the food served was massive. 4.5 stars A small town restaurant feel and great tasting food is what you'll find at this restaurant. I came with my husband after sunset last night and we were seated in the private dining room. Our waiter was great and we were visited by him and 2 servers throughout. We were not overlooked being seated in that room by ourselves. My first impression wasn't all that great because they didn't have a drink menu, ran out of the corn I ordered, and the restaurant seemed a bit dated. I also found egg shells inside my spring roll which I don't think were supposed to be in there. Hence the minus half star. However, the food was all SOO good! We ordered the Hawaiian tuna poke spring rolls, surf and turf (lobster and ribeye) and onion crusted chicken. The entree portions were very generous. My chicken was fresh, tasty and juicy. I did some research on the chicken because I read that it was the same dish found at another restaurant in Glen Cove. It turns out that Jeanine was the chef at that restaurant which has since closed because the owner retired, so I believe that should be fair game. It's her recipe! It was honestly so delicious in addition to the sides that accompanied it. My husband's ribeye was to die for. It was better than the steak we had at a great steakhouse a few weeks ago! I was not expecting such a cute little restaurant to produce such great tasting food. I am looking forward to dining here again and enjoying the view during daylight. read more

The View Grill might be the most accommodating restaurant I've eaten at since the pandemic began. Naturally, my friend and I were apprehensive about eating indoors, so finding somewhere that offers comfortable outdoor seating in December in New York was a challenge. The View absolutely delivered, giving us a space outside and putting on a fire pit next to our table for warmth. As a whole, the customer service was nothing short of tremendous. The food itself was fantastic as well. We opted for burgers, but they have a good variety of other dishes to select from as well. This place is a must if you're in the area. read more

I'm giving this restaurant two stars only because the drinks at the bar were very good, the bartender did her job well and the appetizers, baked clams and coconut shrimp were delicious, but unfortunately I have to stop the praise at that. To start with, before I even decided to go to this restaurant I reviewed their menu and both myself and my husband thought, okay, looks good, we'll try it. I called to make a reservation and Jeannine answered the phone, she took my name and time and I would assume I then had my reservation, well that was not to be. Upon arrival nowhere in the reservation book had my name, all right, not terrible, we were given a table inside as requested. After a drink at the bar we were seated. What to say about the decor, the host sat us so that we could enjoy the "view". How funny was that, the screens were completely covered in dirt so any chance of looking at the view was completely blocked. The carpets were old and dirty, needed either to be replaced or a really good cleaning. The menu we were given was extremely sad, come on, have a real menu printed, these pages were run off on a printer and hole punched into a half broken looseleaf book and the items I decided to have based on their online menu were nowhere to be found. Sad because I was looking forward to the chicken francaise. We asked the waitress to give a description of the baked onion crusted chicken, was it a cutlet, did it have a bone? The waitress described it as "the best item on the menu", high praise I thought, so sure, I'll have that, my husband ordered the grilled shell steak and now the wait began, and if the restaurant was air conditioned inside maybe I wouldn't have noticed the wait time. For a restaurant that was only half full, we waited an extremely long time for both the appetizers and main course, oh and I will also add their online "Taste of the Island" menu was never offered and there were no specials offered either. The food was mediocre at best. Of the two "chicken cutlets" I was served, only one had the baked onion topping and my husband's steak was extremely bland but here's the funny part, we asked for a second glass of wine and the waitress came back to us and asked if she could take our almost empty glasses back as there were no other glasses available so, the waitress said, "chug what's left in your glass", OMG!! We had to then wait another 20 minutes to get the check. My husband and I enjoy trying new restaurants and have no problem driving an hour for that. If this restaurant wants to charge the prices they do, get with the act. Here's a thought, try going to a nice restaurant and see the difference in what and how they serve. We will not be going back. I hope this helps in making your decision on picking a restaurant to spend over $100 on bad food and service. read more

People actually raves about this place? the only rave is the actual view of the water and golf course. Reminded me of Woody Allen's joke about the two old ladies leaving a restaurant and one says to the other, "that food was terrible" and her friend responds "yes and such big portions of it" That pretty much described our experience. Gigantic plates of inedible pasta with what may have been clams in another millennium. Sorry to write a bad review about the establishment. Maybe they need to stick with food they are more comfortable making like burgers and hotdogs. And the owner may want to have a talk with the staff about proper service. You guys can fix this. My husband and I decided to give The View Grill another chance. Tonight we went for dinner, and it was a different experience altogether-a good one! Our meals were delicious. My husband had the pan crusted swordfish with potatoes and broccoli. It was delicious. I had the potato crusted salmon with onion sour cream. It came with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. It was lovely. I really liked the onion sour cream paired with the salmon. Desserts were good too- key lime pie and crème brûlée. Our service was great; Kim, Susie and Vinny kept checking to see if we needed anything. Vinny as usual was wonderful. We had a delicious dinner and a lovely evening. Delicious food, great service and all with a view of the Long Island Sound....I've always loved a restaurant with a view. Six of us gathered for brunch today and enjoyed a variety of dishes - Crab BLT, Omeletes, Pancakes and French Toast. All were excellent! A complimentary mimosa or Bloody Mary was included with brunch, and there was plenty of coffee and tea. The chef/owner, Jeanine, stopped by our table to make sure everything was to our liking and it certainly was! We had a nice round table in the corner and although there were several private parties going on we never felt neglected. Our server, James, was very attentive. Ask for a table with a view when making reservations for indoor seating. -1 star for the decor. It's dated, there's carpet. It needs an upgrade to match the quality of the food.
