The ambiance was really nice, and it was extremely aesthetically pleasing however the wait was not worth it for our food. It was clear our ticket was missed because apart from the surrounding tables receiving their food after arriving about 30 minutes after us, it was very clear that the mean was rushed with how overly charred the lamb & steak was, & overcooked the meat was. A revolving restaurant is kind of old school. This one sits atop the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square and surely first opened in the 20th century. It was recently taken over by renowned restauranteur Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, so I gave it a try. While the food was decent, the view was meh on a cloudy day. To get to the View, you are guided to a special elevator from the 3rd floor of the hotel. You are dropped off on the 48th floor, which is the Lounge, which serves small bites along with drinks. The restaurant is on the 47th floor, down another elevator or a staircase. The restaurant revolves quite slowly; it takes about 90 minutes for a full rotation. While you see the tops of many mid-town buildings, you don't see down to Times Square itself, nor did I see the Empire State or Chrysler buildings. I suppose sunset and/or evening lights would be more impressive. There is a live pianist. The menu is fairly traditional steakhouse fare. I started with the fried artichokes with garlic aioli, which were pretty good, albeit a bit greasy. Note the only "bread" you are given are a few cheesy breadsticks. My entree choice was the roast chicken with a warm green bean and bread salad and mustard jus. Tasty, but very messily plated. There were maybe 2 pieces of bread. For sides, I always get creamed spinach, which was fine, as were the potatoes au gratin. Dessert was a very good cherries jubilee sundae. Overall a decent dining experience. read more

The revolving view of the city coupled with the pianist and the classy waitstaff make for the perfect backdrop for an elevated dining experience. The service is great, but it's really all about the view and the experience of looking out over New York City while dining. The food was also terrific, as was the ambience. It was relaxing with a live pianist who takes requests and didn't shy away when I asked him to play Frank Sinatra's New York New York. I thought I might get laughed at, but he stated that no one had even requested it that evening. Located in the Marriot on 45th Street. Escalator to the 3rd floor where you are greeted and escorted to an elevator with floor to ceiling windows. It then takes off and rockets you to the 48th floor in seconds as you watch each floor pass by. You are seated in the quietest restaurant in NYC surrounded by floor to ceiling windows as your table slowly, almost unnoticeably, circumnavigates the entire building. We shared several appetizers, Caesar Salad, Shrimp Cocktail, and Fried Artichokes. All very yummy. Also had the Cheesecake dessert which was great. Had a wonderful ride down that elevator. read more

We stayed at this hotel and needed a spot for dinner on our first night. The concierge encouraged us to try the View. It was spectacular. Getting to see a 360 degree view of midtown while enjoying a delicious meal was such a treat. We started with the crab cake and the fried artichokes. Both were delicious but I have to say, I was weary of getting a singular crab cake for $32. But this thing was loaded with fresh crab and fell apart due to how much crab was in it instead of fillers. The sauce was a nice accompaniment and not very spicy. I got the swordfish and was so impressed by the delicate care put into the leeks. They were both charred to perfection and served under the filet with a sautéed soft texture. Made me a leek lover. My parents got the chicken and the lobster pasta. The chicken is a huge portion and we all got to enjoy some. My dad's spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the sauce was bright and not sweet. Their focaccia is heavenly. We loved this place so much we went back for drinks and appetizers on Thanksgiving. The stuffed mushrooms and spinach dip were amazing. I'm not usually a hotel restaurant kind of person but this place is something special. read more

Dining at The View was truly an unforgettable NYC experience. Before dinner, I headed up to the lounge and enjoyed a cocktail as the city slowly spun beneath me. Yes, the restaurant actually rotates. I highly recommend starting your evening there. I sipped on a sweet Moscato, my favorite way to ease into a night out, followed by their version of a Pornstar Martini made with Kettle One and passion fruit. Fruity, bold, and smooth. A perfect pre-dinner treat. We kicked dinner off with oysters and a shrimp cocktail, and both were absolutely fresh and flavorful. The ideal start to the meal. I chose the crab cake for my entrée, and it was delicious. Well-seasoned, perfectly seared on the outside, and moist on the inside. It paired perfectly with the elegant atmosphere and twinkling skyline. The best part was watching the sun set over the river and NYC skyline as the restaurant rotated, offering a view from every angle without leaving your seat. Between the ambiance, the cocktails, and the quality of the seafood, The View lives up to its name and then some. Perfect for a romantic evening, a celebration, or just treating yourself. I was pleasantly surprised this is reopened. With new food management it went under a complete renovation. It circles the city while you're sitting eating dinner. They did a great job renovating it. The waitress and staff were very nice and accommodating and knowledgeable. I had the black bass which was very good. It came with asparagus we also had the Pork chop, which was very good. The shrimp appetizer was large and delicious as was the steak. We also had a wedge salad mashed potatoes and mushrooms, which was all good. it was a delicious meal and a beautiful atmosphere and it was my birthday and they even gave me a complementary sherbet, which was like icing on the cake for such a lovely evening. We will return. I would like to come back when it's dark so I can see the city all lit up. read more

Not suitable for vegetarians. They do have 1 mushroom pasta dish but that's all. Nothing for vegans and they do not offer a special menu or allow any modifications (like leaving the mushrooms off the pasta!) Also the service is very slow. Both times I've gone we sit with empty plates and glasses. The servers don't seem that busy so maybe it is the kitchen. I've made the mistake of a 4:30 seating to get to a 7 a clock show twice. New Yorkers don't normally go to places like this, but we went to go see the outsiders and decided to go upstairs and check it out. The view is amazing. This is a Danny Meyer establishment and he really needs to look out for his reputation because the food is fair at best. The kitchen is too far away from the dining rooms and by the time the food comes it's cold. Nobody knows what they're doing here. The kitchen staff is like a prison for the wait staff filled with rules that accommodates them and not the customer. They have no idea what's going on in the dining room and satisfy with taste. I doubt they stay in business if they don't make the proper changes. read more

What happened to this place? We've Been to the lounge 3 times since opening, so we decided to eat dinner here after a show. It was like night and day. The shrimp were ok, not as flavorful as before, but at least they were cold . The steak tartare was warm, over salted, had too many capers, and was borderline inedible. The Caesar salad was warm and soggy and overdressed. The halibut was unsalted, the sauce was unseasoned and watery , and it was basically missing the pea puree and had about 1/2 a morel in it. The lobster thermidor was missing the sauce, and was essentially a tiny tough over-grilled lobster. Literally the only thing in a $300+ meal that was cooked correctly were the fries. We went to the View to celebrate my birthday. It's a great special occasion restaurant. The service is classic Danny Meyer- amazingly engaged and solicitous, but not over the top or pretentious. There was an excellent pianist playing. A shout out to our Yacouba, our waiter. He was charming and we enjoyed chatting with him during the course of our visit. The restaurant does a complete rotation about every 2:20. We timed our reservation so we would see the sun set and it was really fun to watch. We started off with excellent focaccia. The cocktails were great. I usually find martinis with mixed gins to be gimmicky, but theirs was really good. We shared crab cakes, Cesar salad and a spring salad. They were all great. We tried a couple of different steaks and sides. They were all really good. The broccoli was unremarkable, but then again, it's broccoli. The burger and picanha steak are the two best values. Desserts were really good. This restaurant has gotten lukewarm reviews from critics. I think it's because it isn't a new or exciting concept featuring a new chef or cutting edge cuisine. Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group has done it again! The View is a welcome addition to the Times Square restaurant scene. I had high hopes for this restaurant, perched on the 47th floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel and this new spot delivered. The service was warm and attentive, the food was delicious and the drinks were strong. The space is more modestly decorated than other restaurants in this restaurant group, however this was understandable because it's really about the view. As a native New Yorker, I thought this concept was fun but not amazing! If you're looking for a classy place to grab a drink or a bite before a show, I'd come here. Ordered: Kingston margarita ($22)- wow, just wow. I'll be back for this cocktail. A classic margarita done well and then there was a twist! I like that it came with grapefruit soda which you can add as you wish. Shrimp cocktail ($28)- four jumbo prawns arrived on ice with shaved fresh horseradish. It came with cocktail sauce. I enjoyed this! Hearts of palm salad ($22)- this was a nice salad with multicolor orange slices, hearts of palm, radicchio and pistachios. The flavors worked well together although it wasn't earth shattering. Tuna carpaccio ($26)- topped with dressed arugula and fried capers, this was a high quality appetizer. Black bass ($32)- this felt like the best value and one of my favorites! The fish was cooked to perfection and the broth had saffron, swiss chard and olives. The only thing missing was some good bread to sop up the broth. The view chocolate cake ($18)- this is a very large slice of cake! It's dense and chocolatey and if that's not enough, it came with caramel sauce. Three of us split it and it was huge. I'd say it's a good value. Dining here was a fun experience! This is a review for the Lounge (48th floor) at The View, a rotating bar lounge at the Marriott Marquis. Once inside the hotel, take the clearly signed escalator up one level to the 3rd floor. From there, follow the signs for The View, where a host will greet you and escort you to the 48th floor. There was a complementary coatcheck on the 3rd floor (which makes immense sense). They recently reopened after a long closure in Feb 2025. We went in April on a Saturday evening after seeing a matinee close by. I have been here many times over the years but haven't been in over a decade, and it is QUITE different. I was excited to go since it had been so long and we were having a classic NY theater weekend. Finding out it was part of Danny Meyer's restaurant group made it an easy sell to us. So much to say about this scene, the slow easy views and new setup. Very satisfied with the delicious food and pricing (for this neighborhood). I think the restaurant is appropriately overpriced but the lounge is a bit of a bargain considering the view and service. (Note: I've had worse and more expensive drinks at some of the divish bars close by). We had beers and cocktails after an Italian dinner a few blocks away. Extremely pleased with the service from every single person met but our friendly and prompt server Drew was stellar. It seemed everyone knew how to handle the theater and tourist crowd. Next time we will sample the raw bar and other items but our deserty sweet post meal cocktails were a lovely way to spend over an hour chatting about the day and relaxing while it April showers rained outside. Now part of the USH family, this refreshed version brings the beloved 80s and 90s icon back to modern-day glory. The restaurant completes a full 360-degree rotation every 90 minutes, turning clockwise when viewed from above. The Caesar salad was rich, cheesy, and indulgent. Wonderful experience at The View, and the view! The restaurant is rotating so slowly, and at dinner time it's beautiful and gives you various views of Times Square. Service was top-notch, the wait staff are attentive without being annoying, a hard task but they do it well. I never felt smothered but did feel taken care of all evening. The Caesar salad was delish, I ordered the snake river farms picanha for dinner... holy buttery beef. Delicious! Broccoli and mushrooms were perfect alongside. Go to the third floor of the Marriott Lobby and there is an attendant there to help you get on the elevator to go up. We had oysters and I wouldn't get them again, they weren't great. I made a rez here before a show to try something "fun" and we had a great time! Our waitress was so cool and lovely, we really enjoyed the food and cocktails (which tbh I didn't expect ! I thought you were paying for, well, the view), the ambience was old New York but still relaxed and there was live piano. And our wonderful server got us out to our show with perfect timing. We had a lovely dinner on a Saturday night at The View. I didn't know what to expect given the Times Square location and the spinning aspect. We were celebrating a much delayed anniversary. I put it in the notes for our reservation and I'm glad we did. There was a nice card congratulating us. Then the manager, Mike came over to greet us. We ordered drinks. My husband had a mocktail (the Fool's Gold Fashioned and it was excellent), I got a Manhattan (more on that in a bit). Mike Noticed the non-alcoholic drink order. Apparently they usually do a complimentary glass of bubbly but since he saw the mocktail, he brought over some fancy Shirley Temples with Luxardo cherries. It was a little sweet for my taste. But then Mike came back again with a glass of bubbly for me because he noticed that I was having a traditional cocktail. Speaking of the Manhattan: one of the best I've ever had. The other two were at Keenes and Babbo. On the menu the drink was made with rye, which I know is traditional, but I prefer bourbon. I told them to surprise me on the bourbon. I wish I had asked because it was the smoothest Manhattan I've ever had. On to the food. We shared the fried artichoke. It was a little greasy but very good. The aioli was delicious. For dinner I had the filet and my husband the rib eye. Both were excellent. I had the Béarnaise sauce and it was a nice addition but the steak didn't need it. For our sides we chose the potatoes au gratin and the creamed spinach. Both were very good. For dessert I had the cherries jubilee sundae and my husband the cheesecake. His was very good. Nice texture. My sundae was good but nothing special. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is that aside from Mike, the service was good but not flawless. Our server was very pleasant and friendly and very attentive but a little green. But it didn't really detract from the experience. About the restaurant itself, the spinning seems gimmicky but it is very fun! We were seated around 8pm and the sun was setting. I was facing west so I got to see it. And as we ate and rotated, it became night and we were able to enjoy the skyline. We completed one full rotation. We had a wonderful meal. Once again I want to give props to Mike. He was very good and it's clear that the place runs smoothly because of him. We will definitely be back because our teen girl would love it. read more

When you take the elevator to the 48th floor of the Marriott Marquis, you're definitely winding up there for the view, and the slow-moving 360 degree views of Manhattan... and for that alone, The View fulfills its promise. The food and service are essentially what every other Time Square restaurant has become with the lowest common denominator of tourist expectations met (locals should only visit for drinks when there is an expense account involved). Wines by the glass appear to be a decent variety of selections until you try them and realize that they've picked bottles that either represent the bottom of the pecking order, or aren't stored well for days on end (we had to send two glasses back, one with sediment and the other with a clearly corked off-putting odor and taste). The food is two-star chain restaurant steakhouse quality at four-star prices. The cuts of meat have some fairly excessive fat and rely on copious amounts of seasonings to cover that up before it arrives at the table (I guess so that you'll hopefully not notice the lower quality?). Starters and sides continued the disappointment, with the fried artichokes being very small and mostly batter, and the caesar salad being drowned in over an inch of cheese, hiding the incredibly small amount of lettuce. The potatoes au gratin, however, was a standout side dish which would absolutely be worth ordering in the lounge with a cocktail. read more

this had potential to be an amazing revival and it's just...good. finding your way up to the actual restaurant is a zelda-quest. A lot of unnecessary confusion could've been eliminated by some simple instructions in the OpenTable confirmation once you actually get seated - everything just still seems kind of dated even though it's a brand new restaurant. Are these the old tables or are they simply not washed properly? service was a bit amateurish / casual. they really need actual uniforms her - three different people (water guy, drink delivery person, waitress) had an array of different outfits on , two of the three from their own wardrobes an unsmiling white - jacketed gentleman poured our water . drinks took far to long to come(they weren't full) and when they did, dropped off with barely a smile - zero warmth then met our server. she was nice but i was distracted by all the buttons and flair on her lapel - felt like i was in an Applebee's ordered the shrimp cocktail with the horseradish in the side - it came with it on top. interestingly , it came with about 1.5 inches of shell still attached to the tail . not sure if this was a style point (to be used as a handle) but at that price point , i thought it was tacky ) for mains, we got the halibut and the ribeye with the au poive sauce on the side (they forgot the sauce so flagged another member down) The halibut was clearly the winner - rib eye had waaay too much gristle (The Grill and Carne Mar both serve perfect rib eyes IMO) dessert was the chocolate cake slice with the caramel on the side - sauce doesn't add much to to the dish and weighs it down more - they should consider lightening up with a fresh whipped cream on the side overall it's a decent spot to grab dinner if you're in Times Square for a show but only because there are not a lot of proper options. The spinning feature is cool and you get to see different aspects of the dining room at different points of your meal which I thought was more interesting than the outside view It's good, but this is not Danny Meyer good read more

The advertisement doesn't do it justice. The ambiance was quite lovely. The pianist was exceptional! The rotation is well calibrated - we enjoyed a wonderful multi course meal that took us 2-hours and we found ourselves ending tight where we started. But the food was the point of the visit and it did not disappoint. The crab cake appetizer blessed us at every bite of fresh citrus and crab atop a perfected remoulade with a nice little kick of spice. The steak was as good as any of the finest we've ever had, from Fleming's to Bern's. I actually ordered a seafood tower that was not in the menu downstairs but they accommodated my request from their upstairs menu and it was worth all 135 of the dollars paid! The oysters were fresh and delicious, the star was the tuna tartar, but the pistachio topped ceviche and cracked shellfish with lemon butter dip were absolutely scrumptious and dessert was just as memorable - chocolate with caramel sauce.... This review is for the lounge. Views are gorgeous, drinks are good, prices are high, and service is lacking. I really can't recommend going here and paying this premium when the service is so poor; inattentive at best, dismissive at worst, and abysmally slow. I thought an hour and a half would be plenty of time to enjoy one or two drinks before a show but most of it was spent trying in vain to make eye contact with someone who would deign to serve us in a timely manner. In the end we made it out with mere minutes to spare, and not because we were nursing our cocktails. And no, it wasn't especially crowded, either, at least not in the lounge area. read more
