The View is the only revolving restaurant in NY, and was recently reopened. The ambience is very nice with live piano music, and located on the 47th floor of the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square. The price is quite reasonable by NY standard, especially considering the 360 views from Level 47th and it being a revolving restaurant. It takes about an hour for the floor to go around. The service was also good. We came here for a belated Valentine's dinner, which was memorable. read more

My husband and I just had dinner here and it was amazing! From the staff, ambiance, to food. We made reservations once we arrived at the hotel for 5:15pm we were going to see a broadway show, our server Tristen ( who was amazing) he was very personable nice to chat with, answered any questions and above all else made sure we left in time for the show. We went to NYC to celebrate my birthday once we got to the restaurant I don't think there was a staff member who did not wish me a "Happy Birthday " which was a really nice touch. For dinner my husband had the raw oysters and the lamb chops he enjoyed them both. I had the Tuna carpaccio and Duck. They both were really great choices. Not only the food and service but what the restaurant is named for 'The View' is spectacular! The restaurant rotates which takes about an hour to go full circle. But the views are amazing!! My husband and I will be back for a special treat here at The View! It's been a while where a restaurant has really made us both feel so "wow" afterwards. Lovely view and tuneful piano music. Service and presentation excellent. Food mostly fine, but not good enough to rate five stars. The summer green salad was uninspired, the snap peas not snappy enough, the ricotta salata in such fine shreds that it added little, the little peas rolling about, an absolute mistake. The baby iceberg salad demonstrated what The View does best: big flavors, from the blue cheese dressing to the quail eggs and lardons that really popped. The complimentary cheese straws had no crunch but were well-seeded and tasty. The much-touted burger and fries were good enough, though someone let loose a shakerful of salt on the fries. The pork porterhouse was lovely and succulent, though it was far beyond the medium rare advertised. The chocolate chip cookie was a bit too sweet and partook of a trend we've seen: make the cookie so gooey that it's impossible to lift in one piece. Still an experience justifying the cost. Gotta give some love to the View, which has revived a great ticky tacky piece of New York history. Not a trendy place to eat by any means, and you won't see many native New Yorkers, who turn their nose up at the Times Square locale. But it's absolutely perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. Rotating floorplate that changes the view from the window is frankly awesome. Its so weird. Got the sunset which showed off the skyline from full daylight to twilight - the room looks better at night and feels like you're in a spaceship. Best thing we tasted were the au gratin potatoes, and the cheesecake. Tuna carpaccio with finger limes was unique and seductive. Liked the chicken preparation, which was dredged in flour to give the roast a crispy exterior, kind of mid-point between fried and a traditional roast. I will say that the food could level up from good to great, so looking forward to visiting again and seeing how the kitchen evolves. read more

We visited here with our friends from Michigan and Delaware celebrating 2 birthdays. They were staying at the hotel, so it was convenient. It started off great. I sensed the waiter (Alex) had a bit of a attitude from the beginning. When I asked for Ginger ale, he told me " We don't carry that" however offered other options to the people at the table, ie, Pepsi etc... We waited at least 30 mins for drinks, Appetizers came out fairly quickly, Dinner was another 45 mins after we finished Apps. 3+ hours to eat. The food was good and seasoned well. The kicker was the bill. We were a table of 7. 3 couples and 1 single person; we disclosed from the very beginning that it would be separate bills. They refused to separate the bill in which we had do figure out ourselves including the 23% service fee. (None of which is deserved) Once we figured it out, in the dark with a phone flashlight cause its very dark they charged one of the cards incorrectly and when we told them. they said it would time to adjust the first payment and charged the card again. 400+ dollars. The attitudes are disgusting. The only friendly people are the hostess and the guy who brought us up to the restaurant. I would eat here again, but with caution. read more

We booked this for fun, expecting it to be a bit cheesy, but having grown up on celebratory brunch at the Space Needle revolving restaurant, I couldn't resist. Well, the service was amazing. Gracious and friendly. We were late (stuck in traffic; I texted), and they promptly found us another table. The food was quite good. I learned that one can flash fry artichoke hearts instead of grilling them and may give that a try at home. We had the rib steak, which was quite fatty (I don't mean marbled), but it was a large portion and cooked and seasoned perfectly, and served with two sauces (I think they were comped--see below). We also had the risotto of farro and quinoa. I was deeply skeptical, but it was fantastic--loaded with asparagus and absolutely delicious. My cocktail was serviceable (I ordered a martini with olives and it came with a twist but that was quickly taken care of.) What I didn't expect, as we chatted and ate our starter, watching the great views and enjoying the very nice live piano music, was that we were told we'd had to wait too long for our entrees and were comped the side of our choice. I asked for mushrooms, and the server said we'd have to get the potatoes au gratin as well. So out they both came (along with the two steak sauces)! I can't say the prices were cheap (I'm from Seattle, home of the $40 burger and beer), but they were reasonable (and with all the comps, less than we'd spent for pasta and a bottle of wine in SoHo the night before). We were too full to order dessert or after-dinner drinks. Super fun place for great service, great views (the Chrysler Building spire!), a fun ambience among guests clearly enjoying themselves, and a menu that will please if not surprise. read more

11/9/2025 was my third time to the view. I was with my husband and friend visiting NYC from Utah and we had been very excited about returning. On our previous visits, Max had been our sever and we know he has moved on. Our reservation was at 7PM and we were greeted at the podium then shown to our seats. We had a server whose name I never caught , who brought us menus when we sat down and filled our glasses with water asking if we wanted bottled or tap and we chose tap. He then disappeared. I thought he might consider taking a drink order (he was gone before I could even suggest it) but I guess that is not his style. Next thing I knew it was 7:15 and still he was missing in action. So I got up and went to the podium and said to those there that this was my third time and so far, this experience was not anything like the previous two times and that our server was missing in action. As I returned to the table he was indeed taking a drink order and only myself and my husband ordered cocktails, my husband requested Hendricks and tonic with lime and I requested a Woodford Reserve Manhattan on the rocks with orange no cherry. The drinks did not arrive until approximately 7:35PM, so we had been in the restaurant for 35 minutes before we even got a cocktail. My cocktail order was not correct. It had no orange and had a cherry, they were Luxardo which is okay but not what I requested and at $23 a drink I expect to get what I ordered. I am not exactly sure when I got the correct drink but eventually I did indeed get it. Next it was time to order food. The food by the way was amazing. I ordered Oysters, Caesar Salad and the Salmon. I never got the salad. The waiter even asked me if I wanted the oysters and the salad at the same time to which I said yes, and I never got a salad. By that point the entrees came out and I pretty much had given up. My husband had the burger, very good and our guest and the chicken also very good. The beet salad, peas and carrots and broccoli sides were perfect. We ordered Chocolate cake that we shared and I has a single Espresso. Overall the meal was fantastic. Not a single issue with the food quality, not one. The service however was not up to par. While he did check on us, it just did not feel natural, it was strained and I am sure he was aware that I had gotten up and went to the podium after we had been abandoned early in the evening. The contrast between last night and the prior two times we dined at the View could not have been more different. I did not want to make a scene but had I returned to the table and he had not been there our next move was for all of us to simply walk to the podium and ask to be reseated. Last night was not a busy night. I saw many servers moving through the dining room and I have also been there was the place was very very busy and we still had amazing service. I cannot said I was unhappy enough to leave but sadly I am unsure if I would return.(Our evening was spoiled right at the beginning though.) I mean why would I? At a similar price point I can go to Delmonicos or Old Homestead or Estiatorio Milos or anyplace else where we would have been taken better care of. We tipped him 15% and frankly he was lucky to get it. Also considering how the evening started nobody ever checked with us. No manager stopped by. Honestly it felt like nobody really cared which is very sad considering the state of this economy and I believe the ethereal nature of the restaurant business. You are there one day and gone the next. We come to NYC fairly frequently and we always stay at the Marquis. We get much better service at the Hotel Bar. The staff treats us well and actually shows this with care. That is the standard you should attempt to emulate and maybe some training might begin there because we are always welcomed in and treated with care and respect. Took advantage of the spectacular views offered by the Lounge & Restaurant to fete some out-of-town guests at possibly the only surviving rotating establishment in Manhattan & beyond... Service-- 4.5/5 The crew worked hard to provide expected hospitality, offering ready smiles and efficiency. Food-- 3/5 We ordered three appetizers, four entrees, three sides and one dessert, plus a complement of bevs. The clear winner was the dessert-- the chocolate cake was divine and prompted almost all to agree to come back just for that giant slice of heaven! And, that fact alone speaks to the problem: when the dessert is the highlight of your meal... More specifically, the duck breast was a victim of shrinkflation; it was so petite as to be overwhelmed by accompanying turnips, which is a pity because the flavor was excellent. The sea bass, on the other hand, suffered from a lack of seasoning and tasted merely bland and entirely unremarkable. The other two mains, namely the burger and lobster spaghetti, were just meh as well and failed to elicit any spontaneous comments of joy. Ambience-- 3/5 The great views, moody interior lighting and club-room furnishings notwithstanding, the music (being piped in by the hotel perhaps?) was horrendous. The establishment engenders a Mad Men kind of vibe and yet, the whole evening we were subjected to an endless loop of piano renderings of Chris Martin and such. The volume and incongruence were so great that one can't help but pay even more attention to it and became even more agitated as the night wore on.
