My go to brunch meal is the Ladera French Toast. The toasted coconut, cajeta caramel, cookie struesel and bacon are all my favorite things! Such a delicious way to start the day! Galpal & I met for late lunch/early dinner, so we had our choice of seating. Fireplace was roaring & beautiful ~ chose a table near the patio. Server was delightful - funny guy, so we bantered a bit. Friend had wine, I had *the perfect* Lemon Mule!! Just the right fizz, just the right kick ~ excellent! She got a burger & fries, I got the blackened fish tacos. OMG the avocado/cilantro sauce was incredible - and the perfect compliment for the 3 street tacos, overfilled with pieces of tender fish, slaw, & red onion. I substituted fries for black beans, and they were served hot & crispy. We virtually wolfed down every crumb!!! Love The Vig. Second visit and again, left there feeling good and impressed. Whether brunch or in this case, dinner... this place does not disappoint. Went with the halibut Fish and Chips. Served up with a huge portion of Fish, fries and a jalapeño tartar sauce... wow. It will make you glad you ordered this meal. Wife had a burger and loved it. Ordered my favorite, pozole, from the Vig only to find out that they still charge $20 (adding tip) but what's now for half the serving size. I was told over the phone the serving size was the same. I met my brother and sister-in-law, who were in town for a company meeting and staying at the Arizona Grand Resort in South Mountain, Arizona. We decided on The Vig Arcadia location Friday night. Our table was outside near the fireplace and the atmosphere was wonderful. There was a young man who was singing. He was perfection, and lots of family and dogs were in attendance which made the atmosphere even better. We all had wine and a charcuterie board for appetizers, and then decided on the steak entrée And pasta, Bolognese and steak salad. All of them were delicious. Our waiter was wonderful. He made great suggestions he was patient and let us just stay and talk for hours. It was a wonderful night. I highly recommend the location for the ambience and the food! read more

First, it is a REALLY cool place to hangout with people. We had (what I FIRST thought sounded like an absolutely hideous) Old Fashioned, which was one of the best I've ever had! Our server was very cool, very busy... no moss grew under her feet... but she was attentive, got all the orders 100% correct, smiled, joked with us, a very nice person who earned our respect and a nice, fat tip. The food was superlative, the menu had something for everyone. I had the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich, half of which I had to take home because there was so much food (no complaint here!); my partner had the Braised Beef Dip sandwich, which was very good. Several had the street tacos and not one speck of food remained when finished; the other people in our party of 6 had cauliflower tacos, and one had a excellent-looking salad. The quality of the food was excellent! There was a young female entertainer that did a very good job: not only did she have excellent pipes, she stayed in perfect tune --- accompanied by her guitar or keyboard. We really enjoyed her singing! Well done...! Fed the tip jar a few times... Prices were very good, not outrageous as is the fashion of many Phoenix-area restaurants. I think it's safe to say that you get what you pay for, but in this case, I think the dinner guests is the clear winner here. One other note: there were a few televisions tuned to various sports shows, but if there was any sound at all, it was imperceptible. Nice touch... Me & my girlfriend visited the Vig for the first time, and wow!!! We got the French dip which melted in your mouth, & the Mac and cheese which is to die for. The patio area is gorgeous with low lighting and lots of greenery. This place was fun, great people super friendly atmosphere. Nice inside and bar staff was awesome. Super crowded but they handled it very well and got all our drinks and food relatively fast. Had the wing and nachos along with a few drinks. Drinks where perfect, wings where hot and came out fast lacked a little something couldn't put my finger on it but flavor wasn't bad. Nachos where good some of the better ones I've had. Live music was decent, I'd definitely go back because people around us make it fun. Reason for 4 stars wait times where awful and completely inaccurate. Was told I'm app20-25 minutes but when we arrived they said over and hour. Luckily we found a couple seats at bar. read more

We last visited The Vig in 2007, shortly after they opened. This was the original location. We moved away and recently returned to Phoenix. The service was prompt and friendly, my French Dip was one of the best I've ever had--very tender beef and a nice au jus that some places tend to just overly salt for flavor. I think the Vig in Arcadia will always be a community staple. It's a great location and the area is big enough and not cramped. Parking is a little scarce but that's normal for anywhere in Arcadia. They do have valet. I've been to the Vig quite a few times over the years but I most recently went for brunch for the first time. I ordered the pork chilaquiles, amazing flavor! I had actually never had chilaquiles at all before so I was thrown off by all the fried tortilla that was slightly soggy, not a fan of that but I didn't know. But my friend and I still loved the flavor they had! My friend ordered the eggs Benedict and loved it. The brunch was good! I would go back and try something else next time but would definitely try it out again. read more

Completely forgettable. My wife and I were treated to an anniversary dinner by my father-in-law, and my first thought after the meal was "I'm glad I didn't pay for that". We were seated without a wait on a Thursday night, only to wait at our table for about 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. We flagged down someone who sent the bartender over to assist us after we were told our waiter went home. We ordered 2 appetizers - the Grilled Mexican Shrimp and the Chefs Board - and our entrees. The shrimp portion was ludicrously small - FIVE 16/20-sized shrimp on a grilled lemon slice with a small amount of sauce and was sorely lacking a flavor. The Chef's Board was better, but it's not hard to assemble pre-packed meats, cheese, and preserves on a wooden board. For our entrees, my wife got the Argentinian Striploin, my FIL the Grilled Salmon, and I got the Striped Sea Bass. My meal was one very small portion of over-cooked, under seasoned fish on broccolini and forbidden rice. The rice was the only part of the meal that had any real flavor (citrus vinaigrette?) and the dish overall was a major disappointment. My father-in-law said his salmon was 'interesting' multiple times but didn't offer up any more details. My wife's dish was the worst of the bunch. Her nearly $40 meal barely got touched. Her steak was possibly the worst steak I've ever had or tried at a restaurant (Denny's included) and we should have been concerned when the waiter recommended it cooked medium. She ordered it rare, and the steak came cooked closer to medium, pre-cut without an ounce of crust or seasoning on it, with an un-chewable layer of non-rendered fat throughout. After sensing her disappointment, I tried a piece and could barely chew it through. Having a steak come out both 'rare' and dry is a skill. I don't know what an 'Argentinian Striploin' is, but I'll be avoiding it from here on out. When they asked if she wanted a to-go box for her 80% uneaten steak, my wife declined and later told me that she didn't want to feed it to the dogs and have them choke on it. All-in-all, this is easily the most disappointed I've ever been in a $150 meal, and I'm giving it 2 stars instead of one because the ambiance was decent, the bartender stepped up and took care of us, and the fact that I didn't have to pay for it myself. Maybe their burgers are better, but if you go bring your own salt, because apparently ran out here at The Vig. read more

We went on a Saturday evening for a last minute dinner, and ended up waiting about 25 minutes to be seated they were packed. The restaurant was crazy busy and extremely loud due to the live music. The music was great but I wish it was slightly lower in volume because I could barely talk with my fiancé across the table. Otherwise the service was great! We started with the calamari and oh my goodness! What a refreshing change! GET THE CALAMARI!! Delicious!! Then we split the steak chimichurri and the pasta (I didn't get a picture because we ate it too quickly). Loved the chimichurri and French fries! The pasta was good, but a little over done. There were a few clumps of noodles that were semi-burned together (like they got stuck on the bottom of the pot). Then the dessert...... We decided to get it to go so we could enjoy it and talk. We ordered the butterscotch bread pudding. We both decided that was the BEST bread pudding we have ever had!! Butterscotch!!! Ice cream! And bread pudding!!! Came here last night to watch the Jazz game. Few things to note if you plan to come to The Vig. The parking is valet only. Which is dumb because their parking lot is so small. It takes longer to do valet that it would have been to walk up to my car. The service was not great. It was just my boyfriend and I and it felt impossible to ask for anything. The waitress kept walking by but not stopping to see if we needed anything. Lastly the place is pricey. I'm all for spending money on good food but this place remind me of somewhere like Culinary dropout but almost double the price. I can see this place being good for a big group or a happy hour. But a dinner for two this place just didn't do it for me. read more

I've been to two other Vig locations in the Valley, both which I enjoyed very much, and this location also did not disappoint. Complimentary valet is offered (don't forget to tip!) and there is indoor and outdoor seating with heaters when it's chilly out. Caught Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 3-6pm for food) and had an awesome time! We got the sliders and the flatbread from the HH menu. The sliders were a good portion size and I loooved the bun they use! The flatbread special for tonight was the Margherita (sp?) and we enjoyed that as well. Customer service is good and I'm always diggin the vibes here. When to confirm reservations on a Monday for a Friday night Dinner. they had given the room away to a bigger party. I wouldn't recomend this resturaunt because the managers apologized and said we did take your reservation but the owner had a bigger party and switched it on us and we had no idea this happened. and there is nothing ew could do to correct the situation read more

I understand it's a hip patio spot to meet the girls for mimosas and whatever, but that DRY ASS TURKEY CLUB for $17 was an insult to my wallet and my esophagus when I nearly choked on every bite. The insides were like layers of jerky. If you're that short-staffed, just get a party platter from Panera and serve it as orders come through. My only concern with this location was the service. It took a while for anyone to acknowledge us when we entered the restaurant and the service was slow. A friend and I wanted to go to Hash kitchen but when we got there the line was wrapped around the building and it's summer so there was no way we were waiting in that. So we went down the street to The Vig. There was a 25 minute wait. But it was inside and they were serving brunch so we stayed. My friend ordered the Montecristo and she said she really enjoyed it it was good. I ordered the French onion burger, received the wrong burger and sent it back, the French onion burger with onion rings turned out to be one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. The onion rings were one of my favorites from anywhere crispy and delicious. The Berger said it had caramelized onions and it did. That's an important issue with me because I love onions anyway except if they are raw and crisp. A lot of places claim to have caramelized onions and they're actually just cooked. But the Vig did it right. We ordered the coconut French toast to share. Honestly the dish was a bit of a letdown. They use a very thick bread and maybe it did not get soaked enough to be French toast, but it came out very dry. Also since it's called coconut French toast there is very little coconut and coconut flavor. That dish could be improved upon but Certainly not a horrible dish at all. Even though they were extremely busy the staff did a great job getting to us when they could and everybody seem nice. Just a note that it was valet parking only. read more
